holy moly I've been gone less than 24 hours and OMG look where this thread is?? :)

Everyone's creations are gorgeous :).

I visited the fabric store today to grab some clearance fabrics so I can start creating some prototypes ;) It's a holiday weekend here so I have an extra day of DH being home so hopefully I can get some sewing time (plus finish off 2 of my knitting projects so I can start more :rolleyes1 )

I doodled some ideas last night I was soooo inspired by your creations, so hopefully I can get what's in my head onto fabric and it looks even 10% as good as all yours :D

Can't wait to see what you come up with!!! I'm always making doodles of outfits I want to make!

I've been steadily reading on the old thread for weeks (months?!) trying to catch up. I still didn't really, but with the old thread gone I picked up here and feel kind of relieved to be current. I don't sew - really - and don't have anyone to make cute outfits for if I did, but I do have a sewing machine and a fabric stash and assorted ribbons and notions! And I love seeing the cute outfits you've made! I love seeing pictures of your outfits after you've made your trip to the world! If I get the chance I'll keep "catching up" (I'm nothing if I'm not persistent!) But I'm definitely glad to be in the here and now!

I do have two dresses I smocked with serious supervision in a class! I'll try to post the pics sometime.

:welcome: Glad you found us and started posting!!!

I started to get worried, I wasn't sure where you were going with that, lol! Of course I should have thought of Lydia Rose, what was I thinking?

:) Sorry to worry you! :flower3:
;)
By the way, if you would see LisaZoe's shirt that I CABed this from, you would not be so impressed. She is my sewing idol! :lovestruc
I would STILL be impressed!!

Me, me, me! I can certainly relate. My daughter was a late talker, and I was a little glad because the first one was so chatty. He started talking in complete sentences when he was a baby, sounding like a little adult. So when Megan started talking closer to three I thought I would have one chatty one and one quiet one. Nope! Megan talks more than the rest of us put together. She is so funny though, so I don't mind (mostly). She will even get up out of a dead sleep talking about something that happened earlier that day.
That sounds like Arminda!!! She didn't really start talking until she was 2 1/2 or so, and has NOT stopped since!!!! yack yack yack yackity yack yack yack. Unless of course, she is pouting about something! :rotfl: She is a lot of fun though!!! Lydia said her first words at 6 weeks, she said, "Hi". At three months, a lady at Walmart said hi to her, and she said hi back, I didn't think anything of it(since she'd been doing it for so long at that point!). But, the lady almost freaked out!!! She took a big step backwards and said,
"That BABY just said HI to me, that baby talked!!!" :scared1: honestly, I think it scared her!!! :rotfl:

Yes, we got the Nautilus!

DH brought it home one night, still wasn't on the shelves (but he is a manager there and I kept bugging him about finding it for me). I really like it. I am used to Recaro and Britax (and had a fisher price way back when) so it kind of seems cheap when picking it up and lugging it and putting it together, but honestly we like it alot! Oh, we have the cosco apex too and I like it 100% better then that. It seems smaller and like Dallas is more snug with a bit more head and side impact protection. Plus my car doesn't have headrests in the backseat and I like the Regent in Lin's car. He is in the 3rd slot up so has a couple more inches until the top, but also isn't at the top of the 3rd. For the price I am loving it, it was the perfect fix to my situation, not wanting another regent since I am not that fond of it AND I needed one for the airplane for May! Yes, I still put him in a carseat on the airplane, but we are also renting a car and will need it once in LA. I do not want it checked through.

I made a darn video but expo doesn't have it in their database yet and I want the $10 for it! Maybe I could post on you tube somehow (how do you do that?). I also really like the color. My car is grey with black interior and black top (convertible) so it really looks nice! No pink for us!

I know, I can ramble! It was a pain to put together! Not really that hard but would have been nice to have someone help me and pull the cover to the side to snap in the back, really there were only 4 steps, just annoying by yourself.

Oh, and Dallas approves and likes it, but then again he has never said he doesn't like any of them.

Thanks for the information! It really is a great price for a seat like that! I can't wait to see your video!

Thank you. It really was sad. She knew what it was and everything. I had not a clue. She was 5 and I was 25 and a first time parent that had 4 little ones placed with us at one time. They all had lice, but Leanne's hair was so long, thick and curly I could not get rid of it. I was also not allowed to have it cut and thinned out at all since the bio family was still calling the shots. :confused3 They can not parent well enough to have them in the home, but they can make decisions like hair cuts, bike riding, swimming, swing sets and vacations. None of which they wanted the kids to do at our house. They said if they take all of the parental control away they would just give up and not visit or work the case plan. Well...our 5-year gottcha day is February 26 so we see how well that worked out. That’s OK, they belonged here with us and are truly different kids. One of these days I am going to post our adoption stories:)

Just reading that made me all teary, so I can't wait to read your adoption stories!! Please share!

Ok, back to the "mother thread" question. The original message was that the long threads would be back in about 24 hours. WELL, where is it? If a MOD is reading this, could you please explain when the thread will be back? Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing. I keep checking, but still no thread. I miss it. :sad1:

ARGH! I don't like my new machine! I am not one for change and just wanted this machine to have a lighter cheaper one to take with me places, but I just don't like it so far! I am sure it is me! But for appliquing is not doing nice at all! I feel bad because DH always asks me when I am going to sew on it!

For those of you who made the dresses with the princess pillowcases from WalMart/KMart/Kohl's, I have a couple of questions.

1. When appliqueing the princess, I see where you went around different hair strands, lips, eyes. Did you do that because the applique was so big so it wouldn't pucker? I really like the look of it, but don't think my "applique technique" is good enough for that. How hard is it?

2. I was going to put something between the applique and the fabric so the fabric wouldn't show through. What did you use? And did you just use heat-n-bond lite to stick them together before appliqueing?

Well I decided to Disney-fy my sailor outfit. Here is the results. I haven't put the hooks inside the top, so it's just pinned, that's why it's hanging funny in the front. Also there will be a red ribbon on the front...eventually..LOL

WOW! This is awesome! I've seen that whale fabric many times on clearance, and never picked it up. I'm sure now I won't be able to find it. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure what store it is that I saw it. Hancocks?
You sure do pump 'em out fast!

Absolutely perfect. I love it!

Here is what I have been working on the past few days...
clothingcreations018.jpg

After I took the pic, I fixed the sash so it is shorter and hangs better.

I made this from the boys old sheets. I put myself on a fabric budget so I had to make do:lmao: The Buzz fabric was the flat sheet, and the blue/turquoise fabric is the fitted sheet. I had some of the green on hand.

Next up with this sheet set is an appliqued jeans set for my 2.5 yo ds.

These next pics are for flea, and whomever else wants to take interest:goodvibes
This is the custom diaper I just got in the mail!:thumbsup2
betcha can't tell which team we root for!

Thanks for the luck.... We need it! It is sad the girls were fighting. I actually think it was more a group of moms were saying things to their girls and the girls were taking it to the gym. I totally agree that the parents were worse than the kids. There was a mom last night that said to her DD "you didn’t take to J (the coach) did you? Remember I said respect him, but you are not to speak to him!" :confused3 I was shocked. The parent’s problem is they think the coach is too hard on the girls. But several of them are so disrespectful that he has to be hard on them. They have this attitude like my parents pay you a lot of money so I can do what I want. I have heard them say it to the girls. I have honestly told Leanne things like I pay to much money for you to be messing around, you need to stay focused etc. But never anything like they are saying. I can not believe it. This is probably Leanne's last year. It is a lot of money... close to $6,000/year (don't tell DH.. he doesn’t ask so I don’t tell) and she is not having any fun anymore.

We have the same problem with winning and losing. The parents don’t want extra practices but when we lose they don't understand why. One mom yanked her kids off the team because we got second two weeks in a row and another mom said she was mad and thought we were judged unfairly last week??? Some parents are really sending the wrong message to their kids.

OK, I am stepping down from my soapbox now.

I completely understand. There is one set of parents who tell anyone who will listen that their son is not playing well because he cannot be motivated by a female coach. Well, if you tell your kid that enough times, I am sure it will turn out to be true! I love all the kids, but I would happy to do without the parents!

I really can't imagine a parent telling a kid not to talk to her coach. That is just unreal. Start saving for therapy now I say.

I had no idea cheerleading was so expensive! I hope you can find something that she loves to replace it.

Hee, the baby talked to me. :rotfl: I once asked our ped why Megan was making all those strange noises and he said, that's baby talk, completely normal. I had never heard it before and thought something was wrong with her. I am sure he thought I was a complete nutcase.

I wish I could give you advice, but my serger I got for Christmas is still in the box! I have a hard time learning new things too.

Cute! I love the back with the "ahoy" and the minnie head. And her bangs are cute too, I don't think I mentioned it. Megan insists on bangs because she cannot stand any hair in her face. I worry that none of the other girls have bangs and that they will tease her, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. Fortunately, Megan is the sort of kid that doesn't care or even seem to know when she is being teased.

How very resourceful! The buzz fabric and the blue look like they were meant to go together. Your daughter looks so sweet.

That baby bottom is precious! I haven't seen anything like that before, too cute!

I love the outfit and I love Ireland with the bangs! The ahoy part is my favorite!

That's too bad! What machine did you get?

I got the brother one from costco. DH says I need to stop comparing Jag's to Fords, that was actually yesterday when I was putting in the carseats, I am sure the same thing is coming with the sewing machine comparison.

I guess my biggest issue so far is it doesn't cut my thread for me! I got so spoiled. I was trying some zigzag though and it was not doing nice at all. I had out some of Dallas' patches from Lowe's to sew on but didn't want to ruin his apron by messing it up. It already has quite a few on it.

One of these days I am going to post our adoption stories:)
I've heard that before...:rolleyes1 ;)

Good Morning to all!! Just got caught up on the threads! Love the ribbon shirts..I'm trying to finish 2 sundresses for the girls and then I'm off to Walmart for some white shirts and hopefully some Disney fabric. Once I get a few things done I'll post some pictures.

Wish me luck on finding some Belle & Ariel fabric!!

Good luck! Can't wait to see some pictures!

Arminda? Talkative? :confused3 Lydia was a freakishly smart baby!!
I love your new avatar and siggy pictures!! Where did you find the little Belle in your siggy?

I'm not generally one to like sailor outfits, but I LOVE this!!!!

That Buzz outfit is great and your DD is so pretty!
Am I weird that I got teary-eyed looking at your precious little baby?
I also got teary-eyed just a minute ago when I came across nursing bras in the JCPenney catalog and thought "I'll never need to buy another one of those." So, I'm a bit odd.

Hee, the baby talked to me. :rotfl: I once asked our ped why Megan was making all those strange noises and he said, that's baby talk, completely normal. I had never heard it before and thought something was wrong with her. I am sure he thought I was a complete nutcase.

Is this the machine that's like my new Brother CS6000i? If it is, I had some issues with the tension when I first got it. I had to set the tension dial to less than 1 to get it to zig-zag properly. I also had the bobbin in wrong or something. Teresa re-did it for me and it worked great.

Crystal (AKA: Tinka Belle) updated the first page again. It now includes directions on how to multi-quote, how to post pictures, and how to make pictures into thumbnails. So, if anyone asks, we can just refer them back to the first post.

In case you haven't looked, there's also an introduction by Teresa that decodes the abbreviations on here and lists our "rules". There is also a link to the photobucket site and Teresajoy's sewing links.

PHEW! That's a lot of stuff, but it's great to have it all there in one place!

Crystal is not allowed to dissapear now that she's the "keeper of the first post"! :rotfl:

Oh come on now Tom...you sew circles around me. I'm a pedal to the metal kind of girl and like to make things very quickly. Your clothes look like an engineer helped plan every stitch. They always look perfect!! I'm so jealous..also I'm still waiting for your dd to donate some hair to me...I can't seem to get it to grow past the middle of my back. I only need a foot or so..:rotfl:
