I don't have pictures saved anywhere either. I also don't tend to browse ebay for customs. Then again I have a boy so that might explain why. I do browse ebay for pins and love to use them for my inspiration or clipart.

I was looking at the Round Neck Top on ycmt. How hard is it to do the arm holes? I was thinking it was bias binding but it doesn't look like from most of the pictures.

Thanks for any insights!

I am not trying to create more trouble, but trying to understand why putting your pictures on trip reports, on this thread, and on ebay would be OK.

As their mother, it is her right to put their pictures were she wants and not have to explain that decision to you or anyone else. Lori was not aware that her children were in the photobucket account until recently and asked that they be removed. Why is that a problem?

princess: :upsidedow :snooty: :happytv: :goodvibes Hi guys! I just wanted to let you all know that we will now be going back to our reguarly scheduled lovey dovey happy thread!

Ooopppssss!!!!! I posted my last comment before I read this! Sorry please forgive me.

In the ebook, there are instructions for both - you can either use bias binding for the armholes or you can do a narrow hem. I did the bias binding because I hate narrow hemming! HTH!

Oh, if you wouldn't mind posting the directions, that'd be great! I just love that style of top! I tried the whole leave a small opening and topstitch thing, but I just couldn't get it to work - the straps would still be inside and all jumbled up.

As for the round neck top - if you already have a pattern similar, I'd use it. I just loved the top and didn't already have a pattern like it, so I bought the ebook.

Thanks so much everyone for the nice comments!!

I do not mind posting them at all. Let me find that particular pattern and I will get it done. I will try to get it up tonight. I can not make any promises. If you saw my sewing room you would understand. After you ran away in fear... It is a mess!

FWIW- I think you just have to trim the excess in the strap part short and also notch it to get it to turn right. I used one of those plastic turning stick things from Joanns and it worked great.

I also wanted to add a tip about Joanns. If you live in an area with a Giant Eagle- they have Joanns gift cards. I have been buying the gift cards in $50 increments and using them on my trips to Joanns. I have been earning double fuel perks on those purchases. So for every $50 I spend at Joanns I get $.20/gallon of gas. It really starts to add up. We got a free tank of gas the other day... My Dh was so cute. He said "honey come here you have to see this. They gallons are going up, but money still says zero. He was so amazed! With gas prices the way they are, I am sure we could all use a way to save a little money. HTH!

I just got back from both Joann and Hancock fabrics. Nice sales this weekend.

I came home with two pieces of pre-shirred stuff, a Minnie print and a princess print. I should have those made with in the hour. I also got some of that princess vinyl, I'm going to make a table cloth for Delaney's little table, I got some very light pink flannel to back it and I'll put bias tape around the outside.

I found that fabulous monkey chain fabric! I'm going to make a tiered skirt out of it, I got both the tan and white back ground. The ladies who had the tanks with them are those a gymboree top or did you make those as well? We're members of the National Zoo and I figured DD could wear the skirt and a top to the big event they have in June.

I got some patriotic fabrics, including a Hello Kitty on for DD for 4th of July.

Aimee, you had mentioned that your youngest DD loves Strawberry Shortcake, my Hancock fabrics had a really cute panel fabric and a coordinating print, they are pink and black, really cute, they were in the clearance section if you're looking for other Strawberry Shortcake fabrics. They are kind of that pink chic Parisian style.

Got lots of patterns today. I also picked up another of those large fabriques at Joann, I got Lightning McQueen, I also picked up another of the storybooks to make another skirt out of to match the Cars top I want to make with Lightning.

Elisa, I love Alexis' new dress. It's cute!

Is anyone going to be at Disney World the first week of June? We arrive on the 1st and leave late on the 7th.

Thanks! I did pick yop that SS panel with baby SS. I did not see the black and pink and will look for it. Thanks for the heads up.

So I usually try not to post too much about my personal woes (because they are mostly boring), but I figured the mood needs lightening up around here so I'll go OT for a minute.

Last week Louie and I took the train down to Richmond, VA to visit my folks. Our house is currently on the market, so I figured it was good to get out of town rather that clean up after Lou constantly.

Now I'm a pretty low-maintenance kind of gal - rarely wear makeup, spend the day in yoga pants and t shirts, don't wear shoes unless I have to - you get my drift (I'm kinda earthy-crunchy). I decided that since my mom would be around to watch Lou that I would do something nice for myself. I decided to get a haircut (which I usually do myself) and highlights (which the sun usually does for me).

I went to one of the hairdressers at my mom's favorite salon. She gave me a trim right before my brother's wedding (I looked like a sheepdog before), and I liked it. So I figured she would be OK to give me a cut and a few highlights :confused3 .

Well, it was a busy day in the salon, and my gal slapped some foils on my head, put me under the dryer, and took a few other customers. It seemed like I was under there a loooong time. When she took the foils off, it looked like clumps of wet, white thread fell out. She washed it, dried it, trimmed it, and told me how great it looked. Now being that I don't really know how properly highlighted hair should look, I agreed with her politely. But in reality, I looked like I had aged 20 years.

I got home, and as soon as I stepped out of the car my dad said "well, I can tell you've been riding with Shirley" (my mom's elderly friend who is a wild and crazy driver and had met us for lunch that day). Well, I knew he was making a joke about my hair and wasn't too happy  . Neither was my mom - she chewed him out several times that afternoon.

Anyway, my mom convinced me that I looked stunning, so I decided to live with the hair. I got back to CT and got all these non-compliments like "oooooh - you frosted your hair, good for you." So I decided to darken my hair up - how hard could it be, right???

Well, I bought some stuff that is specifcally meant to cover gray hair. Even though my white strands were brought on by bleach, I figured it would have the same impact and make me normal. The stuff was orange coming out of the tube, but the instructions said that the color of the goo was not necessarily representative of the color that the hair would end up.

My hair is now kind of orangey-brownish.

:scared1:

My stepson says it looks better than it did, but I think that is just another non-compliment. :sad2:

OK - enough whining - back to work...

I have nothing to add to the ongoing discussion...I just wanted to say how cute all of your marathon pictures in your siggy are...love the everest one....it almost makes me wish I was athletic...:lmao:

Thanks. They kind of make me look like an athlete, too, huh? Truth is I was the last one over the finish line of the Minnie 15K. I am so sloooowwww, but, hey, I still finished it.

BTW, that is not me in my avatar. That is Ashley Tisdale who I absolutely resemble in no way. The whole pic is a "fabulous" inside joke. I guess it is time for me to change it.

Don't hurry - I've gotta work tonight and tomorrow night anyway, so I probaly won't have much time to check in till Monday.

And what a great idea about the gift card/gas price! I've never heard of Giant Eagle, so I'm thinking we probably don't have them, but good for you for saving on gas!!! Plus, you can justify it this way - "But DH, if I spend money at JoAnn, we'll save on gas!"

Well, I know what you mean. I've been coloring my own, becuase to go to a hairdresser, I have to ask for double everything since I have so much hair. And it's too much to pay for 2 haircolorings every month or so. So I've been doing my own. I love to wear my hair Dark Auburn, becuase it's more like my own. BUT, when it comes to grey, it turns out bright orange at the roots. The next day, it's sort of toned down. But I've been going to dark boring brown.

A lot of you have been on this thread a long time. I lurked from the beginning and finally posted on the original thread and have seen many come and go. This thread is where I met Aimeeg, Revrob, Eeyore, Tink561, Stephres, Heather, and so many more as people joined and left. Sorry if I didn't list everyone. :flower3: I really am sad right now that this is happening.

I don't mind a little drama once in awhile, as long as it doesn't get mean and nasty. :guilty: The pm's are too much.

My backstory is that I haven't been able to post on here for almost a year. I was diagnosed with a rare, incurable, autoimmune disease and the treatment for it is making me very ill.

I come here and lurk and live vicariously through all of you. I watch the beautiful outfits you make for your kids and I love every one of them. And I wish that I had the energy to be able to do it for my kids. There are so many outfits I would love to be able to CASE for my kids, but that's not going to happen for awhile.

When I went to Disney last year I had people stop me everywhere and ask where I had gotten the outfits that my daughters had on and I got to tell them that I had made them. That wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been on this site. I never would have had the confidence to make the outfits for my children. I even had one lady stop and take pictures of my kids in the outfit and later saw many takes on the outfit. I just considered it flattery.

I have owned a business that was dependent on my creative ability and whenever I went to a craft or art show, not clothing, :) I knew that someone would be doing what I was doing at the next show. So I always had to keep it fresh.

I really do think it's low of someone to produce something they got off someone else and call it one of a kind. That is not right. But I do know that it is going to happen.

Please try to forgive and forget, life is way too short.

And please don't take away my boutique eye candy! Pretty please!!

Personal hugs all around.....

I'm so sorry. I haven't been around much lately. Life is busy with three teens and a toddler. I am sorry to hear you are sick. Big hugs

Hey Girls,
Hope you are having a good weekend. I went to my private lesson and she agreed with me- the pattern is a stinkeroo pattern.
The good news is I am just a few hems and button/button holes away from it being completed.
I also finished a little top/dress that crosses and ties in the back yesterday- all but for the hole you have to handsew clothes- I dislike handsewing unless it's something fancy.....
I did not buy cinderella fabric today- If anyone has done other Princess gowns (like out of prom gown material) please post for inspiration on me attempting the 4949. I suppose I could make it and if I didnt finish it, it would be for play-but so far DD2 isnt into that kind of play, shes just learning about her imagination, and pretend tea parties.

and I still have not cut out the minnie dot fabric

i have to have everything packed and zipped up wednesday night before bed since are have to leave at the crack 'o dawn....
Im really getting excited that our trip is just a few days, and Im really sad my favorite thread (which became really a community of gals I felt like I was friends with) seems to be disintegrating (spelling??)

I hope Im not attacked for saying this- but if you are still arguing-or whatever you want to call it, or want something removed- can you shift it to PMs so the rest of us can get back to our warm fuzzy sweet group. I really miss it- and we are like 10 pages in of this muck, aren't we beating a dead horse at this point?

On an UP topic- many of you may recall my post of Mulligan #3

HE GOT ADOPTED!!! He goes to his new home (GA to NH) next weekend!

I have a black lab in AL- Duke #25 who is my new pet project, and a yellow fellow in GA who needs to be checked out to see if we can save him.

Anyone planning a trip for 2009? I know there are a lot of you that go every year but for those that don't -- anyone going in '09???

One of my SIL's sent me an email this week with a day countdown to 2009 of when she wanted us to go. Who all will there?

ME - We are going on our first trip ever to disneyland in Oct 09. I can't wait - I'm so excited. It's also our first trip to the US (well actually our first family trip anywhere)

My girls will be almost 3 and almost 5 when we go so I'm hoping they will enjoy it.

Oh and BTW I've been planning since 2006 lol :rolleyes1 I do have a wee problem with obsessive planning lol

QUESTION: How do you pack your pretty outfits for travelling?? How do you keep them all sorted etc and some of the stuff is pretty big and boufy. I'll need to do some trial packing runs I think :)

Here is the Ariel dress. I CASED the bodice from Carla's pattern, and I CASED all of the appliques, and I CASED the fabric choices, and I CASED the pink trim on the bottom, and I CASED the "stand in front of the door" style picture and I also CASED the "take a picture of your kid with messy hair"
Enjoy!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :dance3:

Sorry...in light of all of the "out of the blue :sad2: " CASEing talk...just trying to be funny!

I LOVE this outfit - your appliqués are amazing!! I hope to have talent like yours ne day.

I have got to tell you this....the direction this conversation is going tonight is very depressing. I have been "on" this thread back from the original one and my daughter, AliKat99, was on it from the beginning. If the "oldies" remember I was one of the first ones to look for fabric inspiration in bedsheets, made one of the first 3D Pirate Mickey appliques, did the first Pumpkin Mickey Head applique. I have helped others when I could from sharing some of the sewing techniques I have picked up in my 50 years of sewing, or scanning into the computer a needed page of a lost Princess dress pattern guide I happened to have in my stash. I have even learned a few things like the Dental Floss gathering trick. I did my first Frankenpattern when I was 12 years old when I combined elements from 3 different ones to make myself a dress. My first custom outfit where I designed my own pattern was for Alikat99 when she was about 6 months old and I was 18 yrs old. When a person uses a commercial pattern or even several commercial patterns there will be outfits that look VERY similar ESPECIALLY when your creation is themed around Uncle Walt's creations. OK I will get off my Soap Box now....Nana

:goodvibes

Hey ladies and Tom...
We went to the drive in movies last night to see Indiana Jones, and Iron man, so we missed the action. Anyway, I am going to refrain from commenting on it at all, but rather CarlaC and a few other already voiced my opinion.
And on to the goodies!

I LOVE the scrapbook pages. Papercrafting is my other love. Steph the autograph book is PERFECT! And happy Bday to Megan

Zofia had a memorial day preK concert yesterday, and they requested that the kids wear red/white/blue, so I HAD to make something for her. Here she is in all her cuteness...
On the way to school with Ben in the background.

I also made this diaper soaker for my sis

And my friend asked me to make matching skirts for her dd's. I don't want to look at this fabric again:confused3 way more ruffles than I wanted to do. Although I did try the dental floss method, and it worked fabulously!

WOW - those are GREAT!!
As requested LOL Corey meets JORD!

This is GREAT!! Thanks for posting!

and not to get even more "crazy" here as someone called me in a PM! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!!!

it is against photobucket rules to copy and keep photos on there site without permission of the original owner. I personally do not have a inspiration folder in photobucket for that reason.
You all have made me sad and ashammed to be apart of a group that wants to attack me and my decisions as a mother.
Lori

Lori - sorry you feel attacked. . . I sure hope you stick around. . . .

I know I am pretty new here (only the last few months, though I did start on the first thread) and haven't CASEd anyone yet, but I think that it ok to CASE for personal use (as it has been said, the fabric and patterns are mass produced). I do find issue with CASing for profit without the original designers ok. That said, I hope that questions can come up, and though there may be debate, that we don't have to get angry at one another or be/feel attacked. Let's go back to being supportive of one another as well as a creative inspiration :)

I know I am kind of late jumping in here. But I have been thinking about making something for the "Big GIve".
Do you think she would like a bag for her trip?

I am thinking of making a bag out of the Minnie Dot fabric with a Mickey head applique and some yellow trim. Or I could also make one with a pretty blue Princess Fabric I have.

If you think it sounds good let me know. Also, how soon does it need to be finished by?

WOW...I think that would be a wonderful idea. What a sweetie you are! I sent you a PM.:goodvibes

WOW that is awesome! I have never seen that....where did you get that material?? I bet the little guy just LOVES it!!!

As requested LOL Corey meets JORD!

Awwww....hehehehe...hey Teresa, I know what you should get Corey for his Christmas present!!!!! (hahahahaha.....:rotfl2: :lmao: )

I just have to say I am having so much fun working on my BIG GIVE outfit! I got it halfway done last night. I forgot something at Joanns yesterday so I have to run back today. Hopefully I'll finish it tonight. And I also have to say, I haven't made one mistake yet! :rotfl: DH took DS8 on a special trip to visit his grandparents in Canada, and although DH fully believes that without him the house will erupt in chaos, things are going so nicely! :rolleyes1 It's almost like I'm on vacation! I have only 3 kids at home and they are all being lovely and helpful and getting along. We order pizza for dinner, we're doing lots of fun stuff this weekend. It is nice. Our two grumpy boys are not around. (but I do love and miss them).

:cloud9: Ohhh I am sooo super excited to see what you have come up with for the BIG GIVE!!!! Oh I can't wait to see your pictures!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this!!! You are a sweetie...!!!:lovestruc

I do hope normal service is resumed soon. I also feel really sorry for Beth; she has taken the time and energy to do something special for someone who has suffered in a way no one should and that nice friendly atmosphere seems long gone.

:cloud9: You are so sweet. I don't think anything can really get me down right now. Being able to do this BIG GIVE for Alicia and Isabelle with all of you has just given me such a wonderful feeling inside. It's hard for me to explain, but I just feel so good about it all. We are doing something so special for a family that has been through the unimaginable and I am going to enjoy every single minute of it!!! It is one of the best feelings ever!!! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

You did a great job on that!!! So cute!

Aw, I'm sorry that happened to you Carla. Bleach is a serious chemical and some people take it less serious than they should. I'm a hairdresser and I'm always checking on my foils to make sure they are right. I'm sure it looks nicer than it did, and thanks for lightening the mood :goodvibes
