HA! You don't remember me. Last year when I was in OC, we met up on the beach and the girls played in the water. I will be down again the 3rd week of June and hopefully at least one other time this season. My parents are now charging me and family to use their place---grrrrr because they need a new roof. So my trips to the beach will be less fequent this year. :sad1:

I DO remember you! I was trying to be discreet:) I remember our kiddos playing in the water! You took pictures ( that I never got to see by the way:)) Then your husband was deployed again, and I remember you were incredibly upset! I don't frequent here as much, and I don't remember seeing you as much either!

Anyway, wanna do a "Fries Meet" again???

We will be in the World in June but my 2 of my grand daughters will be there in September. Here is an Ariel outfit for the 3 year old but I was afraid the face was to big for the 8 month old so this is my first applique of Flounder and the flowers to cover up my goof. I found the panels on sale for $2 each was so excited.

Thanks for the nice comments on the first one.

very CUTE!!! I love Flounder!!! He's always been one of my favorite side kicks!!

OK, here is the Alice dress. I really wish I could have done something with an apron, but I only had a yard of the main fabric and a half of the coordinating. I think she likes it because she tried to wear it to school today. I convinced her to save it for Disney!

IMG_0514.jpg

Darn dog!

IMG_0515.jpg

After she went to bed I made a wee purse. And it is wee! I didn't realize it would be so small. When she woke up this morning she said it was perfect. :lovestruc

IMG_0517.jpg

Um, all the junk on the counter is just so you can get the size, lol!

I have a field trip with Jacob and a playdate after school so no sewing for me today. :sad2: I'll try to check in and see what everyone else has made though!

I LOVE that dress!!! The fabric is FABULOUS!!!

I completely SNORT laughed and choked on my diet coke at the picture of Megan giving us a "rump" shot over the pool railing!:rotfl2:

Poor Scrappy...not being appreciated for his modeling talents...poor baby. :sad1:

the purse is indeed wee! VERY adorable!!

so who did you have a playdate with?! :lmao: I would SO have a playdate with you Steph...I'd bring Beau-Jack and we could have a puppy tea party!:cool1:

lots of pages to catch up on, but here are 2 pics I wanted to post.

Here is DD with our 2 labbies Darby (black) will be 15 in Oct, Jessie (yellow) is 6. DD has a temp and cough and runny nose- PLEEEEEZE be gone by next week!

Here is outfit I finished last night- just have to do waist band.
I was going to run some elastic along the inside edge of yellow trim on shorts to gather it just a bit- but DH (who says he can't "see" things unless its already done) says leave them as shorts- what do you think?
sorry this pic is so crummy but its cold and rainy and my house is a mess at the moment....

also- I used fusible velcro for inside, but velcro doesnt seem super-duper strong, but it was easier than button holes or hand sewing snaps-I may add a hook and eye.... I used fabric glue for mickey heads-works awesome!
can't see very well- but this was my first attempt at using a more filled in decorative stitch- they are hearts.

darling darling!!! I love that you have such sweet doggies who will sit still for pictures and I love it that your little girl is already an animal lover! How could she not be?!:goodvibes

So, I totally cased this from Tadamom! I hope you do not mind. My MIL bought the shirt and I had the fabric in my stash. DD loved it yesterday but her little sister was wearing a Snow White custom today. That did not go over well!

Anyway, thanks so much for the cute idea and I hope you do not mind!

Here is the crying over being a monkey girl instead of Snow White!

DSCF9145.jpg

:lmao: Sometimes it's tough to be sisters...We certainly can't have our little sister being ROYAL while we are a MONKEY! Poor Hannah!:sad1: ;)

super cute skirt!!!

question for you ebayers. I am trying to get started on selling my stuff on ebay and was hoping for any tips that anyone would be willing to share with little old me. My 1st auction didn't sell but somehow my pics got all distorted so that may have played a factor.:confused3 I have a couple wthchers on other auctions but no takers yet. Does it just take time to get established or is there something that I am doing wrong? I hope that my stuff is ebay worthy but now I am feeling that ping of rejection. I am hoping to make money for our trip when DH gets home from Iraq because he is super worried about $. SO I figure if I can earn money that we are not counting on then it would make it easier to go. Sorry this is long but I just need some advice and I am feeling lonely today and missing DH. On a side note I found out that he is moving from a pretty safe place to Baghdad and I am less then thrilled. I already am super worried over my bro who is in Ramadi and now I can be super worried about him too. I may be gray by the time they both make it home.

just wanted you to know that y'all are in my prayers!:goodvibes

This is really cute, can you tell me what pattern you used? I love this. I am not so good at paper patterns though.....

It is New Look 6689
6689.jpg

www.patternreview.com has it for $4.49 and there are other reviews for it there.
This was my second time using this- here's my first
[/QUOTE]

Your little girl looks JUST like the kiddie in the picture on the pattern envelope! Do you have her modeling on the side?!

DARLING outfits!! I love ruffles!!!

GRR...Not yet. I don't think I can fit it all in. flapdoodle!

SUCH language!:rotfl2: ;) I had to rearrange my signature to get things in too. It's frustrating b/c it seems like some people have a TON in their signature while others have to carefully pick and choose! grrrr.

As promised, here is my newest creation. I am working on a bunch of outfits for my kids for the beach, we are going down in June and I am taking 2 girlfriends and thier kids (annual no hubby trip). My parents have a place, so I like to treat my friends and the kids have a blast. Well I have completed this dress and have 3 more to go. I promised the girls that I would make them matching dresses for our night on the boardwalk so this is what I decided on. I am thinking about making undie covers (as Roseanna calls them) out of the seersucker fabric but need a pattern. I am also thinking of making Russell a button down out of the seersucker. Do you think it is too girly? It has faint pink stripes running through it. I really want him to coordinate though. I also have several outfits planned for my kids including a crab one and fishy one.

Super cute!!! I LOVE that flower fabric!!! Might I ask where you got it? I'd love to get my hands on some!!!

I just wanted to share with you all a sweet thing that Corey did this morning!
He asked me to look up some videos for him last night. So, I bookmarked them for him. When I got on the computer this morning, a script popped up that said "Thanks Mom", when I hit ok, another popped up that said, "The videos really helped", then, "I really appreciate you helping me" . I know it's just a little thing, but it almost made me cry that he went to the trouble of writing out a script just so I would know how much he appreciated my help! :lovestruc He is really such a wonderful boy!

You know, I need a happy cry smiley!!!! I think MissCammie and Heather could use one of those too!! Anyone have one???

:rotfl2: I could SO use a happy cry smiley!!! The happy cry is always a possibility in pretty much every day of my life!:) :sad1: ;)

corey is a dolly. You have raised him right. That is clear!:goodvibes :goodvibes

A very good morning Dis'ers:surfweb:

I LOVE seersucker! I also love that pattern! Lily gets to pick her clothes out (most of the time) and today she picked the beachprint round neck dress I made and that made me smile! Great job:thumbsup2 I think it would be adorable if Russel had some white shorts and a pink polo. Now I know that some here wouldn't DARE put pink on a boy. But I think it would be adorable w/ his dark hair. DS has DARK brown hair and eyes and looks SO handsome in pink.
Hi Ladies :)

WOW Lacy, first welcome back, hope you can stay with us for a while! Then, Katie's minnie dress is just fabulous. I can see why you got so many compliments. These dresses are just fabulous, so glad you had a great time.

That is too sweet. I love stuff like that. Of course those powers can be used for evil so watch out. A few years ago on April Fools Day we made my moms computer auto correct certain words so for instance if she typed "the" (you have to pick words they type often) then it would correct it to say "Toni is a dork" or whatever. It was SO hilarious. Of course it was especially funny since when she came in that morning EVERYTHING in the office was upside down or backwards, when she finished sorting that out (we were forced to help!) she sat down to work she had to remove all of her keys from her keyboard and figure out where they all went cause she's a hunt and peck typist and we switched them all around. Then she finally sorted that out and we had her screen saver look like her desktop and she couldn't click on anything....ah, it was a good April 1st!!!

I am so far behind again...it seems impossible to keep up with this thread. It moves so fast!! I haven't been sewing much when I really should be...we leave in about 3 weeks! Anyway, I did make this for the kiddos for our 16 hour drive...crayon rolls...not as well made and pretty as the one Tom made, but will have to do....

IMG_5243c.jpg

I find the rick rack around it pretty hard to do...I just can't get it to position right, and had to redo it a few times. I decided to do the CARS crayon roll for ds without the rick rack. The kids love it especially and look forward to having crayons for the trip since I took away all their crayons last week after they decided to show off their artistic side on our entry way tiles, on our walls and behind our couch!!

Jenny

Teresa and Heather - welcome back!!!! I can't wait to read your trip reports and look at pictures.

Maybe I'll skip the rickrack then. I think your crayon rolls are just as lovely as Tom's (sorry Tom!) Don't sell yourself short.

Fries meet sounds great!!!!!! I did kinda fall off the earth after Mark was deployed but now after being put on some medication, I am feeling back to myself and will be around more and more until he comes home and then I will have some other things to attend to for awhile:lmao: I will try to dig out those pics and send them to you. I will pm you with the dates later and we can meet up. There will be 3 more girls for her to play with too because my friends are coming for the whole time this time.

Super cute!!! I LOVE that flower fabric!!! Might I ask where you got it? I'd love to get my hands on some!!!

Thanks! I got the fabric at joanns, it is an exclusive fabric and hard to find. I drove an hour the other day to get 2 yards and i am hoping that I will have enough for the rest of the dresses.

A very good morning Dis'ers:surfweb:

Thanks! So cute about DD, I love when Roseanna picks out my creations too. I like the idea of the polo and the seersucker shorts. I would put him in pink, so long as daddy isn't around. he would have a fit!!!! Oh well, he isn't here to complain. I will be sure to post a pic of all of them together after our beach trip.

I will gladly await your PM's! You are still the only people we have met from the DIS. We had a lovely afternoon I thought, and so want to join you and your kids again! This time I will not assume that my DD will only play in the sand, and not in the water, and will bring a bathingsuit! We are more than willing to meet your friends and their girls as well! It will be so much fun!

Very cute! Love the fabric combo!

Hi Ladies :)

I haven’t been around in a while. I have been so busy! I just wanted to drop by and post a few pics of Princess Katie one our mother/daughter trip to the Disney World in March. We had a wonderful time. Katie LOVED Mickey Mouse and asks to go back to his house all the time :goodvibes I think she has her Daddy just about talked into another trip. We had dinner at 1900 Park Fare and she was a monster. She would only talk and have a picture taken with Cinderella. I canceled out BBB reservations after the not so pleasant dinner. The rest of the trip was great and we will be going again in March of 09 for an second mother/daughter trip. Is it too early to start planning customs? It was so funny right before we left my oldest daughter Leanne said "Mom, I am starting to think this trip is all about what Katie is going to wear and not about the real reason we are going.... ME!" :lmao: She is going to be such a fun teenager!

Well here are the pics I have. The pictures I took are stuck on my camera until I find the battery. My friend sent me these.

Katie in the Cinderella dress I made (I was sewing sequins on the night before we left):
th_katiecindi1.jpg

This is the dress Katie wore to the MK. She was stopped about every 5 steps. When someone said how cute she was she would say "Yeah" and smile. I was also asked about 20 times where I bought it. It was such a simple dress, but she was a show stopper. It is really not that long. She has her legs bent or something.
th_katieminnie.jpg

I will post a few more later. My computer is running so slow.

Lacy-

Ohh... I wanted to say I am totally impressed by everything I have seen lately. Just lurking makes me want to sew something :)

Love the dresses. I might have to CASE that Minnie one!

Your crayon rolls look great! I keep thinking I might make those for favors for my DD2 (soon to be 3 :sad1: ) b-day party. I have a coloring book and crayons for favors and if I have time I guess I will do the crayon rolls but if not, oh well! I have to finish their skirts first! :scared1: I have until 6/7 to get it all done, but I swear I am the slowest person around!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: If I did that to my Mom, she'd probably just chuck the computer! She'd never figure out what we did! I would love to do that to my DH though! He would eventually get it (like all DH's, he's a little slow sometimes ;) ) but it would frustrate him to no end in the meantime!

Okay so I realize I haven't actually MADE anything yet...but I am a weensy bit FRUSTRATED with patterns for adults.

I'm not sure if clothing sizes translate to pattern sizes...for example is a size 8 dress from the store going to be the same as a size 8 pattern? Or are pattern sizes smaller?

the reason I ask is b/c I am on the scrawny side. I'm not super short...just marginally short...5' 4 and a HALF...very nearly 5'5! But I'm just bony. I wear between a 0 and 2, depending on the brand. (I have ulcers...which is why I'm scrawny. It's not pretty. It's icky.) So I thought if I could learn to sew I could just MAKE stuff in my size...but I can't FIND stuff in my size even in patterns or Juniors patterns!

Seriously y'all...I have to shop at Gap Kids to find dresses that fit me. Children's patterns don't usually go past size 8...I'm a children's 12 usually. A children's 16 is way too big. I am in clothing no man's land!

does everyone feel sorry for me now?:sad1:

really I'm just wondering if I'm missing smaller patterns or if I'm out of luck!

I am SO hiding in my office right now. There is a difficult parent demanding that a consequence for her son be lifted b/c "he couldn't help it..." (not only could he HELP it, he premeditated it AND laughed about it afterwards!) I won't lift it and I'm not going to argue about it either so I'm letting the principal argue about it...but if she sees me in the hall it will NOT be good!

:rolleyes1

*ahem*

I need to change my ticker on the bottom, my induction is scheduled for 7/2/2008 now!   So now my ticker is a week later than it should be, I have seven days less than it says! Yeah!

I tried to get my doctor to schedule it on 7/1 so I could get out on 7/3 instead of 7/4 but she said that Tuesday's are her surgery days and Wednesdays are her induction days. Here is to hoping that at least one of the old wives tales about how to start labor are actually true!!!! I am usually pretty good and dilated (with DD 4 I was dilated to a 4 and 100% effaced and with DD 2 I was dilated to a 5, and had been since 36 weeks and 100% effaced - could someone please explain to me why I just don't go into labor then?????) when I go in for my inductions so hopefully it won't take much. I swear sometimes I post just so I can see how far along I am.

Miss Cammie, take your bust, waist and hip measurements and compare them to those for the pattern. I haven't purchased a commercial pattern in a coon's age, so I'm not sure if the measurements for each size are printed on the envelope or if you'll need to check the size chart for the specific company on the internet or in a pattern company. Just like different brands of clothing, different pattern companies may have different measurements for the same size.

Saying you need a "scrawny" size is the same as my BFF saying she needs a "big" size! *LOL*

You might want to see if there are any junior patterns available. They used to run from size 1 or size 3 to size 13 or size 15. They are designed for a different figure type than misses clothing and might work better for you. Again, compare your measurements to those for the specific pattern company.

One other measurement you'll need before you're ready to start sewing is your back neck length. Strange one, huh? It's from the bone at the base of your neck to your natural waistline. That will help fit the length of the bodice so the hips are in the right place and not too high or low. You won't need it to select the pattern, but before you begin cutting... :)

Hope your office is comfy and you can hide out as long as necessary. I've been working with my office door shut all week, which I detest. Deadlines. Yuck!

I know you are excited to have (an even sooner) end in sight! You can leave 24hrs after the baby is born if there are no complications. I had to stay 24hrs after the epidural was removed, so I had them remove it ASAP (it was a c-section and they made me keep it 16ish hrs). I left less than 48 hrs after my section. This is only if you WANT to go home!! I actually stayed an extra day with the first one. I wanted all the extra help I could get!

cute skirt!

Hi, haven't been on here for a long time....just wanted to let anyone know who goes on the Disney Cruise....you know the vests that the waiters wear in Artist Pallete...they start out black and white and then reverse to the colorful Mickey side? They sell that fabric in the gift shop on board! It was in a lot of 5 yards premeasured for $25. It was one of my best finds on my recent cruise.

Happy sewing...haven't been sewing at all lately... bad me. Have to wait for another trip with Makayla!

Susan

Have to mention that I went to the DVC meeting on the ship and my name was drawn and I won $300 ship board credit!!! YEA WOW...I was so excited I scared the guy who was drawing names!

Hi Susan! I'm jealous of your cool fabric score!

HI!
I just found your thread and i was looking through it. I hope you don't mind me crashing the party?

I just had to say the outfits you guys have made your little ones and grandkids are wonderful!!! I love them!

I really need to get my sewing machine fixed! I am having problems with my tension. I have never made my kids clothes but i have made a bunch of American Girl dresses. The 1st one i made happened to be Sleeping beauty's dress. I was so impressed with myself! Little did I know with silky material you have to do something special with the edges. Oh well it looks cute!

I am really tempted to try to make my little girl some cute things. In fact my girlfriend and I were just talking how we need to get together and make our girls some cute summer dresses! She was just saying how she doesn't know any one else who likes to sew until we started talking. We figured it would be so much more fun to let the kids run and play and we can gab and sew some stuff together!

Anyway I just wanted to say Keep up the great work!

Welcome! In some ways I think little girl clothes are easier than AG doll clothes. It seems like the same amount of work, it is just easier with bigger pieces. Can't wait to see what you make, and I would LOVE to see pics of the doll clothes! Especially sleeping beauty's dress!!!

Hi Guys, Here are my latest tries - the short set is for Tim, and the dress is for Elizabeth - I think I might make hannah a flounder outfit to match (hmmm, where did I see that idea) lol!~ do you think the dress needs something more??? This is the portrait peasant dress, I did a size 7 for her - does anyone else thing the elastic for the neck is too big?
th_100_0837.jpg
(sorry, accidently lost the peasant dress photo)

I always make the neck elastic shorter than the pattern calls for on the peasant dress/top--I have made more than 20 of those! :scared1: I usually cut out the length the pattern calls for or a little shorter, then put it in and pull it until it looks good or try it on whoever it is for and mark it the size I want. The sleeve elastic is pretty accurate though. I think I just don't like a really loose neck. That sounded weird. :rotfl:

The rest of the trip was great and we will be going again in March of 09 for an second mother/daughter trip. Is it too early to start planning customs? It was so funny right before we left my oldest daughter Leanne said "Mom, I am starting to think this trip is all about what Katie is going to wear and not about the real reason we are going.... ME!" :lmao: She is going to be such a fun teenager!

Well here are the pics I have. The pictures I took are stuck on my camera until I find the battery. My friend sent me these.

Katie in the Cinderella dress I made (I was sewing sequins on the night before we left):

This is the dress Katie wore to the MK. She was stopped about every 5 steps. When someone said how cute she was she would say "Yeah" and smile. I was also asked about 20 times where I bought it. It was such a simple dress, but she was a show stopper. It is really not that long. She has her legs bent or something.

I will post a few more later. My computer is running so slow.

Lacy-

Ohh... I wanted to say I am totally impressed by everything I have seen lately. Just lurking makes me want to sew something :)

Very cute! Love to see pics of Katie. I would alos love to see a bigger pic of her minnie dress!!

Anyone have one???

awwww. I can only hope my boys will be sweet teenagers.

I am so far behind again...it seems impossible to keep up with this thread. It moves so fast!! I haven't been sewing much when I really should be...we leave in about 3 weeks! Anyway, I did make this for the kiddos for our 16 hour drive...crayon rolls...not as well made and pretty as the one Tom made, but will have to do....

th_IMG_5243c.jpg

I find the rick rack around it pretty hard to do...I just can't get it to position right, and had to redo it a few times. I decided to do the CARS crayon roll for ds without the rick rack. The kids love it especially and look forward to having crayons for the trip since I took away all their crayons last week after they decided to show off their artistic side on our entry way tiles, on our walls and behind our couch!!

Jenny

Teresa and Heather - welcome back!!!! I can't wait to read your trip reports and look at pictures.

cool! I really need to make some of these...someday...

:rolleyes1

*ahem*

My DD10 wears a size 12. I have found a few patterns. What do you want to make? A skirt? A dress? If you want to start out with something really simple, I would suggest making a pair of shorts for Teddy (pj shorts even if that takes some pressure off :rotfl: ) with Carla's easy fit pants pattern. I'm not sure what size Sally wears, but I think the pattern goes up to an 8 and I just enlarged that a tad for Jayden. I can't wait for you to start sewing!   Honestly, I improve and learn something new EVERY time I make something!!

Yay! I was induced with my 4 kiddos, for various reasons, but I became convinced I'd never go into labor on my own! I was always dilated and effaced and going nowhere. :confused3

Miss Cammie!

Thought that might get your attention! ;)

Here's a link to the Simplicity pattern website size charts.

http://http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?page=section/fittips/howmeas.htm

Check out the Junior and the Girls size ranges.

Children's clothing usually begin around size 3 or 4 and go up to size 7 or 8.

Then they graduate into "Girls" or "Boys" sizing beginning with size 7 or 8 to size 14 or 16.

Similar to the infants to toddlers to childrens size progressions, each takes into consideration physical changes, which is why some of the sizes overlap a bit.

Just tested the link, and it isn't working for me. Here is the actual URL:

miss cammie you HAVE to measure your self but most important measure the pattern! You will frustrate yourself beyond believe if you don't. Don't be afraid to use some clear tape to fold up patterns and secure with tape to make it where the fit is supposed to be (btw waist measurement is your natural waist, when you bend your side creases thats your waist line measurement) Have your dh measure for you. Much simpler.

Good luck with hiding out. I don't envy your job in the least LOL

I showed her this thread and your lovely work - she's been very inspired!

Ok, so how soon is too soon to start a countdown?
If you could see the stupid ticker in my signature you would know that I have 4 months, 3 weeks and 5 days left. I think it's too soon. But I am all excited w/ planning and I want to spread the joy.

Also has anybody found or made e-cards that are free and disney themed? I'd like to send some out to our friends who are joining us. Maybe I'll just have to use good ol' snail mail. But then of course, I'd have to make my own cards too cause, well...it's part of my neurosis;)
