It's hard to say with the fabric departments. I have heard that when they remodel, they will close the fabric departments, but when our little walmart remodeled they kept it! As far as I know, it's the only walmart in our area that still has fabric!

It today is another one of my kiddos b-day's so here is my 11 yr old Khrystian with his shirt i made him and his new DC shoes .
B-day on sunday . But after i sleep a lil' more :rolleyes1
th_DSCF1705.jpg

So that's what Khrystian looks like! ;) What a handsome boy!!! You did a great job on the shirt Misty!!! You should be very proud!

The pain continued all night long so I decided to keep sewing just to get my mind off the pain....this is what I sew last night they are not perfect as I did not finish all the seams (mother will be so upset with me!!!) the fabric was really bad as it keep sliding from the machine...

th_2008_04180001.jpg

I am a little worried about my headache as I have shunts (VP and LPs) to alleviate pressure in the brain I already have 7 surgeries in the past 5 years and this shunts keep failing... I guess if by sunday I still have the pain I will go to the Hospital...Well I am not going to stress...like my friend Dori will say just keep sewing, just keep sewing, just keep sewing , sewing, sewing.....

Linnette

Linnette, go to the doctor!!! You have me worried!!! So, for my peace of mind, you need to go! NOW! ;)

The shirts look great. I'd love to be able to wear something that cute!

I've been reading all your posts and love all the creations I've seen. I finally decided I would setup a little sewing space in my basement. I decided I'd just start with some pillowcase dresses and off to Walmart I went for material. Well, it's been awhile since I've been to Walmart - and I was told they no longer sell fabric:confused3 . Guess I'm out of the loop as usual.

So where do I go for inexpensive disney fabric?

:welcome !! I hope you find a Walmart with fabric. Most of ours still have them. Even our brand new Super Walmart put one in, after they got so many complaints when people heard that they weren't going to have one! Complaining works!!!

Here's my latest creation. We never seem to have the perfect outfit for downtown Disney, so I decided to create this one. I found the applique designs on YCMT and just altered them. The little mickey head on the girls shirt, and on the purse is a button. I'm happy with how it came out. It was fun to make, except that word Downtown. It took me a while to applique all of that.

Elisa, my goodness!!! That is so darling and clever!!!!! You come up with the cutest ideas! I love all that detail!!!

HeatherSue! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?! I'm SHOCKED!;) We had a neighbor that used to shove "kitty willows" up his nose and race his brother to see who could the most up there...they were in the ER a lot.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Baby is being nice! Hopefully I'll slow down on my weight gain though. I've put on 10 pounds in the last 8 weeks and I'm not happy about it! I really want to stay around 25 pounds and I've already gained 16. I have 10-11 weeks left (they will induce me early since my babies are big) so hopefully I can stay in that range. I go to the doctor today.....it's time for that yucky Glucose test! I hate that stuff! I was supposed to go yesterday (first thing in the morning) but my DH scheduled himself somewhere else so I didn't have anyone to watch the girls so I had to reschedule myself for today at 11:15 and I am starving (since you have to fast before you take it)! I hate this stuff! Oh well, as long as the baby is healthy I can stand to miss a meal (or 2 or 3!).

I am sick to my stomach just thinking about that horribly nasty stuff!! YUCK!!! ICKKY POO!!

The Dis automatically sensored the word for her. Aren't they helpful!
Hehehehe....I'm just teasin' ya! Glad you have nicer weather. From your pictures it looks like you guys have a beautiful yard!!! :goodvibes

She does have a beautiful yard! Nice location too!

Isn't this weather wonderful?! We've been playing outside most of the morning. It's 70 degrees and sunny here! I've been walking around like a dork with my capris rolled up and my sleeves rolled up, trying to get a tan on my blindingly white arms and legs.

It's glorious weather!!!! I had my pant legs rolled up today too. Brian thought he might try that look out for himself! :rotfl:
I'm really touched by how wonderful you all are here.  In college, I used to be barked at and I actually got taken as a date to one of those "Dog parties" or whatever they're called...you know what I am talking about?? the parties where the guy with the UGLIEST DATE wins? yeah. And I was 50 lbs lighter then, too.

Seriously Angela, looking at your pictures, that is really hard to believe!! You are so beautiful!! I hope you know that! Repeat after me, "I am beautiful!"

Hey everyone! thanks for all the great compliments on my hair! Oh, and Steph, we cannot be twins, beause then I'd have to be the "smart" one, and I was the "smart" one all growing up, if YKWIM.

I wanted to cry reading your story about the "dog party". That is just so cruel! I can't imagine that you were ever ugly! I think you're beautiful! You and Steph would both be the cute and smart twin!

My Wal-Mart just closed their fabric department and when I went back home to Alabama a few weeks ago, I asked one of the ladies there if it would be closing and she said that eventually all Wal-Mart fabric departments will close whenever that store does its remodeling. This particular Wal-Mart at one time was the absolute largest they had and I believe it is still one largest out there. So I'm guessing it just depends on when they all do the remodel. The Florence store that I was at had done a remodel around a year or so ago, so it may be a while before they lose the fabric department.

Thankfully that employee is mistaken! We just got a brand spankin' new WalMart with a fabric department! Plus, they turned an old WalMart into a Super Walmart about 8 months ago and they still have fabric. I know that the future of WalMart fabrics isn't clear, but they haven't totally given up on them!

Cool!!!! I love that the Wal-Mart back home still carries fabric b/c my MIL and GMIL will pick up fabric for me all the time. They are just too sweet b/c I never have to reimburse them for it!!!

I was talking to the lady at the Wal-Mart in Pineville (over the river from where I live) and she said that they were supposed to close last April but enough people called and complained and they kept the fabric department open. She said that the Pineville Wal-Mart out sells 11 other Wal-Marts in this area and that is why they have kept it open. She then said that the one in Alexandria (where I am) will be closing before too long. Which I kind of figured that because they don't seem to carry much of anything. They only have half the fabric that the Pineville WM has. I keep crossing the river because I just fell in love with their fabric department. Anyways the point to this rant is she said to call the WM Home Office and complain and if enough people complain about the possible closure than they will look into keeping it open.

Sorry I didn't see this before I left today. I hope everything went well and they are going to pay for what they did to your van!

It's GONE, thankfully!! I really hope it stays away until December, at least. It was about 70 degrees out yesterday- it was wonderful!! Tessa was trying to see if the blossoms on our ***** willow tree smelled good. :)

Hee, Heather got censored! Clean it up over there!

Happy birthday! His shirt and sneaks look great!

The tops look really cool: I hope you get some relief from your headaches soon.

This is crazy cool! I love all the detail you put into it. :thumbsup2

Hey everyone! thanks for all the great compliments on my hair! Oh, and Steph, we cannot be twins, beause then I'd have to be the "smart" one, and I was the "smart" one all growing up, if YKWIM.

I think you would be the pretty and smart twin, for sure.

I just got back from the doctor. I think I feel worse now than I did last night. She said it was just sinuses, but she was genuinely concerned about how red my throat is. If it doesn't clear up she wants be back in the office to find out what it is caused by. She did my blood preassure and looked in my chart and saw that it had been a little high the last time I was there and since it was a little high this time she gave me blood preassure medicine. So hopefully I will start feeling better soon. Thanks for all the well wishes and for the compliments on the stuff that I have made. Ya'll are too kind.

Yuck! Did she take a culture and find out what's in your throat? Hope you are feeling better soon.

Here are Megan's socks! Before:

I guess I still used big pieces because it's more wavy than curly, but we'll take it. She got some compliments at the bus stop. I did pick up some styling lotion like Elisa suggested and we'll see how that goes.

I made her wear her monkey dress and told her to tell all her friends if they wanted one, have their moms bid on it tonight. Megan said she would only tell her girl friends, which I thought was an excellent point.

First of all- :snooty:

Second, Megan's hair looks great! I'm seriously considering trying this on myself! I'm sure Henry will just LOVE me coming to bed looking like that!

Third, that girl of yours is too funny!

I just finished my 1st sewing class (Im such the novice still:lmao: ) but this is exactly what I wanted to make for my twin girls for our trip this fall, can you tell me how you made the mickey head? I was looking for zebra or leopard fabric to do mine but Im scared:scared1: lol!

Anyway, Ive been following this amazing thread since I found it a few days ago & figured nows as good a time as any to jump in & say hi even though I only have a pair of elastic waist pj bottoms & a sundress under my belt!:flower3:

here is the mickey head I used as an appplique template.
mickeyhead.jpg

If you need help with applique the applique tutorial in a previous post is how I learned. Using good materials (heat and bond LITE is a must) and a stabilizer is the key, plus paying attention to needle position when turning. She explains it really well in the tutorial. I am really flattered that you like it. I am fairly new at sewing too so don't be scared it's not that bad. You just have to take the plunge and try. If you mess up, it's only a little fabric. Recut and try it agian. I got that zebra fabric at Walmart. They had cheetah too.

Ooh, I'm posting up a storm tonight!

Okay, so we are hopefully going to WDW in Sept. after the baby comes (if I keep my nerves up!). And of course I'm worrying about customs. Now I know I don't have time to do customs for every ride (like some of you!!!). But I do have several meals planned with ADR's and of course will need customs for them.

Crystal Palace - Winnie The Pooh dress (already have the fabric)

Cinderella's Royal Table - I think I want a Cinderella appliqued dress for this (already bought the bows and some fabric possibly unless I change my mind)

Chef Mickey's - I would love to do a skirt (kind of like LisaZoe's Winnie the Pooh one) where I stripwork it and put different characters on every other panel (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy). How many panels are usually done on these? Can I squeeze in Pluto? Or is five too many? Or maybe I'll just stick to a Minnie Dot outfit for here. WIth a matching shirt of course!

Askershus - I would like to do a skirt like the one for Chef Mickey's but with a different princess for each panel.........has anyone done anything like this? I'm thinking Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Belle, and Ariel. Again with a matching shirt.

Of course that leaves a Minnie Dot outfit, Friends Around The World outfit, maybe a JoJo outfit (I do have the Hollywood and Vine breakfast w/ characters scheduled too.......) possibly a Nemo outfit, and Animal Kingdom outfit.

If anyone has any of the panel skirts and shirts that I could CAB and would like to share the pictures I would appreciate it! Any helpful ideas are also appreciated.

I did this princess patchwork with a different princess on each square. Got the fabric at walmart. They may be a little small for panels.

A close up of my correction. I ended up having to all the ribbon because (1) my hand sewing abilities could use a little work and (2) when I was ironing, my iron was too hot :sad2: and I ended up burning the fabric a little and the ribbon covers up most of it. I'm glad I'm done with this one!!!!!!!

Picture119.jpg

Now, I have to stop sewing and finish scrapbooking some calendars for Mother's Day so I can get those sent out before we leave in 8 days. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Emily

So wow I will not get caught up anytime soon.:surfweb:

I love all the new outfits! And :welcome: to everyone new...like I've been here for so long...:lmao:

For everyone that is  , hope you feel better soon!:flower3:

Anywho...been sewing all day. Made three pair of shorts for my DD and her BFF and her little sister. They are going to the zoo tomorrow. Decided late last night that they needed matching outfits...you people have made me an addict! So I made shorts and did little appliques with fraid edges. (Did I spell that right, or are my edges afraid of something?:confused3) I would love to show you a picture, but my DH has hidden the camera.:headache: Drives me nuts!!!!

SOOOOOOOOOO...everybody have a great weekend...I'm off to take my DD to a sleepover then DS to soccer practice then tomorrow am we have pictures for soccer at 8:20...don't they know it is Saturday? Then a house full of company the rest of the weekend...probably should have cleaned house instead of sewing. oops!;)

How would go about fixing it?

My seam ripper slipped when opening button holes.:sad1: :sad1: I'm so upset, I didn't make any mistakes on the rest of the shirt.

Thanks, Emily
You poor thing! Hope you can fix it!:wizard:

I am stressing out today.

WOW!!!!!!! That is incredible!

Oh! And add a buttonhole cutter to your wishlist! :)
It's on my list now!

:wizard: Good luck with that! I had to go the doctor this winter for the first time ever as an adult to get antibiotics for a sinus infection. It knocked me down hard. I was feeling lousy (even after antibiotics) for a good 6 weeks.

I just found a good tutorial for making those juicebox purses. It's got lots of pictures:

http://www.mormonchic.com/crafty/juice-pouch-purse.asp

I missed a couple of pages a while back, so sorry if this was already posted. I added it to the bookmarks (under bags), too.
How cute!

Thanks for all your help with my tear, I got it fixed and here are some pictures of the finished product

Great job on the fix! The whole outfit looks great!

Have a great trip!!!! Looks like I'll probably just miss you. I arrive on May 4th.

I made my oldest DD's American Girl Doll a dress to match my DD's shirt. That dress was harder to make than the girls' sizes! It has been a good 10 years since I've done buttonholes so I was afraid of that but they came out good until I too had a small mishap with the seam ripper. I cut the thread of the buttonhole on one of the buttonholes. Not a huge deal since it is just for a doll but I've got to get a buttonhole cutter before I do the buttonholes on the girls' shirts!
Molly3.jpg

Molly1.jpg

When cutting buttonholes, put a pin at the end of the buttonhole and your seam ripper will not cut beyond that. BTDT too!

How many posts do I need before I can add pictures and do the "quote" thingy??

Sue

I was thinking for the Chef Mickey outfit, why not put Mickey on the shirt or make a stripwork jumper and put him on the bodice. Then have the other characters on the skirt. Here's a couple of Mickey Mouse cooking pics:
clipmickc1.jpg

clipmickcook1.jpg

You could do the same with Askerhus-just pick her favorite princess to stand alone on the top or bodice and put the others on the skirt.
These are really cute !

My Wal-Mart just closed their fabric department and when I went back home to Alabama a few weeks ago, I asked one of the ladies there if it would be closing and she said that eventually all Wal-Mart fabric departments will close whenever that store does its remodeling. Our Walmart remodeled and kept their fabric department. The other closest Walmart has a fabric department too. They are both Super Walmart stores. I am not sure it WalMart has any rhyme or reason to which stores keep their departments. I would complain to your local store.
Sorry I didn't see this before I left today. I hope everything went well and they are going to pay for what they did to your van!
