Dude, everything looks great!!

Thanks for teh bow tutorial! I need that!!

I have 10 outfits to make, and 13 days, that's including the kids' 3-day weekend next weekend. So, 10 sewign days for 10 outfits.

Everyone send me "sew fast but don't screw up!!" vibes. :rotfl2:

And I am totally CASE-ing that dress 2b4him posted!! Gorgeous!!

Okay ladies and Tom I have a question. How do you store your YCMT patterns and instructions after you have printed them? Do you use an envelope or a notebook or what? I just printed my second pattern and I need to figure out the best way to store them so they don't get lost or messed up.

I slip them in 8 1/2"x11" page protectors and put them in a 3-ring binder. I now have 3 binders full!

Id take a pic and post it except my laptop had an accident so Im on the computer downstairs which we dont load photos on to -DH wants them all on our Viao- and thats connected to the tv he is watching.
Which basically boils down to- no downloading photos unless DH is around to do it for me.
Cant decide which pattern to do..NEED HELP choosing. For Pooh multi color toile (are you all sick of me posting about this? Im so sorry, I just cant decide and could really use some opinions on these patterns.
Butterick B4112
this is lined, mid-calf, semi-fitted bodice- bodice appears shorter than pattern photo lead me to believe- here is photo from a review I found on patternreview.com. she used organza and satin crepe)

The other one is Butterick 4054 -posted on page 71
unlined, loose fitting is how package describes. I thought I would do the pinefore, but realized today it's an apron style-tying at sides, not tied at the back like I want.
I do have a nice blue broadcloth that would work well as a contrast fabric- not sure how to work it into second pattern if I go that route...
opinions please
I was thinking of using portrait dress (CarlaC) but I downloaded it to the laptop- that is now dead.
So I just really want a cute dress, with bodice that covers check and part of tummy-hope to use for both birthday and disney trip.
Okay Im going to bed and hope to check in tomorrow to see what you girls have to say. Your opinion means so much! Thanks for any help you can offer.

I have them saved in a file on my computer. The ones that I use frequently, I've printed off and started putting in a 3-ring binder. HOWEVER, some of these patterns are very large. They'd almost take up a binder on their own. I'm considering taking them to Kinko's, laminating the front and last page, and having them bound in one of those wire spiral binding things. SO, it would be one spiral bound for each pattern. I've not done it yet, but that's my plan.

Oh, I am glad you clarified this for me. I looked for the thread where mom's were being flamed for boutique/ character clothing and I could not find it. I thought, "Why would a mom be flamed for chosing to dress her kids in boutique/ character clothing?" That's what I was referring to when I said, "I have always found that the people who feel the need to judge other people's decisions are typically the people who are least secure about their own decisions."
This post was what got my wheels turning...

It seems they feel very strongly about it. I have never considered that before.

I may have been annoying people without even knowing it

can someone pm me the thread link

Okay, I want to see the thread where people are saying they don't like customs or character clothes. Where is it?

I have always found that the people who feel the need to judge other people's decisions are typically the people who are least secure about their own decisions.

I have so enjoyed sewing disney-themed clothing for my girls over the last year. My DD3 is really the only kid I ever see in boutique clothing around where we live. My friends don't "get it" which is why I am so thankful for this thread. You girls "get it".

I'd like the link too please!

I saw the same Minnie Dot fabric at my Hancocks yesterday. Does anyone want any? PM me and I will go get it. It is the exact same one that was posted. I would guess that there was probably about 3 yards. I can't remember the exact price, it was either $4.99 or $6.99. tomorrow is "Cooper and Mommy's day". The boy loves to shop, so he wouldn't mind going buy to pick it up (and it would keep me from spending money somewhere else!).

WOW! I will reply to this since it was my post that you said "got your wheels turning". As you can see by my post that you copied and pasted-I said nothing about ANYONE being "flamed". I had never considered people did not like boutique clothes. I have no idea how it got to the point of "flaming" and "judging" parenting skills.
I have to say I feel I am being "blamed" for someone twisting what I said. So I think I am going back to sewing and keeping my mouth shut on this board.

I'm sorry, Cindee. I was just confused. I wanted to find the thread because I was confused. I read the thread and I can see that no one was being mean. I misunderstood. I, too, could not imagine why wearing boutique clothing would bother anyone. It seemed so strange.
You didn't say anything wrong. Can you forgive me? :)

ok, you know your up to late sewing when you start and realize something isnt right... than you figure out you threaded the needle with the bobbin thread. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Hello...I'm so fed up with :wizard:...I'm thinking of not even bothering with it anymore and just sew for the girls. The problem is, is that I have so many ideas, and their closets are full! :rotfl: I love when people offer you VERY low amounts for what you have listed...okay..I worked on this dress for about 20 hours, but sure you can have it for nothing..and hey, let me thrown in free shipping to the other side of the planet...no problem...:lmao:
I wouldn't budge on the price if I was you. Even though I thought the price was out of my range. I thought that outfit was worth every dime.

Too cute!!! Great job on the applique! Im thinking of taking it on too. and i love the cut of the white shirt she has on- very sweet. I love to see girls in sweet stuff- Im shocked at the cut of clothes in the stores- even Disney Stores. The skirt looks so fun!

Edited to add...I think Im gonna go with this pattern for my multi-colored Pooh toile (posted earlier today) Has anyone tried this? Im too tired now to trace pattern- so tomorrow, right after I drive Kayla to the vet and drop her off for Heartworm treatment...

Doxie pics- so cute!! Reminds me of a standard Doxie that used to come to my agility class- he was hysterical to watch- he hated my dog and would run off course to bite her feet. Upsetting to my dog while I laughed so hard I almost peed!
I love this pattern. It will look cute with the Pooh fabric you had picked out.

I store them on my computer and the pattern peices that I have printed out I store them in a big ziploc bag.

I was thinking of using portrait dress (CarlaC) but I downloaded it to the laptop- that is now dead.
To get a copy of the pattern that you downloaded you can go to your library that YCMT keeps on you. You have to sign into your profile and then there will be a link there for you to re-download what you had already paid for.

all right , girls and guys, I have been soooo busy trying to get ready for my trip. Almost here! I am so excited. I hope I have enough stuff! :goodvibes I haven't sewed much the last few days, trying to get all my vacation goodies together. I have so much to catch up on, it is impossible! haha

On another note, for those of you that pray, remember my FIL tomorrow. He is having prostate surgery. They found cancer in his prostate, so hopefully the surgery will take care of it. Just remember him and my family in your prayers.

Also, remember me and my girls, we are traveling on Tuesday, and I hope we have a safe trip!

Thanks!

Tiff

Ok that is just weird. Why would people completely hate customs. I don't understand why what I put on my child (other than obscene things) would bother someone. Oh well I guess I will be annoying when we go to WDW.
I feel that I should apologize for this comment. I read the thread that was being referenced and I didn't see that anyone was annoyed by customs or really hated them at all. So many apologies for the comment.

Okay, so I'm pretty new to the whole custom clothing thing but I did want to share with you my quilt that I made for my DH for Christmas a couple of years ago.
I came up with the design and appliques. This was my first quilt ever.
I've done several other Disney appliques but they were for friends and I don't have photos to share.
We are going to Disneyland in December and I'm starting to plan out my projects for our kids. You all do so many beautiful things!

That is so beautiful. I wish I could do something that complex.

That is gorgeous! I love it, you did a great job designing it.

I feel like I just finished a marathon. I haven't been able to get online for 5 days... and I had about 45 pages to catch up on. I skimmed... a lot. :rolleyes1 But I paid very close attention ... the outfits look great and the kids are adorable!

Real quick:
Eyore4Ever149– the blue and yellow mickey outfit looks great! I'm think it looks amazing without the mickey head (that was you, right? If not, whoever did it - it looks great!)

Camelotcats - glad the sale went well! I kind of lurk on your pre-trippie too and I would be freaking out if I had to do the same thing. It's funny how much money and alcohol will help with certain situations. Not that I am advocating such behavior. :rolleyes1 But it does help...

CampbellScot - I just so happen to lurk on your trip report. And I have to say, it's great to see (read?) you over here. It makes the wait between chapters much more bearable. Not that you shouldn't be cranking out those chapters....

And I love all of the pettiskirts! I have several nieces who need those... Ok, that wasn't quick at all. Goodnight all.

That is the coolest quilt I have ever seen! :worship: Welcome!

I hope you have a wonderful time, the weather has been just great lately. We'll pray for your FIL.

I got one more outfit finished this weekend, and I even tackled applique with the last of my princess fabric.

the applique's are nothing special, but I am just glad to have successfully completed one thanks to the GREAT tutorial posetd here:worship: :worship: Thank you to the op on that one!!!!!!!! It really helped a newbie.

Lovethat skirt! We made the same shirts a few years ago! They still have them!

Okay, fixed the button hole problem. I don't really know how though.

Anyway, here is a picture of what I was working on.

Picture101.jpg

The bow is weird. I need to work on bow tying.

Emily

This is so pretty. I can never do bows either.

I finally finished DD9 's (almost 10) birthday outfit. We used Carla's simply sweet pattern. I had to adjust it to her size since the pattern only went up to a size 8. I hope that didnt mean people over 8 won't like to wear it. I think its just a cute pattern for everyone. I would like to say that Carla's pattern was simply amazing!!!! It was 118 pages of glorious info and really good tips. I followed right along lickety split! Great directions!!!:thumbsup2

Ok so here are the final pics. Then I have to wrap it up and give it to her. I told her to act surprised!
