How cute! I think my DD might even wear that. I love the zebra! I used to applique but my machine was really stiff today. I think I have to get it professionally cleaned if I'm going to keep lurking here.

I've been lurking for a long while and you've inspired me to make a shirt for my tomboy DD. She loves Cars so I made her this Butterick 3832. Unfortunately it is WAY too short. I'm going to make it again as it was so easy. I haven't used my sewing machine in over 4 years. Thanks again for sharing all your amazing work!!!!!!

Very cute. Well at least keep the shirt around as a play shirt and it will be fun to make another! Good job for a 4 years break

OK, I did it. Entirely from stash, in 6 hours, I have made a Peter Pan top that DD's in love with even though it does not have either TickTock or Tinker Bell. DH even gave it a 2 thumbs up! Thanks, HeatherSue!

I'd forgotten how tiring applique is - I'm out of practice. And, I need a new sewing chair, so that's not helping. I'm sitting waaaaaay low.

In 12.5 hours, we'll be leaving!

Now I don't need all of it so it's going in the Garage to be set up as a work shop bench - DH is happy I found it. The warehouse closed down hence the great deal. I thought those fabric rollers would be great for quilt making - since I'm not really up to the buying bolts of fabric just yet


ooooh and we have a craft, sewing show here next weekend so DH has told me he'll babysit and i'll go and explore Boy I love that man


and I'd also like to say I've jumped back on the weight loss wagon as it collected me from it's round the world trip and I'm down 2kg (I think 4.5lbs I don't know all your stuff confuzzles me )

Those of you who've done the Simply Sweet halter style empire waste version...did you do the back elastic casing with elastic before you
attached the bodice to the skirt?

Is that a dumb question? I thought I read the instructions carefully, but it looks like you do the back elastic before you attach the skirt. Which is presactly what I did. The empire waste version leaves just a little un-elastic free edge to attach the gathered skirt is awkward to work with. I had no problemo with the front...but the back was a bugger.

It's such a quick project, I'm experimenting with the long waste version with ties this time. My last one was an elastic neck...which did turn out very nicely. BUT, I'll hold out with the back elastic/casing till I get advice from my sewing peeps.

If I was a drinking woman, I'd be partaking right about now.
So, a hand full of M&M's and a diet pepsi will suffice.

I have a Singer Futura CE-150! I am really just starting to learn how to use it, but I LOVE it so far!

I agree, the elastic part threw me for a loop! That is what I used on the zebra outfit, but I did the natural waist with tied straps! It was so confusing, I ripped the back apart 3 times trying to get it right! I think you will find it easier with the natural waist, as it does have more fabric left for attaching!

I just have a question. I'm going to start making Violette's outfits for Disneyworld and I'm not sure what size to make them for her. She is 19 months old. She weighs between 24-25 lbs. and is 33 inches tall. She's big for her age. I just made Carla's simply sweet tops and pants in a size 1 for her and they fit her pretty good. There is no room to grow. Would it be wiser to make a size 3 and hope for that won't be too big? We are going to Disney in Sept. so she will be 2 years and 1 month old. Thanks for the advice!

I finally found a peasant top pattern that fits! I gave it one more try with a Butterick (after having no luck with on-line ones, McCalls, and Simplicity). Well, once I add 4 inches to the length! I made it out of muslin last night and made DD try it on first thing (length was 1/2" past her belly button before hemming!) then adjusted the length.

What pattern did you use for this top? All of your outfits are amazing, you're very talented!

Thanks! That means a lot coming from you! On that top I just used Carla's stripwork jumper and did a big panel in front, a big panel in back, and 2 ruffle panels on the sides--oh and I added ruffles to the straps.

Did you stretch it out over your ironing board to pin the skirt on? That is how I did Lily's and it was not toooooo hard. I'm gonna make the long waist version with neck ties next too! I just don't have quite enough of one fabric I need for my border strip. If I don't find some at Joanns tomorrow I may be posting a plea for help!

I finally saw Enchanted. The Easter Bunny brought it and DH got it on the Apple TV but I hadn't had enough time to watch it this week. I finally got Delaney to agree to it, she's in love with Giselle but had never seen the movie. It was really cute. I'll watch it again since I can watch it from iTunes.

I just made the halter top with the elastic. It is cute as heck but it barely fits over my daughter's large head! haha...I feel like I'm torturing her when I take it on and off. I'm doing regular straps on the next one!

I knew Erin was thin, but had no idea HOW thin until we measured her for the pattern size. She is like a 3 on top but a 7 in length! Thank goodness my mom knows what she is doing!

I measured my DD (almost 9) today and compared to the Butterick site and she's between and 8 - 10 for waist and height but has the chest & hips of a size 6 and the back legnth of a size 14. I better stick to simple stuff for a while.

Thanks! I was thinking of trying to find a shorter Cars lover. It has actually been at least 10 years since I've made clothes. I made my kids appliqued stockings 4 years ago. All my kids were quite interested in my "new" machine.

I'd say it depends on what you are making. Skirts and some things you may be able to get away with a 3--just don't stitch up your elastic casing until you try them on her again in August so you can adjust it then. I think she may be okay in a size 2 though if she can wear a 1 right now. Tops should work fine in a 3 too. I'm starting to wonder what size to make Lily for our Disneyland trip in October. She'll probably still fit in some of the stuff I made for last October.

Adi12982- LOVE the peasant underdress!!! What size are those? Can we see a pic with a model?

I did them in a size 1/2 . . . the model is a baby from church (DH and I don't have babies YET, our plan is to start trying at the end of this year. . . we want to get my 5 year free and clear from cancer, and get moved back to FL, etc etc). Anyhow, she is still too tiny for the things I made her, hopefully her mom will take a picture of her wearing them, she is a cutie. I made a couple other dresses for babies at church too. I love this thread and it got me inspired. . .plus I can practice for my future kiddies, however God brings them into our life.

The peasant under dresses were amazingly easy!! The second one I made I did in less than 45 minutes (including cutting fabric) even my DH was like, "you just made that? with the fabric you were just cutting? WOW!"

I would make size 2's then add ruffles if you need to before you go. and make sure you do the elastic for the waist a week before you go. always make things ahead of time then always wait to do the waist. Thats what I do

I finally got pics of teh Mickey dot dresses I made. They've been done for a while, but I forgot to get pics.

Today I finished my baby's birthday dress. I can't believe she'll be 2 next month. Now I just need to make it again for a BAB puppy.

And finally a question. I had a somewhat strange, but DisBoutique related dream & it reminded me of these dresses I saw at Epcot in Nov.

Does anyone have any idea where I might find fabric like this? I don't think I've seen anything like this anywhere I've looked recently.

That is so cute!!!! You really did a great job! Sydni is so cute. Lydia loves it too! She is jumping up and down saying that she would wear that to Animal Kingdom and show the Zebras!!! Then she did an imitation of a giraffe walking around our living room, which was pretty funny!

Here is what I have been up to: more boutique dresses. I'm sick of them. I need to do some headbands and more doll dresses, then I'm moving on to something else.
