Oh I forgot: I made a purse! I don't know why my ties seem so droopy though.

That is really pretty!!!!

Here is Arminda in her Build a Bear a-line skirt I made for her. I made the pattern up myself, using some of the tutorials in the bookmarks.

She was being rather silly, so we've got some goofy faces here!

Edie, Happy Birthday!

Ive been sewing like a mad woman the last couple of days. I finished Delaney's Snoopy Easter twirl top and this morning I finished a Hannah Montana twirl skirt. It was my first twirl skirt, I think I'll alter the math I used from the set of instructions I found last night, it didn't seem to have enough to gather into all the layers, the instructions I used said use 1 1/2 times the length of the layer above, not enough to gather in my opinion so next time I'll do twice the length.

As soon as I can remember where I put the camera I'll take pictures. After I took pictures of the farm outfit I set the camera down around here and well, it's disappeared into the filth that is my apartment.

I think we're going to run out for a few minutes. I need to get to Toys R Us so I can pick up a couple of color wonder sets while they are on sale for 1/2 off.

I usually could care less about purses. My SIL (Henry's brother's wife) has a coach purse that she paid WAAAYYYY too much money for and I pick on her mercilessly (it's just a big black bag:confused3 ). I have a $15 Target purse (not even on sale!) that I've been using for a year.

Anyway, I WANT ONE OF THESE PURSES!!!! I love yours and I love every one that has been made! If I had some fusible flannel, I'd try making one right now. Unfortunately, we have a TON of snow outside and the roads are incredibly slippery. So, I am stuck at home, just left to covet the purses of others.

Look at that beautiful girl (even making a silly face)! I absolutely love that skirt. It looks very Euro! It's even cuter in person, just adorable!

I just wanted to ask everyone who is the praying type to pray for our SIL, Barbara. Please pray that the doctors are knowledgeable and can plan the best course of action for her. I pray that they are right so far and that this is a small ductal carcinoma that is easily taken care of with a lumpectomy and radiation. Also, they are really short on money. My brother only makes $8/hour and SIL isn't able to work. They are not sure who is going to be paying for her medical care. She and my brother may not be able to go to Disney with us now. :sad2:

Teresa and Heather- Your DSIL in definitely in my prayers. I did a little looking up (as I KNOW you did) and everything I read said that the outlook for this diagnosis was very good. Like 99% great outcome. I know cancer is a scary word, but I also know that when you catch it early, your success rate is fantastic. Wondering how I know??? I am a cancer survivor. 13 years ago I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer- it was caught early, and I have had no reoccurance since!! SO- HAVE HOPE and FAITH my friend- things can be ok.

Now.... there's just one other thing I want to tell you ......

Oh no, it's starting to SNOW!!!!!:sad2:

BE AFRAID....... BE VERY AFRAID!!! We've already gotten 6 inches of this stuff- and it's really, really scary seeing it come back. Yesterday all the old snow had finally melted, and today, you wouldn't even know it- can't see the road anymore! WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I've been in the house all day getting the final organizing of my craft room done- it looks pretty good I think. Wanna see????

Heather Sue----------

HAVE YOU NO FABRIC STASH????????

Some very sweet person on here (I think it was jham, but I'm awful with names) gave me a run down on the directions & I ran from there. Basically, the skirt is 2 half circle skirts & 1 quarter circle sewn together (there are several patterns & instructions for circle skirts in Teresa's bookmarks). You finish 2 of the straight sides instead of joining them all together. Then you make the waist band really wide (I think mine was like 3 or 4 in wide when it was finished) & reall long (I used 2 45" lengths). I wrapped it around dd & marked where the end wrapped to on the waist band & made a button hole almost the same width as the waist band.

I'm sure that's as clear as mud ;) If you have questions I can try to answer them.
I think I know what you are saying. I think that once I finish what I have cut out I will try one of these.

There was no snow at 10:00 AM, and not at 1:30 there is a TON of snow out there! YUCK!!! We were suppose to go to my Mom's tonight, but now it looks like we will just be sitting at home. :(

Wow!!! You are really generous and TALENTED!!!!

:rotfl:

The skirt came out great!!! The hat too! What pattern did you use? (for the hat that is)

That actually makes perfect sense! I'm going to bookmark that!

I can't wait to see it! Arminda told me the other day that she doesn't want any skirt that are "too poofy" so, I think this might be a nice compromise!
NO NO NO snow. I'm sorry you guys have to go through more snow.

I don't usually carry a purse. I tend to forget them. But I think that I am going to make one of these for myself and DD too.

I was really doing some sewing last night. Here is a HSM shirt that I CASEd from Stephres (thanks for the idea and for letting me CASE you)

$15 for a PURSE!!! Are you KIDDING ME!!! Wow! What extravagence, here I thought I knew you. To find this sort of thing out about someone after knowing them all their life.....well, it's going to take some getting use to!
:rotfl:

Sorry, I know that probably wasn't funny to anyone but me!!!

I usually pay $5 tops for a purse, but my last two were from a garage sale for .50!

Heather's purse is very pretty, I covet it!!

You should make one of these purses for Shawna!! Tell her it is a high end boutique purse.

Aww, thanks Heather!!

I'm missing you today!!! Stupid snow! Hug my little neice and nephew for me!! Go ahead and hug yourself too!!!

Great job Crystal!!! I love those Redondo skirts!! They always turn out so nice!!! The tops are great too! You've been busy!

And, I STILL owe you some Minnie Dot!!! Someone needs to come over and put a post-it note on my forhead so I don't keep forgetting!

Thank you Karen! Our SIL is just the sweetest person! She is almost childlike in her innocence, so that makes it even harder to see her going through this! Barbara's stupid idiot cousin called my brother the other day, and yelled at him about Barbara getting cancer!!! Said it was HIS fault because Barbara took birth control pills. I could SLAP her! Then, she called up Barbara the next day and told her the same thing! REALLY suportive!

And, yes! I want to see your organized craft room!

I used the Wild Things pattern maker from your bookmarks. It's a little wierd. The directions in the program & one the pattern pieces contradict themselves a little. I made one that I never could get to work right (the top was waay too tall & poofy & the band was really tight. For this one, I cut 2 extra pieces for the top (I gathered the top into tha band.)& added a inch or so to the band. That made the band too big, but I shirred a little in the back & it fits pretty well now.

Cool! I'm getting bookmarked! :cool1:

I personally love purses! I could never have enough! I am hoping to save up and next year get a fabulous Prada Purse. I lllloooovvveee my purses. I think you would just love a coach purse if you got one!!!!!

I haven't tried that one yet, thanks for the tips!

We finally closed on our new home today! It has been almost 18 months since we signed the contract to build a new house and it is finally done.

OOH!!! Look at that bathroom!!!! Very nice!! You must be pretty excited!!!

Ok, So being too cheap to actually buy the circly wrap skirt pattern from YCMT, I made it up as I went (thanks for the help, btw). And I had to try the hat too. I don't like my pattern for it as much, but I finally got it to work for me.

I asked if she wanted to pose & she said "No, I'll just smile." So we got 2 sorta goofy smiles. :confused3

That turned out so cute! Now I need to get working on one for DD10! I have that cherry fabric to make Lily an a-line top.
