I took 2 weeks vacation in July then went to work for 3 days and then had sugery-not that I planned it that way but I was out of work for 2 weeks post op. So if I have my left foot done I'll need another 2 weeks at home so if I do that in late November/early Dec I don't know that I can take vacation in January. I do get 6 weeks vacation but I am still feeling guilty about taking vacation just before my surgery this time so I don't think I could take a trip right after surgery next time.

I also missed a lot of time last winter. I went to Disney in Dec and came home sick and lost my brother the week I came home in a car accident.:sad1: Finally went to the doctor in Jan. I had whooping cough. Then took my youngest to WDW for her 7th bday in late January.

My boss has been very understanding but I don't want to push my luck.

Wow! You have had some year!:grouphug: Maybe next time.

It has been quite a year. For our July family trip my kids had to wear costumes from prior trips as I just wasn't up for making anything new.;) The last thing I made was PJ's for my DS for our May trip. I'm hoping to make a few Christmas gifts and thank gifts for my coworkers who drove me to work when I couldn't drive. I just haven't been up for ironing.

My foot has been very swollen the past few days so I'm not yet convinced surgery in November is a good idea. I will keep those late January in mind if I find I need a Disney escape instead of more surgery. I'll just be 6 weeks out tomorrow so I really can't give up hope yet.

Did your niece get the postcard I sent her in May? I can't remember which character I sent. You all must be getting very excited for that trip!!!

I will be praying for complete healing for you. I know what it is like to have to depend on others. I have to do that a lot now!

Kalyn did get the postcard. It has a place of honor on her fridge! She was so excited! I made her an autograph book for the characters that we will see during breakfasts and dinners. Now we have added my brother and his future family to the trip. There will be 13 of us. I am not sure how that is going to work....we have 6 rooms at POFQ all together! I'm hoping it won't be too chaotic! I may need the trip in January to recover from that trip!!!:lmao:

:hug:Thank you. I'm not used to depending on others. Not being able to drive for 5 weeks was tough for me-especially when I felt good other than the pin in my foot.

Have you stayed at POFQ before? I've been twice. It is nice. I like how quiet and compact it is. Lots of pretty fountains and love the whimsical statues at the pool. Also like that the food court isn't as crazy as most resorts.

I'm sure the party of 13 will present a few challenges but how wonderful to all be together at Disney! I'm sure you'll have lots of great memories! And you'll be able to just enjoy the time with your family knowing you'll be back relatively soon to do what you want to do.

I once took a trip with friends for my birthday in early May (stayed a POFQ) and then took my oldest to celebrate her 7th birthday on May 22nd (stayed at Pop). My coworkers all thought I had gone crazy to go to WDW twice in one month but it was great-an adult trip to do stuff I wanted and then a magical trip devoted to DD.

I've stayed at POFQ once a couple of years ago. It was a solo trip to take pictures for a scrapbook for my class. I took Ann Estelle (a Mary Engelbreit doll featured in her children's books.) I posed her around the resort and took her to the parks and photographed her with characters. Then I wrote a book about her adventures and used to photos to illustrate it. I had made her "customs" to wear each day (Minnie, Tink, Princess, Alice, etc.) It was a great tool to use at the beginning of the school year when so many of my students didn't speak English yet. They all knew the characters and loved looking at it and talking about it.

How fun! I'm sure your students loved it too!

Just made reservations for 1/29 - 2/5 with DH. We will be staying at Villas at Wilderness Lodge. Would love to meet up!

Am adding you now. When we get a little closer, we will start making plans. Last time, we met at Epcot in China and took the boat to the boardwalk. We all had dinner at ESPN. They were very accommodating and it worked out well.

Maybe we can do something similiar.

I'll be there!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
My dates are January 29- February 5. I'll be staying at POP!

Heather, you're added!

It looks like January 30th or 31st would be the best days for a meet--with the most people available. If we do something at ESPN, then the Florida people woldn't need a park ticket and we wouldn't need a reservation as it is first come, first seated. Since it is a "slow" time, the did a good job accommodating us last time.

I am not sure if we will join everyone for dinner. We are doing the dining plan, so we will stick to counter services...but we can still hang out before or after dinner, or another night!

As for customs...what to make for January/February? I have some thought on what character outfits to make, but no idea if we will need short/long sleeves, jackets, coats! Any ideas?

I'll probably eat where the dining plan is accepted, too. But, I will definitely want to meet up before or after dinner!

Here's what we wore in 2009 in late January/early February:

Yes, these were all in the same trip! So, will you need short/long sleeves, jackets, coats? YES! All of the above. Don't forget your mittens and hats, too! Seriously.

Thank goodness the cold left before we arrived! But Heather is so right! It is hit or miss and you won't know until you get there and it can change quickly! I think we wore jeans everyday or most days, but had short sleeves on and could have done shorts.

You'll can just hang with us at ESPN. That way you can wander from table to table and talk with everyone. I remember my meal being very good! I was so surprised!

Maybe with so many people being at Pop, we can just meet at the food court there??? Or maybe at Sunshine Seasons at Epcot??? Both places have lots of tables we could sit at (of course Sunshine Seasons is sometimes a little difficult -- but hopefully wouldn't be too busy at that time of the year)

Or even meet at the pool at Pop--the kids could swim and we could talk. There is time to decide!

Also, I can't remember who designed the T shirts last time, but it was cool to have everyone match--easier to find each other. Would you like to do that again? I can take a stab at designing something....I was dabbling in it for our big Christmas trip before it grew so large and some of the "new" group said they wouldn't wear matching things!!! Maybe something with Cindy's mice??

Whoops, buzzer went off on my dryer--check back later!

I know this is small, but really is about 6x6 inches. Will something like this do? I can easily change the name for each of us. Also, do you think the name needs to be black? Also, what color T-shirt should we choose?
