I've had this problem for 3 days.
Whenever I log on to the Disboards, my computer gets slow...so slow it might as well be frozen. The only thing that helps is restarting the computer.
I have been going to other sites just to make sure it doesn't happen there and it only happens when I get on the Disboards!

I don't understand how or why this would happen but I hope it stops! :(

Anyone else having any problems?

I'm so glad to hear that you are having the problem too, Airhead!

Not glad you are having the problem...you know what I mean. ;)

I wonder what's up.

Thanks for responding.

I have not had any of these troubles - thank goodness!

I have mentioned this on the Host Board. But I am sure that the tech people will want to know what operating system you have and what browser you are using (kind and version.)

I am having that problem, and I also keep getting unlogged. I thought we fixed the unlogged problem, but it started again today.:(

Hmmmm I don't really know what that means! ;)

I get logged off too.

montessori,

That means that in order for the tech people to try to pin point the problem, they will want to know what you have operating your computer - Windows 9x, ME, XP, etc or MAC. And they will want to know what browser you are using - Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL? and which version.

I am using Windows 95 and use Netscape 4.7.

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was my computer. I use windows 95 and have aol.

danacara has told me that she has had no success in logging in here for several days. It slows down her computer, and then just freezes up. She can't even get here.

thanks Beth,
I am using Windows ME (Haven't liked it since day one) and AOL 8.0. Not so crazy about AOL either!
Thanks for your help!

oh my gosh! Its too bad this is happening to lots of people but Im kinda glad. I was ready to throw my computer out the window and bury it in the snow!
I have AOL 8.0 and Im using Windows 95

It looks like most of you are using aol. The VBulletin software that runs our boards has know compatibility problems with aol.

After you log onto the internet with aol, minimize the aol browser. Then visit the DIS using the Internet Explorer browser.

I agree, it sounds like it's another AOL incompatability.

I use Win95 and Internet Explorer and I get logged off all the time too. I got rid of AOL - YUK!

I know I sound really dumb but I don't understand how to do that.

I highly doubt the logouts are related to the lockups.

I don't have AOL but I have been playing slow DIS boards on and off for a year or more. Mine usually seems to be during the times when there are a lot of people on the boards. Usually I just log off wait a while and then come back again. I have dial up and thought that probably contibuted to the problem too! :)

Hi again montessori! ;)

Here is what you need to do: sign onto AOL as you usually do. When you get your Opening screen (window) for AOL then click on the little _ tab in the upper right corner of the window. That will "minimize" that screen. Then you should be on your desktop. If you have a copy of Internet Explorer (or Netscape) click on that icon to open that program. There you will need to type www.disboards.com in the location box to get to the DIS. Then you will be using IE or Netscape to browse the DIS.
If you don't have either of these programs you can download them from their respective websites: www.microsoft.com or www.netscape.com . You will have to look for the IE download on the Microsoft site.

I hope that this helps some...

I have dial-up AND and old computer (233 Mgz) and the same problem that you talk about Boots. :( I don't think that this is the same problem that the others are referring to.
