disbility help

I have try doc Martin boots and they make no difference
then, you would probably need more than Piedro boots and should be evaluated for AFOs or foot orthosis.
Unmodified Piedro boots (at least from what I know) would be very similar to Dr. Martens boots. In order to meet more specific needs, they would have to be fitted and modified to the user. And, a lot of the modifications that are made to the shoes/boots are made to accommodate AFOs or foot orthosis, not just to the shoes.

They are designed for each person to give support how and where you need it.

I agree with SueM an AFO might be what you need, can you ask your doctor if something like that might help you? My doctor recommended an AFO for me so he sent me to a specialist that makes customized orthotics and braces, he took a casting of my foot/ankle/leg and then custom made the AFO (with or without joints, depending on what your doctors think you need). I am able to wear the brace in new balance athletic shoes and even some of my fashion shoes, but the person fitting you for a brace can help you find the right shoe for the type of brace you may need. I honestly don't think buying a corrective shoe without really knowing if it's right for you is helpful, what if you get those boots and they still don't work for you? I mean go for it if you want or if you've used them before and know they are helpful, but I think speaking to your doctor about what type of footwear would help with your issues seems like it would be helpful.

Adam, I agree with Sue and BabyFu18.

Prescription boots or shoes (like the Piedro Boots) *must* be prescribed by a doctor, and fitted by a specialist.

This is why you are having difficulty getting them at home. You do not have a prescription for these boots, and so it is highly unlikely that you will be able to buy them while in the US either.

You need to go see your doctor, and talk him/her about your concerns regarding your ankles. Explain why you think the Piedro boots would be helpful. Only a licensed, trained physician can really determine what is right for you, and your feet/ankles.

Regardless of what your doctor recommends, please remember that it is very ill-advised to come to WDW with brand new shoes and/or orthotics (either inserts or braces. There is so much walking at WDW that you do not want to try and break in footwear. The result can be extraordinary pain, swelling, and blisters, and no one wants that at Disney World!

Please go see your doctor, and let us know what the doctor decides is best for you.

I am going to blunt. I think you will need someone to come with you. I really do think that. I am trying to be realistic. I would get somebody to phone the Walt Disney World to explain your needs and to explain what you need help with. If you have traveled around the usa before then great go ahead without a carer. But everyone wants you to have fun. I would personally dread if you do not get the support you need / want on this trip. And did not have a good time.

Adam do you live by yourself?

What do you think phoning WDW is going to do? They don't issue DAS over the phone, don't guarantee it over the phone, don't offer caregiving, or anything else for physical disabilities besides ADA compliant guestrooms, restrooms and transportation. I guess if someone has a question about a specific issue about accommodations, then yes, call (but be aware that you may be talking to someone who has never been to WDW and may give you incorrect info) but the onus of care is on the guest.

i only need a prescription for the pierdo Stability Boots boots in the uk in the usa no prescription is need i have talked to the company that sell them in usa and Canada

also do pierdo Stability Boots boots hurt at first as there so stiff

I've seen there is a place in Canada that sells them, but I have not seen any indication that they are sold in the US.
Even if you could find somewhere that sells them, they would still need to be adapted to your needs. You might not need a prescription to buy them, but very well might to get them adapted.

They would be very hot and because they are very stiff, there is a very good chance of pain, blisters or skin breakdown. That would be especially true if they are not fitted exactly for the person.
Even they are, there would be a 'breaking in' period, so wearing them for a trip with a lot of walking soon after getting them would likely be a very bad idea.

i can feel the extra support in piedro Rehabilitation boots but were there there are to low on the ankle line to give me the full support that i need also i feeling even more support is need then Rehabilitation stiffens so i am now going to get the high stability boots
will there be to ok in the hot heat etc in florida

i am off to disney in 8 weeks and have put bed rails on booking for medical use how soon would the be in room after i have checked in or will they be already there

If the bedrails are not in your room when you arrive, you should contact Mousekeeping. There is a button on the phone in the room.

I also want to remind you again that the bedrails provided by WDW resorts are intended for children and as mentioned previously, there may be a weight limit. If you simply need to know the rails are there and that provides comfort to you, it should be fine; if you move in your sleep and end up pushing against the bedrail, I honestly would not trust them to be strong enough to keep an adult from falling out of bed. Bed rails for adults can be rented from a place like Care Medical; I personally would feel more confident with those than the child version.

Enjoy your vacation!

Adam, have you ever been to Disney World before?

i have been before 2 year ago but i did not need the the bed rails then it have only need them in the last 12 to 18 moths

Since you have been before, I know you are familiar with the amount of walking involved. If you are thinking that it may be too much this time around, renting an ECV would be a great idea. You can take them on the buses, and they are common to see at Disney, so it would not be out of place.

You picked a great time of year to go, as far as the crowds go. They will be light. The weather will still be quite hot and humid though, so boots may not be the most comfortable choice. You can rent an ECV daily at the park, or you can rent one from outside businesses and have it delivered to your resort.

Here is a picture of what I am talking about:

Also, waterproof sheets are available at all the resorts upon request. You should call Disney and have them note it on your reservation. :sunny:

I think it is amazing and awesome that you don't let your disability limit your life. You are a very brave man. I admire you.

if i do need to use dappers in the day time when in the parks is there a place where i can change them like change table for adult in the parks and water parks
