As I had posted a little earlier we had a nightmare flight coming and going, but our trip to WDW luckly was magicial. In spite of the crowds we had some wonderful magicial memories. My daughters' had all sorts of special interaction with quite a few characters. We saw Illumnations which was breath taking, and Spectro magic, Wishes, Fantasmic, and so much more. Thought we would miss out on a lot, but didn't. We just took our time and took breaks when needed and saw and did just about everything we wanted to do. One day we ate at Rose and Crown and I highly recommend that place!Hoop Dee Doo is also a must!! We all enjoyed the show and the food was real good too. Chef Mickey was a big hit on Easter Sunday. Talk with Crush was so funny and shouldn't be missed. I could go on and on, but I won't now. I will share more as we go along.

We had a layover at Washington Regan airport from Chicago O'hara. While we were going through security a young woman in security was in an obviously horrible mood and decided to try to pick an argument or fight. She was barking at everyone and when she got to me she barked, take your shoes off NOW cause I'm gonna make you do it anyways. This was just before I went though the scanner. I just took my shoes off and proceded on. My oldest daughter had a buckle that was sewn into her jeans which had set off the alarm in Chicago. She told the girl before she went through. As we all knew it would the alarm went off. The girl barked at my daughter to move over to side. My daughter did as she was told. Next thing we know the girl is screaming, "Supervisor! Supervisor!" That girl shoved me!" Within seconds two people swooped down on my daughter. The grabbed her and pulled her over away from everyone else. The terrified her. They took her ticket leading her to believe she wouldn't be able to go on to Florida. Of course they pat her down, used that scanning wand on her and asked her tons of questions. Meanwhile I kept saying she never came near that girl this is wrong. One of them barked at me to get lost or they would frisk me too. Several other passengers witnessed it and were making comments and telling them that my daughter never came near the girl. They were told to move on and mind their own business. One of them made matters worse though and I thought for sure we would never make it through. She yelled out you are only doing this because that girl is white and the security girl and you two are black. I cringed, and hoped for the best. Meanwhile my poor daughter is in tears and terrified by now. I was getting so angry that I was afraid to say anything to make matters worse off than it already was. Finally eventually they let us all go. After waiting for an hour and 1/2 we got on a plane for a 2 hour flight with a screaming crying baby right behind us. I sure hope with all my heart that the woman was wrong. I figured the black girl was resentful that she had to work Easter weekend. Afterall it was Good Friday. I don't know why she did what she did, but all I know it wasn't necessary. I guess the lesson is to make sure you NEVER have a flight that has any layovers in Washington DC. :earseek:

That is just horrible. It made me cringe. I cant imagine watching yuor own daughter in tears. Thanks for sharing that with me I really apreciate it.

That is absolutely horrible!! I am shocked they would treat anyone, let alone a child this way. Was there not a supervisor anywhere? I think I would have been screaming for one and if they threatened me with I'll frisk you too, I'd say go for it. I am all for extra security in the airports, but this is ridiculous and inexusable. You might still be able to write a letter to the security dept at that airport. The supervisors definitely need to be aware of this. I am so sorry for your daughters experience and I am so glad the trip at Disney was magical and hopefully made up for the airport mess.

********Edited to add:
Sorry I just re-read your story. I see that the security girl called for supervisor. Maybe there was someone else there above them? I am just shocked by the whole thing as I am sure you were. I say I would be hollering for someone else, but sometimes when shocked I become speechless, so who knows. Once again I am just so sorry for what happened.

Wow, I was going to fly out of chicago too and saw I kept getting a layover in DC. I took DIS'ers advice (Dan Murphy) and fly out of Milwaukee on Midwest. Sign-up on their e-mail and they send specials out all the time. It will always be a direct flight from Milwaukee to Orlando.

Thanks for that advice. The short trip to Milwaukee will be well worth it if I can avoid anymore problems like the one we experienced. For the record my oldest daughter isn't a child. She is 24 years old. I have a 24 year old and a 10 year old daughter. If it had been my 10 year old no doubt I would of totally lost it, cause she would of really panic-ed. (spelling, sorry)
Oh and I did write to complain and was told that if there is anymore similiar complaints like mine they will investigate it. Can you believe this? It took a lot of talking on my part to smooth it all out so the whole trip wasn't ruined. I am so thankful for the Disney magic! If I told you what happend once we arrived in Florida you would all bust into laughter after all we went through. Like I said then we had 2 hours of a poor baby crying. Exhausted we caught our shuttle which had two other stops besides ours to drop off. The first stop was at the Contemporary, and the second Poly, then us. The shuttle broke down in front of the Contemp for over an hour. We arrived at our resort at 2:30 in the morning. We had been traveling for 12 hours. Like the old saying goes, "If we didn't have bad luck we would have no luck at all!" LOL But the trip more than made up for all of that. :cool1:

I swear they know they have you by the butt!! If you had time and your witts about you(who would in that situation :sad2: ) you could have demanded for a video replay and then that would have been your proof of harrassment. I am sure there are MANY video cameras runing.

I would send an email anywat to ...who is it..FFA???

Sorry it happen!

Well I am certainly glad to hear it wasn't a little one that got treated this way! Still doesn't make it ok that it happened. Am I shocked that they have to wait for more complaints before they do anything about it, sadly no. What a sad world we often encounter.

As far as the no luck goes I have to share a bit - not about luck - but it is about how my husband and I start every vacation. It seems that no matter how hard we try to avoid it we start every vacation with a fight. It's like we just have to get it out of our system so that the vacation will go well. We usually drive on our vacations so the first 2-3 hours are often spent silent, except for our boys driving each other crazy in the backseat. But after we stop and eat lunch, all is good. We are over it. We then get on with our wonderful vacation. So... you got all the bad luck out of the way so you could start you wonderful pixie dust filled vacation. Life is good. :goodvibes

At least one good thing came out of all this mess. I just received an email from U.S. Air telling me that for all my trouble they are sending me a voucher for each member in my family. Not sure what the voucher amount will be but we'll see. Wasn't planning on going back to Disney World next Spring break because I figured we couldn't afford it so soon, but now :rotfl:
WE'LL SEE........  Good reason to start saving for the trip if we are getting a break on the airfare. Now just have to convince my hubby. If I can't no doubt the girls can. :love1: especially our youngest one she has daddy rapped around her pinky. LOL
