Disappointed

Anna, also keep your eye open for deals next year, with the economy as bad as it is, there will be deals...we always book 'off season'..our same cabin can be 2x as much for a summer sailing! We've sailed 2x and always booked kids sail free offers...one was on a spring break week...that worked great! Just keep your eyes/ears open!

IMHALL, I just realized that you and I are booked on the same cruise! Sept 8 2012. I am so excited that I found someone booked on the same sailing! Not only is this our first Disney Cruise, but our first cruise ever and I'm feeling overwhelmed to say the least. So much to learn...Anyway looking forward to keeping up for the next year!! Beyond excited.

In case the two of you are interested, this is the link to the cruise meet for your Sept 8, 2012 cruise.

It's fun to get to know others from the DIS on your cruise ahead of time. You will be sailing 2 weeks after our cruise.

Was excited about the new ship until I saw the prices. Who can afford it? Are they crazy?

As other said, book early, the 1st day of release if possible. We booked 2 dummy dates onboard (offers discount + onboard credits that can be combined with credits by a TA). As soon as the Dream was released, our TA switched our dummy dates to our Nov b2b. For 4 of us in a cat 8D it's only $1850 for the 4nt, $1600 for the 3 nt.
There are affordable cruises if you book early and during the school year. Luckily, our kids get 3 days off that week in Nov so they're not missing a lot. I originally had my eye on the Aug 16 5 nt double dip but it was almost $5k. Yikes!

Also to the pp who mentioned the kids sail free promotions, you won't see them on the new ships. They're selling too well. You may see them for Magic or Wonder sailings though.

Just as previous posters have already wrote, I have always booked our cruises over a year out. I have never seen the prices go below what we booked at. A cruise we have booked for next August while on the Wonder PC cruise (Jan. 2011) is now well over $1000.00 more than what we booked at.

I was looking too at next year b/c we had to cancel this year's Halloween trip (that I had a great price on!) due to DH's job. We are doing a week in WDW over Halloween instead this year. Well for next year I was going anywhere btwn $6K and $12K:scared1: for various dates! That is insane. I love Disney, but I'd NEVER spend $12K on a Disney vacation....or any vacation for that matter.
I am holding out for the release of 2013 dates...

I did just see good deals on non-refundable verandah rooms at $999/pp for 10/22 and 10/29 7 nt sailings this year on the Magic.

Yes, this is some new deal that Disney started with last minute savings. I guess it's their way of filling up the ships. If you can plan short-term, I've seen some great prices for these deals. :thumbsup2

People have been booking the available cruises for quite some time, which has driven the prices up exponentially. I recommend waiting until the 2013 rates drop, and checking again.

I agree with waiting for the 2013 and booking when the availability first opens up. When we booked our 2012, we did it as soon as it came out. Pricing the same cruise today, it has gone up $4,500, which we wouldn't be able to afford to do, so I am glad we booked when we did.

I admit......I am a blockhead when it comes to understanding the pricing of Disney. We have been cruising since 2000 and have done nine Disney cruises, and with each one I book the rise in pricing STILL shocks me. Having sailed and priced out many other cruise lines, Disney is the only one I have found whose pricing rises at such a drastic rate. With the volume they get, I just don't see the need to allow this on their part.

Sorry, but it just seems like they are gouging their loyal passengers  Of course, when you can get early pricing, you can certainly find a reasonable deal and not feel "gouged". And at this point that is the only way we can afford this anymore. But I just don't understand the reasoning behind allowing prices to rise BY THE HOUR (sometimes by the minute).

I just looked at my HAL reservation for Alaska next year. We booked it in April and the pricing for my exact cruise has not risen one cent in 4 months! And yet that cruise is more than 75% sold out. Go figure :confused3

Okay, sorry, off my soapbox :rolleyes1:goodvibes

It's the law of supply and demand. Disney raises the prices because they can. People have shown that they will pay the asking price. Those people may not be the loyal customers, but the ships will be filled anyway.

I booked the first Canada sailing next June on the date that it was first available this spring. As of today, the price has gone up almost $900--and that's for an inside Cat. 11C. In December of 2007, I took a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise on Magic in the same Category (three doors down the hall) for $899!
