Disappointed!

Is this to far out there...but whatever happen to just going to the restaurant and waiting the 15 or 30 mins or more before being seated. Is everyone on here that into adr's?We have yet to do a adr and have eaten at all the big places and at prime times(sometimes being seated as quick as 5 mins after being told minimum wait 45-60 mins.)My wife and I laugh all the time about people(have family that does) who do the 180 day adr just to cancel them prematurely or don't even show up.On xmas eve at 5:50 pm we showed up at the BC concierge desk and asked for the dinner ressie's for 4.The gentleman looked at us like we were crazy. His response is its xmas eve and no one has availbility.I said in return that this is Disney and its impossible that no place has an opening.Well we got ressies for the Blue Moon for a 7:00pm seating. Not bad for a place that even on this site people have said its a very good place with a romantic feel to it.We had a great time and wife still says best xmas eve dinner ever.
OP I say go to 1900 park fare and wait the time you might be pleasantly surprised.
BTW..yes we have the two little ones in tow with us each and everytime. They wait patiently because thats how we taught them.......not to be animals.:rotfl:

:teacher: If you really really want to eat at a certain place, then yes, you need to make ADRs. If you are okay with doing it the way you do, then no, you don't need to make ADRs.

We went last May for a week, didn't make any ADRs, and got to eat at California Grill, BOMA and a couple other places. I just called in the morning of the day we wanted to eat and asked what was available. It worked well for that trip, but I normally like to have a plan so I make ADRs and if necessary, will make changes as the week goes on. Plus, I like to know that if there is a must do (like Chef Mickey's), I have it booked and I don't have to worry about it not being available at all. :scared: Would rather have it, not need it and cancel at the last minute, than have a meltdown from DD that she didn't get to do the breakfast/dinner that mattered most to her.

I'm sorry, I know this is OT, but it's exactly this type of attitude that has me up every night for a year ahead of time planning our trip. Not all kids that have trouble waiting are "animals". DS has PDD-NOS and waiting is not one of his greatest talents. I would love to believe that this is due to poor parenting and not a disorder that he works so hard to deal with on a daily basis.

Don't be so quick to judge the child who seems to be on the brink of a meltdown, maybe you can't comprehend how difficult this is for him. Maybe the fact that he's not running around screaming like a banchee throwing his shoes through the windows has his parents beaming with pride. :confused3

And yes, I am not only pre-planning every restaurant meal, I'll come prepared with a pack of things to help him wait and make every effort to keep him from disrupting anyone.

Ok, off my autism awareness soapbox and back to the regularly scheduled posts.

sorry, if I offended anyone that wasn't my intent.

Thanks,
Heather

I called to cancel a reservation and they had reserved two names under the same confirmation number???? She couldn't figure out how that happened. I thought that was interesting. I hope that does not happen again.:confused3

This also happened to me last year. When I called to confirm my ADR's they confirmed a table for 5.....my family and another party of 2. I told them of the error and they then changed it to a party of 3.....the other pary had the same number as I did. The CM said that they would not be able to take them out of the system because it would cancel both our ADR and theirs.........they put us as a party of 3 and party of 2 with seperate seating, strange!!:confused3

That being said, I would continue to call and check for openings.....that is what I am doing for an ADR at 1900 Park Fare for my upcoming trip! If that doesn't work, you could always show up with the confirmation number and try to get seated! But, be prepared for them to turn you away just in case...............last year during Thanksgiving week I witnessed two different occasions where a group had a confirmation number but the ADR was not in the system and they were turned away because there was no availability for walk-ups....(at Sci-Fi and at Coral Reef).

Hope it all works out for you!!

WELL SAID.............I too am sick of people jumping to conclusions about other people's situations or parenting abilities (or lach thereof). Just give it time........even the best behaved child, or the child that was "taught to behave" can still have outbursts!!!!;)

Ditto- My kids are older now, but kids are just kids!

I take it to the restaurant and it is their problem if they cannot find my reservation. And it has happened to me a few times -- twice at 1900.

I first give them my name and time and if they cannot find it I hand them the confirmation number. Usually that is enough for them - one time they looked back and told me some date it was cancelled on and I said "not by me." And I have always been seated.

It is funny that you mentioned that you twice have had a problem with Disney Dining canceling your reservation at 1900 PF. We have only once had a problem with our reservation being canceled(not by us) and it too was at 1900 Park Fare and it was last Thanksgiving Day!:scared1: Luckily, it was for 3 PM, the first dinner reservation so they were able to squeeze us in but we always wondered if maybe some big wig at Disney wanted to eat Thanksgiving Dinner there and so they canceled our reservation.;) It just seems strange that reservations are being canceled at 1900 PF for no reason(and no, we did not double book and I never called and "checked" my reservations).

OP, I would arrive early and give them your confirmation number. When they say it's been canceled, explain that it wasn't by you and the manager can actually look it up and find out who canceled it. At least that's what they did in my case. They seated us with no problems.
