Disappointed

Hi,
I just got back from WDW today and for a few days stayed at Saratoga Springs as it is our DVC home resort.
I was disappointed at something that happened. While at Old Key West, I ordered a cake for my parents anniversary and the duty manager made sure the duty manager at SS for that day knew to send a runner down with the cake to the House of Blues. The cake couldnt be made at the House of Blues as it isnt Disney. When we get there, I ask at the desk to check and guess what, no cake. The person on the desk there was calling around and got through to the kitchen at the Artists Palette at SS. They said there was no cake in the kitchen.
So we saw the Duty manager at SS, told him and he was not happy. Im not sure the cake was made though which made me angry.
Have you ever experienced anything like this while at Disney?
 
If you were staying as SSR, why wouldn’t you arrange directly with that property to have the cake sent to House of Blues? It seems there were too many people/steps involved, and the message got lost somewhere. Did you get names (duty manager at OKW, duty manager at SSR) so you could try to track where things went wrong?
 
We did arrange for SSR to have a runner take it to the House of Blues.
We called the cake hotline and got through to SSR so ordered from the Artist Pallette. I dont know where it went wrong but the duty manager at SSR was good to us.
 
Oh, good!!!!! Now, to answer your question - not that I know of, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Obviously the communication problem was somewhere at SSR, and it's nice to know they took care of the problem for you!

1) Front Desk Runners have a lot of duties at the resort.
2) On many days, their time is totally booked.
3) They just don't reserve their time to deliver things off-resort.
4) For off-resort requests, it is usually "when available" or "time permitting".
 
I understand they are busy but the OKW duty manager said it would be no problem at at SSR there was at least 1 if not 2 runners ready as we were told this by the SSR duty manager.

kaytieedlr, they sorted it in a nice way though. The duty manager at SSR spoke to the Disney Florist and the next day we got some flowers delivered to the room.
