Friends of mine were discussing a trip to Italy. I called DVC to see what there was through RCI, and there is NOTHING for Italy:scared1:

How can that be?? What kind of exchange company is this??
Weird, and ridiculous.

Club Cordial, the other option for exchange has temporarily "shut down" our option of trading into Itlay. The CM told me it's because we have more trading into them for Italy, then they have for us, and there is no way to know if it will "open up" for next year or the future.

I was VERY surprised. I am not interested in the Adventures by Disney trip as this is with my girlfriends and maybe my adult kids (if their schedules permit, and not my DH - he won't fly there). So that leaves me without an option through DVC. Again, I find that ridiculous... Just thought I'd share

Keep in mind that DVC selected only about 500 of the RCI resorts. Only those that they selected can be traded in to. They may have omitted Italian locations because of the Club Cordial relationship.

Sorry about your experience! However, you might want to rethink the Adventures by Disney. Our family, consisting of me, my DH, our 21 year old daughter, and one of her friends, went on Viva Italia ABD in late May. Everyone had a spectacular time. We have never taken a planned tour before. Been to Scotland, England, and Japan twice, always on our own, and were really skeptical about doing this. We have cruised, and run around a fair amount of the United States. Bottom line, our 21 year old said it was the BEST trip of her life! (which was really nice, considering this was her 21st birthday present). Our guides, Marco and Cinzia, were amazing. We saw things we never would have seen otherwise, and had enough free time that we did not feel pressured at all. We wanted some special activities, and instead of just advising us, all our arrangements were made for us by our guide! They took SUCH good care of us. DH and I are already thinking about our next Adventure. Good luck and PM me if you would like more detailed info.

That's exactly why I have a private exchange lined up for Hawaii. This doesn't sound any better than II. That was one reason for the switch right? No one could get any trades with II either.

I'd never personally do an RCI exchange. I think the best value is using the points at DVC resorts or renting them any paying cash elsewhere. I actually have an RCI coupon for a free week from an add-on and I can't seem to ever find any dates anywhere in numerous locations in the country and Canada I'd be willing to go to that are open at the times I could travel.

It seems your expectations of timeshare exchanging do not fit with the realities here. For the BVTC options, they have to keep a good balance to make it workable. RCI can only give you what they have and their system is mostly a wait list system and not a direct reservation system. The good stuff goes quickly, usually to those that are on the WL or are looking at minute one when it comes up. They do not hold options for DVC members, nor should they.
