Disappointed with guest behavior during Spectromagic

We just returned from a 3 day weekend at SSR and I am so disappointed with guest behavior while waiting for Spectromagic to start. Sat night we went to MK to see the parade - DH, DB, DSIL, DN4, DN1. While we were waiting in Frontierland a woman pushed her daughter in front of me. I said to the girl "Could you please not stand directly in front of me, since I can't see and we have been wtg here." Her mother started in that she was only a child (was as tall as me) and screaming at me. Then she shoved the girl back in front of me and pushed past, yelling and screaming. I decided she wasn't worth ruining my night and walked away (didn't know how far she would go and couldn't find security). After I left she began cussing at DB and DSIL with the little girls there.
Why do people assume just because they have children they are the only ones who deserve to see the parade? No problem if the child is shorter than me, but hey - I couldn't see either. I realize I may get flamed for this, but it seems to me that more and more guests have a sense of entitlement that they can do whatever they want, regardless of anyone else around and how their behavior affects others.
Has anyone else witnessed behavior like this?

First welcome to the DIS.
Sadly yes, this behavior has been seen at WDW more often than not. Sorry you had to walk away.

Want to do a WDW Trip report for us?

Yes this happens alot unfortunately and it's my pet peeve  . I hate spendning all that time waiting for the parade with 2 small chlidren just to have last minute people being rude and trying to sit on us. I agree with you it doesn't matter if your adults, you had your parade spot and waited in it. No rude woman should be shoving her DD infront of you then using foul language at a family park. Sounds alot like the rude woamn I encountered at HS last october.

On a positive note, most people we've encountered have been wonderful: friendly, helpful and polite. But, even coming in contact with hundreds of nice people, that one bad apple really can spoil things. We have had people stand in front of my Mom who is in a wheelchair. Now this has happened and when the person realized what they did, they apologized, BUT we've had people just stand there anyway. Now, the poor lady can't see and it's too crowed to move her. I try to give a person the benefit of the doubt and just nicely ask if they can move a little left or right, please.:)

I love to do photography so I try to get a good spot for taking pictures for parades, fireworks, etc. I am often in an ECV. Since I need a good spot, I pick it out early and wait. I once had a man, just as the fireworks started and I was poised with my camera, run up and plunk his little girl down right in front of me. On top of a wall. Then he just stood there holding her so she wouldn't fall with both his big self and the little girl completely obscuring my view. I asked him to move and pointed out I had been waiting there for quite a long time. His answer to me was: "She's just a little girl!"

Er, okay. And I'm just a *big* girl who paid to be in the park and enjoy it and I wasn't aware that being a little girl (or having one) entitled someone to be rude to others and ruin their enjoyment of the park.

He didn't move, btw. I had to move while the fireworks had already started and in the crowds then.

Obviously you haven't experienced Disneyland Paris.:rotfl: One mother encouraged her daughter to repeatedly kick my husband in the back because he refused to let her in front of him during the parade, but we had staked our spot and hour and a half earlier, and we also have 3 children - so we stake our place EARLY.
At the Disney Studios a woman also used my sons head as a tripod for her camera, and when we asked her to get off him, she played the me no understand English card. They also smoke all over the park without a care for anyone else.
I would say that up until about 2 years ago we had never encountered that kind of rudness in WDW, but I fear that this behaviour is becoming more and more common, and this does sadden me a lot.
