I got my DL planning video in the mail yesterday and couldn't wait to rip it open and watch it. We went to WDW in 2002 and I loved the trip planning video for that.

Well, I was quite disappointed. It really didn't spend too much time on anything and the editing is done in such a fashion that most scenes are only on the screen for 2-3 seconds. By the time my girls caught sight of a princess or a ride, it was gone. My little saw SW and I had to rerun it 3 times for her to see enough of it. :(

I was really hoping it would be more.

Could I have gotten the wrong one? This one starts out in black and white with Walt Disney speaking. It only lasts about 8-9 minutes.

I thought there was one that spent more time in the parks.

Thoughts??? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Thanks!!!

Sorry - that is it. It is not really a planning video but more of a long commercial. There is not a planning video for Disneyland.

Well poo! The could do so much more.

My girls loved seeing the rides and the characters but they flash by so quickly....the WDW and the Dcruise videos are so much better.

I was way disappointed with the DL planning video also. It was very short and they did not focus on the hotels or the restaraunts at all. :sad2:

I've always wondered about those videos. Sorry to hear it wasn't more informative. :guilty:

I was so diappointed in it! Especially with it being the 50th Celebration!!

We are going in November and I refused to show it to my mother (at that point we were in the process of convincing her to come with). I pulled out our old one from 2002 to show her (she loved it and is coming with!). The 2002 one was outdated, but detailed and fun. I don't know where my DH ordered it from. The planning videos have ways of just "showing up" in our mailbox!

:confused3 I just posted about this yesterday on one of the other boards...it was ver disapointing to me as well as my kids. They ask to watch the WDW video from this year just to re-live our trip and what we saw there...I was hoping to get more of a "feel" for DisneyLand from the video, but that is not the case with this. Really is too bad...you'd think Disney corporate would want people to visit all their parks not just WDW. :confused3

Personally, I was pretty disappointed with the WDW video -- as detail-oriented as the Disney company is with their parks and products, I was expecting a lot more from the planning video.

I recieved a fantastic planing video. I hate to say that it is the Australian version, and is unavailiable to Americans.

It has an introduction and Shows pretty much every ride in both parks, with an introduction to every land. It show Downtown Disney in Depth aswell. There is also a segment on all the hotels.

It is fantastic

Sorry to disapoint you, but i thought you would want to know that the mystery video does exist, but only In Australia.

Tim

It really is quite amazing that Disney - arguably the best editors in the business - could not put together something better.

This video leaves me, well, not all that excited. When I watched my old WDW one, it went into detail about the lands/rides/hotels......I could NOT wait to go. I watched it every day. It allowed me to plan out my days and also introduced my daughter to the park.

In the words of my opiniated 7 yr old - "This video sucks."

You know, I think the great DL planning video we have from 2002 came from Canada. Somehow my DH figured out how to get one to us.

Sometimes it seems like they really don't want people going to Disneyland. If they did I would think they would do a better job training the CM's (such a high percentage of them don't have correct information), giving hotel discounts, and promoting the park. Disneyland Resort is much more poorly organized than WDW; you would think it would be better considering it is so much smaller.

I too was able to get one from disneyland.ca a few years back.

What is being put out now is not a planning dvd nor have they ever said it was one. (it was us expecting it to be one) But it is a "sneak peak at the Happy Celebration on Earth." So it is 8 minute commercial. It is also the same 8 minutes that is available on the WDW planning DVD.

I personally do not like the new 2005 WDW planning DVD. I much prefer the old format.

We just got our DVD yesterday and my 5yo son and I watched it twice in a row this morning. It was "okay"--yes it's a commercial but at least it's an 8 minute commercial! :rotfl: I agree with the previous posters in that it could be better--you'd think Disney would try to woo a little harder with all at their disposal. I don't like the fast editing either, it does zip by and by the time you figure out what you're looking at, it's on to something else.

I decided to go to Travelchannel.com and enter Disneyland and see if there were any shows on in the future. There are a couple coming up (all times Pacific), if anyone else is interested:

Disneyland Resort behind the scenes, Thursday Oct 6 at noon
Disney's imagineers, Thursday Oct 6 at 1 p.m.
Disney's great escapes (includes both DL and WDW), Friday Oct 14 at 7 a.m.

I'm going to record them on our DVR and that way my son can see some more video of rides etc to get excited with!!

I haven't received my DL video yet, but I don't like the current WDW DVD format. I have my old VHS tape from WDW which I keep in the car. My girls, LOVE watching it!! It keeps the magic from our trip 2 years ago alive.
