We just returned from Disneyland... we were there 13-15th and boy was it busy!!
Back to ART, I called well in advance and asked numerous questions,as my disabled mom was attending the park with us. They assured me that all the buses were ADA compliant and we would not have any problems using their service.
Day 1...lift was broken on the bus, had to wait for another bus. No problem, just wait for the next one. The first bus came back and said he called for another bus to come get us. 4 buses stopped to say their lifts did not work. Once we finally got on a bus a little more than an hour later, they were friendly and helpful to my mom.
Day 2...we're up early for EE...again, a bus with a non working lift. He assured us someone was on their way... even remembered us from the previous day! We waited another 90 minutes and missed our only EE day.
We had the same driver both days in the morning time. On the 2nd day when more than an hour had passed, and after the bus made another 5th trip, he then decided that suddenly his lift is working! It was magical too....NOT! Boy were we angry! My husband asked him why he told us the lift was not working when it obviously is. He straight up lied and said he never said it was broken... that the bus was full. Some busses were full, but not the first bus when we were out there. There was room for us!
He straight up lied and that was unacceptable! We did call the superviser and told him of the incident. He acknowledged they had a lot of non working lifts currently. He then went on to tell me that the driver should not have used the lift, that it was not in proper working condition. REALLY? So now, you have endangered the safety of my disabled mother? Unbelievable! Then he tried to take those words back as well.
My advice to those who have disabilities and need the lift, call them a head of time that morning and ask them to send you the special bus at a specific time. I was also not very happy when they told me I could do that too, as they could have told me that earlier. We had a family rate of $9 a day, and parking at DL was only $10, and every tram has a ramp! It was not a hassle at all. It was well worth to pay for parking at DL our last day, just so we didnt have to deal with ART! I hope noone else has to deal with them in this manner.
