Although my family of 4 had eaten at and very much enjoyed Mythos twice on our March 2006 trip, we were all very disappointed in our meal there earlier this week. It was open from 11:30 till 3:00, while we were there.
We had a chef's special BBQ Pork Flatbread, which was quite good.
I had the Chicken Oscar. The crab cake was tiny, but tasted fair. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The mashed potatoes were fine. The price was $14.95. I had the Misty Isle Mixed Grill (grilled chicken and sausage atop mashed potatoes) at Finnegan's twice this trip. It was only $11.95, and it was fantastic in comparison.
DH had the Cowboy Sandwich for $12.50. He said it was OK. The BBQ overwhelmed the sandwich and was all he could really taste.
DS 12 had the Daily Pasta Specialty. It was a pesto sauce with far too much oil. It was $14.95. It was a large portion, but no one liked it enough to finish it.
DS 10 had the Filet with truffle butter for $15.95. This is a shoulder filet, so he got 3 small pieces of beef. Two pieces were cooked to a perfect medium, but the third was way overcooked, tough, and tasteless. Overall, this dish got great reviews.
For dessert, we shared the $5.25 PB Gooey Cake. The portion was definitely meant to be eaten by one, aleady full patron. From what we tasted, it was good.
The boys had milkshakes, DH had a beer, and I had water. With tax, tip, and a 10% AAA discount, our bill was almost $100.
Finnegan's never exceeded $75, and the food was wonderful. We ate there twice. It is our new favorite at the Universal parks.
