Has anyone been disappointed with their Capture Your Moment session?

We just did ours on 9/21, and I'm admittedly very disappointed in the photos.

We told the photographer that the main thing we wanted was photos of our little one for her second birthday. Instead, he took a ton of group shots. We were overwhelmed and sweating as he ran us around to a bunch of locations, and didn't even realize until we looked at the photos how disappointed we were. He started us on the hub grass, then took us closer to the castle (a show was going on so the pics are terribly crowded), then he took us to the side of the castle near the wishing well and then into the castle for pics by the mural.

However, only about 8 of the pics are of my little one alone, and she's not looking at the camera in any of them. Now I feel like I have to get pictures taken of her at home because none of the ones he took are very good.

Our session sounds exactly like yours, except no show was going on so our castle pics are not crowded at all. I think they have specific shots and locations they take you to unless you very specifically request something else.

If you had mentioned that you'd like more shots of just your daughter before the session was over, I'm sure they would have done it.

We did a session with our son and DIL in May at EPCOT. We had two photographers who were very charming and accommodating, but not good photographers. The pictures were awful. We didn't pursue it. It was an expensive mistake (we did tip generously). Once and done.

As someone who is a photography enthusiast, I can tell that 99% of CMs working as photographers at Disney have no idea how to do that properly. Their cameras are basically on auto mode and they basically take "snapshots". Maybe 10% of their pictures are good, the rest are mediocre to bad.

I do recommend memory maker package if you are staying for several days there and you can get ride photos and some classic pics from iconic spots. However, I would not recommend anything fancier for the reasons I just mentioned.

We did a 40 minute session at Animal Kingdom for our extended family. We liked the location behind the tree even though the background was not recognizably Disney World. Like you, we explained we just wanted a good photo of our group (10 adults and 6 young children). We got lots of great pics of individual kids and smaller groups; unfortunately the photos of the whole group had one end closer to camera than other end and were distorted. SO…what I learned is that one of us should have looked at the group photos before we spent 30 min on other photos, which we didn’t even care about. We were at WDW for 7 days and we never got a good photo of our whole group. If you had a specific photo you want, ask the photographer to look at the photo before moving on to other photos.

I have a birthday shoot at AK that might be the best photos I have of my LO. The weather was helpful, kind of overcast, and my kid was cooperating. MK is a much tougher place to take these photos because it's just masses of people everywhere.

Once they went to a balloon vendor and made my kid stand in front of all the balloons on main street. Seems like they could have done something like that.

If you wanted her alone, you could have spoken up. I mean all the way to the mural is a long walk, that's half of your photography time right there.

Totally agree. We were just very overwhelmed, weaving through people, and sweating that we didn't realize how few photos we had of her. I don't think we'll complain, but definitely food for thought in the future.

That's kinda how I feel. We won't complain because the photographers were nice, but probably wouldn't do it again. We were also told they couldn't accept tips.

Ours gladly accepted the cash and we tipped both separately!

I'm so sorry you had a disappointing experience. We did a 20 minute session in EPCOT and another 20 minute session at Animal Kingdom back in April. The photographers were phenomenal with my children. My youngest is autistic and has ADHD. To say he is A LOT sometimes, is an understatement. But the photographers and their assistants (particularly the ones we had in Animal Kingdom) were amazing. They helped wrangle my little guy and followed his lead with what he was comfortable with. When he needed a break, they took my older kids for some solos. The assistant helped with the kids so my wife and I could get some couple shots. Both photographers let us look at photos on their screen to see if we were happy. As a result, we have the best photos of our kids (especially the youngest) we've ever had. We also have a few great family photos and a few couples shots. It was a splurge to do both photo shoots and we likely won't do them again any time soon (it was a pain to plan around midday sessions), but we were thrilled with the results.

Also, we tried to tip both photographers and they both said they couldn't accept. They asked us to instead leave a cast member compliment on the app, which we gladly did.
