We just returned from the World and were quite disappointed in CJ's. Anyone else have anypositive or negative comments on the restaurant? We both ordered the penne with shrimp which arrived barely warm. Didn't send it back for fear of all the bad things you hear about sending food back. There was only about 5 little shrimp and not that much penne in it. On the ddp, that is your entree unless you order an appetizer which we didn't. There was nothing else to go with the penne dish, no veg, no bread nothing. If it wasn't for dessert, we would have left there hungry. Also the menu seems to have shrunk down to only a few entrees. The price on this entree was like around $17. I know it WDW but geez, give us a break or some more food.

If you perform a search, you'll find many threads on Captain Jack's, and, yeah, it's one of WDW's worst restaurants. You'd think with that location, and its status as the last remaining original restaurant in Downtown Disney, that Disney would take better care of it.

Our server told us they stopped serving bread because it's not "healthy", but she went and found me some really good foccacia leftover from lunch. Dinner was good but not wonderful, and the restaurant was cold.

We had dinner there last month (Nov 16th) and were less then thrilled. It was a combo of so-so food and really slow service. The dinning room was also cold. But we were there during a really cold spell. It's safe to say that we won't be going back there on the next visit.

I haven't eaten there for many years, but I recall when Capt. Jack's was one of the most reviled restaurants on property. Seems it may have become a bit more popular with "Captain Jack Sparrow" from the POTC movies, but this restaurant precedes any "Capt. Jack" in a Disney movie.

I think I saw some fairly good reviews here recently and was surprised because of its long history of being below-par.

Many years ago I enjoyed a couple of Bloody Marys there, but the food was lack-luster at best.:earsboy:

Sotolaf is right--it deserves better from Disney. Capt. Jacks is one of the VERY few restaurants at WDW that we have never visited.

I have been going to WDW since the 70's. I've never been to Capt. Jack's and
now I feel I never will. :sad2:

I have always read here that it is one of the worst. But, had friends just return a couple weeks ago...RAVED about it, said it was the best meal they had had in their lives!!!!!

Then other friends just this week, said it was awful!

We didn't really care for Capt'n Jacks either. We went in Sepetember and didn't think it was that great (compared to some other places on property). I found the service to be quite odd too. Our server was very friendly with us until she found out we were Canadian, then her attitude changed. It is was very wierd and soured our opinion on it.

Capt'n Jacks used to be one of our favorites, but we were very dissappointed last trip with the menu changes and poor service. I'm hoping they do something to revamp Capt'n Jacks. It's such a great location, and used to be yummy.

Wow. Yes, I have heard many bad reviews. We had an ADR for CJ's in July, but cancelled it to go to Earl Of Sandwich. I am glad we did cancel this, because of all the dislikes.

We were there last December and it was HORRIBLE! The service was BAD and the food was WORSE!!! WE'll never eat there again!
