:yay: MJ Mouse!! Great choices, my that McD's salad must be addicting!

:goodvibes Noni, stay the course!! You have a vision, stay focused!!

Tara I dont know what's what with the tickers - your totals are awesome!

Kat is it a hockey night? Or is that tomorrow?

dh is going to go down and bring ds#2 home tomorrow - I have got to clean out his room, I've been using it for storage! :rolleyes1 I must wog tomorrow, today was a day off... I just walked app 1 mile... and then sprayed the yard - darn dandeloins and thistle!

So I went back to using Firefox as a browser instead of IE. My dad's computer geek friend has always warned me about IE..saying it's crap. So sure enough...now that I have F.Fox again my tickers are A-OK!!! :woohoo:

It is beyond addicting!

Dinner is my down fall. Don't like cooking for myself, so I often pick something up on the way home. However there aren't too many places to get take out in the town that I live in (a couple of pizza places, Chinese, and McDonalds is about it). Plus, I work lots of hours and I hate to spend my time in the evening cooking!

Any ideas for easy (read NO prep) dinners would be much appreciated. :)

I love the Homestyle Supper Bakes by Banquet (I think) in a red box...they have about 2 min. of prep time!!

Hi Peeps! Sorry I didn't quote! I hope everyone had a nice day! I am so frustrated! I am showing a two pound gain! I was doing so good and now I feel so off track! I wanted to get to 15 pounds at least by my WDW trip. I know I can do it I am just feeling discouraged.:sad2:

Today my DH and I bought a new riding lawn mower. Our other one was a hand me down from my parents that decided to stop working. My husband is out mowing the lawn with his Ipod on as we speak.:yay:

This week is teacher appreciation week. We have had a lot of food treats (candy in a mug, candy bar, tomorrow big chocolate chip cookies from our local bakery). It is really nice that we get those things but it is hard on the eating plan.

Does anyone watch Dancing with the Stars? I was surprised last night that Joey was in the bottom two. I think I am rooting for Apollo or Ian.

Good evening peeps! Hope we are all having a skinny day. My DSL has been on and off the past 2 days. Such a pain. I never realized how hooked on the internet I am until it was taken from me with no warning. I was starting to get the shakes :scared:

I LOVE what we lovingly refer to as "food in a bag". It is in the freezer section, and made by several companies-stouffers, lean cuisine, bertolli, even hamburger helper has one now. It feeds 2-3 people I think, but we rarely make anything to go with it and we can eat it between the 2 of us easily. Most of them have all the food groups pretty much covered so we dont bother making stuff with it. They take 2 seconds-you literally dump them in a pan and walk away for a bit, return to stir and that is it.:goodvibes

OOH, I watch. I like Ian but I dont think he will win for some reason. Apollo really bugs me though. He did that latin number so well last night but most nights I fast forward through him. I think it is because he is so short. It really takes away from the dancing for me. (and the facial hair but that is my issue....ex-BF had similar, bad relationship, not Appollo's fault :rotfl: ) I think it will come down to Joey and Leila, and I like Joey. (I am a recovering boy-band-aholic)

On another note-what DO teachers want as gifts? I hate to give the same thing as everyone else but I cant seem to come up with much else. Amanda is only in preschool, but I want to give her teachers something for all they do! I want to make them each a cookie bouquet, but wasnt sure if I should give them something with it, or just find a nice container to make it in they can re-use (like a vase or something) Or maybe something else completely? Any ideas?

Nan  16 trees!! That's work!! do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of bull thistle? Truly annoying sticker bushes? I'm going to poison them again - I hit them with weedBgon and it killed the grass, but bull thistle is back!
That was Kat with the yard work!! I abstain if at all possible! :rotfl2:

I am trying to make an itinerary for the trip, but need the others input. I would like it better if I could just do it and that would be that! Oh well!
Can you just plan it like you're in charge and then make adjustments according to any of their wishes?!!

which is a real bummer for me right now! I so want to hit my goal for the trip, and I know it's just a number, but I just don't understand why things are moving so slowly. I would have to lose 4.2 pounds in the next week to make my goal, and at the rate I've been losing, I don't see that happening. Although, AF should be here any time, so maybe if she gets here and goes away before the trip, that will help. I am anxious for that doctor's appointment at the end of the month. I really want to learn if there is something I could be doing differently to move things along a bit faster. I know it won't happen overnight, but I think I should be able to lose a bit more consistently than I have been over the past month or two. I have been averaging a pound a week (or less) lately (not counting the funky scale activity), and I have a total of at least 80 pounds to lose! I would just like to lose it (or at least the majority of it) by the end of the year. I don't know. I shouldn't get too worked up about it. AF very well might have something to do with it, and I could step on the scale Friday morning and be at or near goal. I just have to be patient! And sometimes, I am not very good at that.
You're doing so well! Please don't get down. Even at the rate of a pound a week you're only talking around a year and a half or so. And if it takes that long you'll be getting more and more used to the food and exercise and lifestyle you have to do to stay where you want. It may take time, but it will be so worth it!

So big news for me-I GOT A NEW JOB!!!!:cool1: Way back in November when I first joined this thread one of my goals was to find a new job and be done with child care and Eeyore (our favorite cheerleader) said "I know you can do it". Well, I did. I will be working at the new Walmart Distribution Center as a receiver. I am totally looking forward to it. I won't start for a couple of weeks as they are waiting on the results of the drug test and background check but those will be no problem. I am totally excited!!

And Eeyore Sandy- you and your running are an inspiration to me:goodvibes . I wish I could get myself motivated to get out and run. I used to but that was many years and three kids ago:rolleyes1 . Keep up the good work and stop the negative talk, missy.
Congrats on the job!!

Another stressfilled day is nearly over, thankfully.

I can't believe DH and I can be on such different pages when it comes to our life and family. Most of the time, we want the same things but we have different ways of getting there. I'm emotionally exhausted from arguing with him. I wonder if he views my desire to go back to school as a threat. I know he's worried about the impact on the family. I want to get more education so I can expand my skills and hopefully change jobs soon. I'm not trying to pursue a degree, just a certifacation program that is a pre-requisite to working in a pharmacy here in Indiana. I can use the information I learn to get a new job or to expand on the job I already have. (Just not where I am right now........) I would like to work in a pharmacy or hospital so I can have decent medical benefits for my family. Do I want to be a pharmacy tech the rest fo my lfe? I don't know, but it's an opportunity to expand my usefulness and to gain another immediately employable skill. Anyway, enough venting.

Thanks for all the hugs and support. It's hard enough making a potential life changing decision and having you ladies (and guys) here for a sounding board and :cheer2: really helps. Some one asked about financial aid; the class I want to take is a short course and not a degree program so as I understand it, I can't get aid. the tution is about as much as a my mortgage payment, we just don't have the ability to pay it right now. I finally got DH to agree to a small personal loan to take care of the tuition and books.

My sis will be here soon, I've got to run. I'll try some personals later; maybe tomorrow.... I got lost for a few days but I'm mostly caught up now.
Hang in there

Just keep at it! You can do it! I was surprised a little too about Joey, but the # of fans and the ones who will call in, etc. makes for an interesting dynamic on that show.

Apollo would look better without the facial hair! Ian is so much cuter now than he was on 90210. I think it is the hair. I was always more of a Dylan girl!:)

As far as gifts go I know it sounds simple but I would like a card that just told me thank you or told about somthing they appreciated about the year their child had with me. That would mean so much! (Especially, if they also gave a copy to my principal;) ). I would put it in my "feel good" file for the days I wonder if I am making a difference at all. I also love things I can use for the classroom. I got two puzzles from a student for Christmas and I thought it was so great! I have also heard of teachers getting dry-erase markers and pretty post-its and they love it!

I watch! I was shocked that Joey was in the bottom two! Especially since he was in 2nd with the judges' votes. Apparently his fan base isn't all that big (or aren't voting). My fave is Apollo. :cloud9: Although his arms and upper body freak me out. He looks so thin and feeble from the waist up but from the waist down...well, let's just say he was working those pants last night during the 2nd dance, the Paso. :rolleyes1 I want Ian to go home next then either Joey or Laila. As long as Apollo is in the final, I'll be happy.

Dance/Jen - I had to  when you said you didn't like Apollo because of an old BF...I didn't like his partner because she reminded me of Tammy's daughter on the real housewives of orange county, who I could not stand. But I got over it, and think she's sweet now (apollo's partner, not DD)

Thank you! My peeps keep me going!

Dene such pretty bling - and you made me giggle with your comments on your dd and hunkytrainerdude - I think she's just trying to convince you to let her come to those bbq parties - nuhuh dont do it!! ;)
Not planning on it!!!! Momma needs her "friend time"... without DD :rolleyes1

So big news for me-I GOT A NEW JOB!!!!:cool1:
Way to go!

Total:1380-WAY under my max, maybe too low because I had 2 dance classes yesterday too....
Probably should have more food... :teacher:

Now that you say that, she does look like Tammy's daughter!!:rotfl: I think Apollo seems like he is a sweet guy. I was wondering if Joey's joking has turned some fans off?

My mom mentioned it might have been his confident vs. cocky remark. I don't really mind him but I could definitely see how he could get on others nerves.

Dancin with the Stars - didnt anyone else get angry with... "the judge" that was so mean to Billy Ray - everyone knew his time was this week, but "the judge" calling him "crap" was WAY OUTTA LINE... I mean, did the judges treat Jerry Springer that way? NO, or that boxer that wouldnt even put on dancin shoes? NO, but its ok to disrespect a kind hearted country boy??? That made me mad!

How about Hunkydoctordandyandy?? aka The bachelor?? I'm a sucker for a good romance...*cough* ok so I just like the reality tv!! I've been hooked on the spoiler threads!

oh, and a package was delivered today, addressed to dh... and dd snarfed it inot her room, and now dh came home, and they are "closeted" in there discussing it... hmmmm... WAIT.. WAIT hold the presses.. DH PLANNED something... :faint: this is a guy that spent 3 hours a few christmas eve's ago staring at cards until the stores closed... no presents that year... :rotfl2: Bless his heart!! (and he hasnt done that again!!)

BEE Bee Beeeeeeee!! I miss you my friend... I hope to talk to you again...

I love the Homestyle Supper Bakes by Banquet (I think) in a red box...they have about 2 min. of prep time!!

I like them too but there's a lot of salt and fat in them. I have a few make ahead salads that make reasonable dinners. I love cook once eat twice meals as well.

Salads:
Overnight Layered Salad: Bagged salad mix, radishes, red or green peppers, torn spinach, celery, mushrooms (any non-juicy veggies like tomatos and no onions) frozen peas, 4T fat free mayo and 1 packet of sweet and low. Layer salad ingredients, placing the frozen peas on top of dry ingredients. Mix mayo and sweetner and spread on top, sealing edges. Place in fridge for 8 hrs or overnight. Sprinkle a bit of shredded cheese and/or bacon bits on top just before serving. I make this to serve one and take it to work. I can make it 4-5 days in advance.

Summer Salad: Cook shell or ring macaroni drain and cool. Mix tuna or chicken, mayo and peas into cooled pasta. Season as you'd like. We've made this with cubed cheese as well. This keeps for nearly a week also.

Make once and eat twice foods:
Spaghetti sauce can be turned into lasagna sauce, pizza sauce and my favorite, a base for veggie soup, add beef broth and frozen veggies, cook in crock pot for most of the day and serve with crusty french bread and a salad.

Pot roast can be restyled into beef stew and shepherd's pie. Make the roast with potatos and carrots, take out dinner sized portion and put the rest in a pot with a packet of stew seasoning. Left over stew becomes shepherd's pie by adding a can of mixed veggies, spreading in a cake pan and topping with mashed potatos; bake ate 350 until heated through.

Don't forget that you can make 2-3 extra servings of a meal and put it together like a frozen dinner.

Over on the competition board they are taking orders for the Lime green visor or hats that have WISH logo on them - $17 or $18 + shipping/handling $4

I want one!!

so if you are going Jan '08 please order a hat or visor (or they are going to submit an order for shirts too later tho) I'm ordering dh to get us hat/visor -so when he runs his marathon, he'll be cheered on by the cyber squad! :dance3: :cheer2:

(Lost the cheerleader - she does get around!)

My mom mentioned it might have been his confident vs. cocky remark. I don't really mind him but I could definitely see how he could get on others nerves.

Yeah, that was the comment I was thinking about. I wonder if people are getting tired of that.

..

I did think that judge was rude.:sad2: In the teacher's lounge today that was a major discussion.

I hope that your husband really came through for mother's day!:flower3:

I like the boca stuff (corn dogs, chicken patties, nuggets). Pair it with a veggie and they can make a really quick and filling meal.

Good ideas Noni... here's mine...

Buy a LOT of Chicken breasts - pound them - put some in a ziplock bag with lemon juice and some seasonings... or hey just throw some Italian salad dressing in there...

put some in a ziplock bag with teryiaki sauce ...

then grill the lot of them, one day - grill 10 - 15 of them -

Now then chop some up and put in a ziplock bag for to add to that bag of salad you can buy at the store...

throw some in a bag for a quick dinner...

Oh, while the grill is cooking, throw some rice in the cooker, (I have a wild rice blend I buy at the store - I cook a lot, then portion it out and freeze for the week)

Well, you get the idea - just cook ahead and freeze!!

to pound, put in a zipock bag, one at a time, use a 2X4, or a bottom of a pan, a hammer, or Ihave the special tool that the Frugal Gourmet used!! By pounding the breasts flat, it makes for even cooking - PLUS you dont eat as much, its pounded flat, it looks like "MORE FOOD"...

One of my favorite easy meals is to get a couple of boneless/skinless chicken breasts (like from Costco) and stick them into the little basket of my rotisserie... 25 minutes from frozen to perfect. No, I don't thaw them, put them in frozen, they are so thin they thaw as they cook. I like to use Emeril's seasoning blends... Original Essence and Southwest Essence... or sometimes I do Caribbean Jerk spice... all are yummmmmmmy! And during that 25 minutes, I make a salad, relax, chill, DIS, whatever.
