Punkin- your pic is adorable! (although I have to say, you just look like a healthy baby to me, I see no fat there!)

UPDATE ON RYAN---he was discharged from the hospital and is in an apartment near the hospital for at least another month. He is doing great and even the Dr's are amazed at how well he is doing. The pain that he was having in is belly and chest was not from the transplant or the medicine. It seems that when you are on a very bland diet and almost no protein for 8 years and then introduce protein to your system--your body does not know how to digest it--the pain was just big ole gas and indegestion pains from the new foods he is getting to try. He had chicken fingers for the first time and like all kids he loves them. His little brother is getting to go visit him next week and they are all excited by that. Thanks again for your continued prayers. GOD IS GOOD!!!
That is great news! (not about the gas pains though!)

Then my cousin called (we're close, like sisters) she wants to go to Disney in august, can I help her? :faint: I quickly decided to detour to her house - and got online showing her how to log on to wdw.com and showing her "no availabilty" over and over... so then she decided she really really wanted to do a budget trip, but her son needs to go, and they want to only go to 4 parks, but they only have to get 3 day tickets... (budget minded) so then I explain dining plans, and then she looked at all the resorts and decided her son would have the best time at... AKL!! :rotfl2: so again I explain the resorts (but she thinks the values are too kiddyish... but I like them too!) So I go online again and explain the resort seasons... now she is determined to do AKL, and I explain AKL is closed in August (she keeps saying "how do you know this?? :rotfl2: )

Now she thinks maybe she should go during Spring Break!! :rotfl2:
I'm with Dene...how can you not? I mean who in their right mind thinks SPRING BREAK is a GOOD time to go? :rotfl: It is so crowded during that time you could not PAY me to go! And it is July, she wanted to go this August, to AKL?:rotfl: Oh well, introduce her to the Dis, and she will soon see how you know so much. Or keep us your secret and just look like a genius ;)

I have put off my closet project almost all day. I feel VERY lazy today. I wish I could afford to do nothing, but the closet will not organize itself and I cant find any of my clothes anymore. If I dont get moving soon, it is gonna be scary around my house!

as i told fidgie i would, i'm posting proof of why my family calls me punkin.....

File0044.jpg

not as good as her picture of a baby actually IN a pumpkin, but you can see the layers of fat my mom had to put up with!

What a cute picture!

I Agree

Hey just a random question -- since I see some of you do Pilates, what exactly is a reformer? I know the gym that I go to has them, but haven't checked them out.

BTW -- Pilates was a blast, the teacher makes it really fun; an hour went past and we really didn't want to stop. :yay:

that's so great! glad to hear it!!! :goodvibes

thanks. i got worse, but i don't have any other pictures of myself as a baby - my mom has those. my dad played softball a lot and she said she would bring me home from the park and there would be just gobs of dirt in between my rolls of fat where i'd be playing in the dirt and she'd have to hold back the skin to get me clean..... the joys of motherhood.

DH's mom called a minute ago and she wants to cook me a belated birthday dinner tomorrow night. of course we're going because we don't want to be rude. but she's having hamburgers and potato salad...... and i'm not supposed to have a cheat day this weekend because i used it on wednesday for my birthday. i guess i'll be eating lettuce for lunch tomorrow to save room for those calories at dinner! i just hope she doesn't have cake! i know that sounds bad and ungrateful, but you guys know what i mean!

by the way, i cleaned out my closet (dance - i know what you mean.....i'm glad i'm done!!!) and i have like 4 pairs of pants left that actually fit me. it's pathetic, but in a good way!

Happy Birthday, Minnie Moo! (Melinda's cake was perfect!)

Morning Everyone!

I decided to join all of you - - Now, a little bit about me (I still have to catch up and read posts of the rest of you -- there's so much, it's going to take me awhile).

Last year, I had made Weight Watchers Lifetime and was at that point 115 pounds -- stopped going to meetings because I was running (training for the Disney Goofy Challenge) and was losing way too much weight to stay with Weight Watchers.....kept off the weight until about February 2007, when I got in a car accident -- at least that's what started the downward spiral.

In April, I found out I was pregnant - - only to lose the baby two months later. Well, between the car accident and miscarriage - - I was pretty darn depressed and just ate (nothing else to do).

Well, I'm happy to say that I decided (now being at my heaviest weight again) to rejoin the folks at Weight Watchers because of the great support and I wanted to learn to be really healthy again. Since rejoining I lost 3.8 pounds -- yeah, it's working . In addition, I'm still continuing with therapy and trying to keep on track. I even started Weight Watchers walking challenge.

Although, right now I have rejoined Weight Watchers and plan on getting down to 115 again, I ultimately joined to get healthy again and learn a healthy lifestyle.

Looking forward to shedding all of these pounds! Okay -- have to get ready for Pilates class and then I will try and catch up with everyone and their progress.

Jodi

Glad you're joining us!

Now, there's a switch! :lmao:

Way to go! Every good choice like that adds up.

That so perfectly describes how I feel! Oddly enough, I have no problem being around the people at the gym with confidence... because they saw where I was, how hard I've worked, and how far I've come. But when I meet someone for the first time or who never saw me at my largest, that's when I get all freaked out.

Computer... $1500
High-speed Internet... $30/mo
Imaginary friends who understand things I could NEVER tell anyone else... Priceless

I totally agree!! I could NOT have done this with you guys. My DH gets sick of me talking about weight loss and others just don't understand, not to mention I don't think I could actually *say* half of what I type here!

So. Sorry I wasn't around today. I have filled every second with yard sale preparations. The signs are UP tonight. I have everything in the garage at the ready, I just need to plop it all in a decorative manner to sell. The ad was placed a couple days ago and I'm ready! Now I just need a good night's sleep!

Hope it went well!!

Morning Everyone!

I decided to join all of you - - Now, a little bit about me (I still have to catch up and read posts of the rest of you -- there's so much, it's going to take me awhile).

Jodi

Welcome!!

my DH would be in heaven!!!!! he's such a nerd-geek, but that's why i love him. here's an example....not computer-related, but still very nerdy! yesterday i came home from work and he had a package. i called him to let him know and he made me open it because he couldn't remember that he'd ordered anything. i did and it was a huge transformer (yes, the toy) with a note from the pepsi company saying that he'd won it. he asked me what it looked like and i told him it said "pepsi optimus prime" on the box. he was soooooooooo excited and telling everyone in his office what he'd won! what a dork! he said that he'd entered a contest at taco bell to win it..... something i would never take the time to do. anyway, the saddest part is it'll never come out of the box. it'll go upstairs in our bonus room with the rest of his toys (gundam/star wars/he-man stuff). has anyone ever seen the movie "the 40-year old virgin"?......:rotfl2:

Great movie!! My DH has many "toys"... he is definitely a nerd-geek too, although in a different way than me. I do it for a living, he does it for a hobby.

So, lunch today at my conference was... Italian. Pasta, caesar salad dripping with dressing, pan-fried chicken cutlets, canoli, tiramisu. So, I packed my butt in my car and drove the 3 miles home and ate my turkey pita and soup! I did break and have a quarter of a brownie at snacktime, but overall I am proud of myself.

DH is firmly on the wagon again... he realized that we have 2 mos until our Sept trip and he wanted to be a lot thinner by then, so he has gone hard core. That helps me so much, when he isn't tempting me off the path.

Hey UM, when did we start the 20 lb Sept challenge? I have my weight track spreadsheet and I want to see how close I am. What counts as Sept? Sept 1?

Maybe try to get in some exercise beforehand or after? There are lots of things that count as exercise you know :rolleyes1 Like cleaning MY closet...wanna come help?? All I have done so far is pull it all out onto the bed/floor. It is a disaster area, and now I am exhausted. Maybe I can finish it tomorrow. I have zero energy these days!

I've taken a few pilates classes... but we haven't used any equipment besides a mat. And you must have a great instructor :yay: ... cause the two I have had have bored me out of my gourd.

i'm not supposed to have a cheat day this weekend because i used it on wednesday for my birthday. i guess i'll be eating lettuce for lunch tomorrow to save room for those calories at dinner! i just hope she doesn't have cake! i know that sounds bad and ungrateful, but you guys know what i mean!

It's like a diary that talks back... :thumbsup2

It's like a diary that talks back... :thumbsup2

Exactly! I love that analogy.

I am sooooooo bored tonight. I've been doing some client paperwork but I can't finish it until I get the files from the clinic. There is nothing on TV. I'm tired but not sleepy. So I'm surfing the net and drinking a glass of wine.

On a brighter note, I went to the mall today :goodvibes and got a couple more tops. Actually they are the same style I got a couple weeks ago, but in different colors. When I find something I like, I tend to buy multiples of it in assorted colors.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a great weekend so far :cutie:

i took me awhile, too. i had the TV on HBO and watched half of "the devil wears prada" and "monster-in-law" in its entirety while going through my closet! although i didn't clean out the top shelves or my shoes, so i'm not doing the entire thing. now i have to go and clean off my bed because it's covered with clothes hangers!

Thanks Dawn!! I really almost didn't even want it... like I said before, chafing dish banquet food just doesn't seem worth cheating on. And it isn't like I have to save face w/ a bunch of nerd-geeks!

You know, I was talking to some coworkers between two of the talks. One of the guys is extremely overweight, probably 400 or so at 5'10, and in his 40s. He has severe sleep apnea (has to wear one of those machines), heart problems, etc., and breathes like he is snoring. So, they asked me where I was at lunch... they all know about the diet, of course. I said the food was nothing I could eat so I went home. One of them, who is thin, asked me what I had and I told him, and the other guy chimes in, "I had lasagna, and <insert litany of fattening foods here>..." like he was bragging and I thought, gee, that really isn't anything to brag about!

However, I can see at these things why we all fight weight so much. There was some fruit served but overall, LOADs of fattening foods and very few healthy choices.

How adorable! :cutie:

I always wonder "how can you not?" :lmao:

Well, there you go - I'm so glad you're talking to us again!!

Punkin- your pic is adorable! (although I have to say, you just look like a healthy baby to me, I see no fat there!)

ITA about Punkin's pic!! and in the world of dd "How rude!!" Lazy?!! :rotfl: I have to do so much to get up to your def. of lazy!!

and about my cousin... I'm convinced she has a learning disabilty - and I'm so proud of all that she has accomplished, how determined she is, how strong she is - and I know she feels so much negativity towards herself - that negative talk and all... she really struggles at reading, so I cant get her to read Disney books or go online to post - but she definatley takes my suggestions... but she eye rolls when I tell her she cant do 4 parks in 3 days!! She is just so determined to go to Disney tho, I want to help her with that dream... she is trying to figure out how I'm planning on TWO trips!! "life is short" I make weird choices, wrong choices... but sometimes I feel that happy place is what keeps me going!!

What a cute picture!

I Agree

oooooh ooooh!! WELCOME Jodi!! :dance3: so glad you are joining in - and you're posting questions!!! :woohoo: and :yay:

a looooooooooOOOOOOooooooooooooooonnnnnngggg time ago... before Pilates... there was this ballet dancer - and her name was Calla Pickney (dont quote me, I dont have time to google search!) she suffered, gained weight (went from 95# to 120# - ok kidding, but I'm telling you I could see no fat on her!!) she had a terrible back problem... she decided to "shape up" and went to what she knew - ballet warmups... and incorparted the knowledge of ballet into the exercises... and in Hollyweird.. she became famous - and wrote books, did vhs tapes - and I see so many of her exercises in Pilates... those slow specific exercises work!!

(and two of hers I've posted here - oh, look up Callenetics (sp?) btw) the arms behind you, thumbs up, raise arms higher always, and slowly move your thumbs together, slightly apart... for 50 then build up to 100!! I also do a couple of her exercises in weird places... as I'm curling my hair, I do curls... etc...

Happy Birthday, Minnie Moo! (Melinda's cake was perfect!)

 AnnNan

I'm up to chapter eleven... dont want to rush the last book!! *sniff *sniff1 (not a spoiler, just sniffing because its Book 7)

Glad you're joining us!

It's like a diary that talks back... :thumbsup2

i know exactly what you mean. AND fattening food is cheaper and more convenient.....makes it so easy to gain weight without even trying!!!!! it's very frustrating.

the night of my birthday dinner at my favorite mexican restaurant there was this man that was so overweight he barely fit in his chair....well, really he didn't. he was falling out of both sides. anyway, he ordered two full meals. i couldn't believe it. i wanted to say to him, "don't you know what you're doing to your body? let me help you.....join the peeps!" seriously, though, it was really sad. and people don't have to completey cut out their favorite foods. we eat mexican at least once a week, but we SHARE something because on top of all the chips and salsa and the margarita i'm usually having, it's MORE than enough! oh, and we usually order churros too (because this place has the BEST churros EVER.......puts disney's to shame!), but i only have like half of one and we never finish them. anyway, now that you know what i eat on my cheat day......that was beside the point. the point is that this poor man was just eating all this food and not thinking twice about it and i promise he weighed at least 400 pounds......so sad.

well, i'm off to bed now. or at least i'm off to clean the hangers off my bed so i can lay down in it! night, peeps!

K... welll, I thought I'd share my final PTR post since by the time I am DISing again I will have returned from WDW and it will be a regular ol TR! lol!

"So what happens the night before Disney when you finnally finshed packing and you are laying awake in bed with your eyes open because you are super excited even though you have to leave at 5:30 the next morning???
Well, you visit the forums of course!"

My bags are packed and I am ready to go
I am standing here right by my door
I hate to go to sleep Im so excited
Cause Im leaving on a jet plane
Going back to Disney World again
Oh, babe I love to go....

HaHa! I know I am a dork! See you in a little more than a week!
;) "

Anyways, peeps, I am going to pedometer my walking, eat fruit for breakfast and try and make some healthy lunch TS choices to earn those delish disney dinners! Wish me luck! When I get back I will be no holds barred with getting on the wieght loss train- I won't have any more excuses to make so I am hoping that this WDW trip will end up being my "Before" pics. :thumbsup2

I've had a positive influence on the people at school because of the way I have been eating... just the other day, when I was at school to help interview a new teacher, the principal saw me and wrote herself a note to make sure we had healthy snacks and foods available at the retreat we have August 20th. :cool2:

Well, there you go - I'm so glad you're talking to us again!!

I'm glad I'm back and that you're talking to me... I felt like such a desserter... I was all caught up in a bunch of stuff and couldn't find a way to juggle everything.

And I don't know if anyone has noticed, but I haven't really talked about Jay, the Hunky Trainer Dude, so much lately. He's still my friend, talk to him all the time... just not crushing on him anymore. Am soooo over that. I love him to death... but more like a little brother now.

the night of my birthday dinner at my favorite mexican restaurant there was this man that was so overweight he barely fit in his chair....well, really he didn't. he was falling out of both sides.

Some of my favoritie things about being a "loser"...
1) not having to worry about fitting into chairs with arms or booths at restaurants
2) having lots of room in the movie theater seat
3) having lots of room in student desks
4) knowing that the next time I fly somewhere, I won't have to take my seatbelt extenders (I own two different models for different airlines)
5) having sooooo much more energy

Idea for the new Peeps... I said this a while back, but there are so many new Peeps I thought I'd repeat it. Go to the gym, find the dumbell/barbell closest to the amount of weight you have lost. Pick it up and imagine carrying that thing around 24/7. :scared1:

We're all dorks here! I  your luggage! I have the brown carryon luggage with the Mickey heads... looks like a Coach bag from afar.

Have a great trip!!!

I found the letter "C" for my laptop. Now it is complete. DH and I were talking last night after we put little man down and it was not good---we have gone over on this addition more than we had allowed room for. We did not sign a contract with our builder because when he built the house 2 years ago we only went over very little--we just did not sod the yard like was in the bugget so we did not have to come up with any extra cash. Well on this project they gave us a quote and we added x anmount to close and x amount as a cushion in case we went over and if we didn't we would use that money to pay off some bills. Well here we are and we have already gone through cush money and we are into the closing money plus some. Everything is more than what they had projected just in May. We are paying out of pocket for a new AC unit--the one we had is not big enough for the new addition and the house. I am at the point where I am very worried how we are going to finish. Rephrase we can finish without a problem, coming up with the closing cost is what I am worried about. On top of that we found out that they did not order enough brick to brick our new storage unit--even though we had discussed and rediscussed how much we and the builder wanted it to match the house. Footings were not even poured for the brick. They ordered siding for it instead. If we ordered the brick it would add another month to the project and more money not to mention having the concrete guys come back out and more money. We are just now going to let them side it up and maybe down the road brick it when we can. The reason it was important to brick is because eventually we will close in the garage and add a carport on to this storage area--we have it set up and layed out for this future add on--I guess we could always do it then. It is just me and my OCDness that it all has to match !! The whole reason I say this is that we have put any trip on hold for at least 2 or more years. We were still going to go to beach, but even that is out of the equation now. We just want to get out of this financial mess. Sorry I did not mean to vent this long.

MELINDA here is a link about passports: I was like no--really--in a sarcastic way. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070722/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/passport_mess

Off to get ready for church, then baby shower for a friend, and then my dad is coming over to help us with a project. Hope everyone has a great day!!

Good Morning, good morning.... GOOOOOOOooooooOOOOD morning!! (I have been hearing Anne Murray singing in my head... :rotfl: the song from the movie where Figment is introduced!! we'll laugh everyday... we'll sing in the sunshine... then I"ll be on my way... between that and dreaming of Harry Potter, I guess I am going NUTS!! :rotfl2:

Denecan I just say... I love your spirit, your determination - I love how honest you are, and your willingness to share!!! Thank you!! and about those weights... :rolleyes1 I'd like to go on record to say, every other day I lift with 2 5# weights (work on arms, squats, lunges etc people!!) and I think "why cant I lose10# it will be so much easier to run 10# lighter!"

I told dh we need to quit eating for one week - just the basics, drink tomato juice, smoothies, (home made w/ 100 calorie yogurt!) etc... maybe one day of nothing but watermelon!! :rotfl2: I"m starting to feel so desparate to see a lower number! ah but I'd put all those pounds back on the moment I drank my water!!

Someone's GONE to DISNEY!! I wanna go too!! :dance3:

GOOD MORNING,EVERYONE! :sunny:

Another gorgeous day here in central KY! Current tempurature: 60!!! High today: 83 and cloudless with low humidity! If anybody needs me I'll be at the pool.

Heather......Thanks for the link. It's nice that someone finally said they were sorry and admitted the many problems but it doesn't really change anything for the people who did have to cancel their honeymoons and vacations. I think it was all the constiuent calls that finally made congress act!

You may vent all you want about your addition but don't give up hope. You may get some money you were expecting. God has a way of coming through in these situations.

And thanks for the update on Ryan. He remains in my prayers.

MEL....Have a great time at the World!

PUNKIN....You were such a yummy little fat baby! My son weighed 25 pounds at 6 months. I know all about those fat rolls!

MOO....Glad you had a great birfday! You deserve it!

KAT...Keep slimming right up until you leave for vacation! I would count day 1 of your vacation as the end of the Sept. challenge.

SANDY.
...So happy DD had a wonderful camp experience!!! Isn't it funny how they always look different when you pick them up at camp!

DENE
....Loved your "Things I love" list.

NANCY
....You are always so sweet to comment about everybody else but what's going on with YOU!

EVERYBODY ELSE
...:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
