Hmmm. I havent a clue what chess pie is. Could you try looking up the ingredients? I would just have it and enjoy it. It is a special day.

chess pie = good!

it's sort of like the filling of a pecan pie but without the pecans. so delectable and good!!!!!!!!

Happy Easter Peeps!!!!

How adorable! After reading your WDW TR, I almost feel like I "know" your family! She looks precious!

Dinner tonight was spaghetti (made with extra lean ground beef) and soy pasta instead of the regular or whole wheat stuff. Half the carbohydrates, and a TON of protein! I'm stuffed!

i've never had pecans in chess pie before, but i'm sure it would be good! that's why that calorie count is so high though.

and it is sugar in pie crust, but it's really yummy!!! it has sort of a buttery flavor to it or something. i LOVE chess pie. it's something i cannot resist. i'm not a sweets girl, but i have a weakness for it.

We're still "church searching" but I think we found one we like ok. We loved our last church in TX, but God has one picked out here for us! It's a massive church though, which I don't usually gravitate towards, but the assistant is an excellent speaker. WE'll probably give it another few weels.

I know that today will be very hectic at church! The traffic coming into MB on Friday was kind of thick. Forget going to lunch afterward, but we'll probably do that anyway!

Hope you all have a blessed Easter and that noone gets sick!

Good luck with your church searching!! I hope you find one that you feel at home at.

WELCOME BEKA

It was a huge reminder to me, that God has a place for all of us, and if we follow Him, we will be blessed!!
Well said!!:)

Happy Easter everyone!

Try Old Navy's website! They have a lot of different shorts this year - at lots of different lengths. And they have cargo bermudas! Actually the shorts I tried on that fit better than last year are 5 in. inseam, and they hit me about mid thigh. I need to actually go to the store to try on those cargo bermudas though. They looked cute!

I just got me some Morningstar corn dogs last night at Super WalMart! ;)

My friends and I always identified with certain characters in the movie. My one friend was like Bridget Fonda's character, in that she was hmmmm, searching for a word...a little more eager. :rolleyes1 Not that she actually did anything, if ya know what I mean. ;) Then, there was my other friend, who was like the practical one, but not quite that extreme, of course. And I was more like pudge. I was into dance and never had a boyfriend in high school.

I was looking at those Bermuda shorts online last week. I need to get to the store to try some on. They do look cute. The Morningstar corn dogs are awesome! I also identified with Pudge.:)

Wanna see my bunny cake? I am a bit proud of this because I wasnt sure I could pull it off. The bunny is actually 2 halves being held together with chocolate buttercream. The bow is fabric in case you cant tell, and the eggs are cadbury mini eggs My favorite :cloud9: I am not sure I am going to be able to cut this one, I may have to make somebody else do it!

bunnycake.jpg

That is so cute!! You did a great job!:cool1:

I got one snide jab from her today. DF bowled a 300 last month and got a free ring b/c of it. Nice ring but he agrees it is too tacky to wear to the wedding. It is sorta like a high school ring. Anyway, SIL asked if he was wearing it to the wedding and I said no but he's wearing it at the rehearsal. Then she said in her sweet, but EXTREMELY condescending voice, "Don't you think he has earned the right to wear it whenever he wants?" Um I hate her. I know it sounds so petty but if you could only hear the tone she takes with me. I just ignore her.

Yeppers...Friday is the big day. We have dealt with so much crap from the future in-laws that I haven't had time to get nervous. It really hasn't even sunk in yet..I bet by Thursday things will change!!! :scared1: I should have told SIL today when she made the ring comment that Ray not wearing it was one of my rules. Hmm.

I did ok on resisting the candy. Just ok. Had 2 cookies and 4 small pieces of chocolate. Better then I usually would have done. I figure this week and next will be off for me b/c of the wedding and all that delicious food! BUT..I do have the week off so if it warms up a bit I hope to get back to walking!! How did everyone else do on resisting the treats??

I am sorry that you got a rude comment from your SIL. It sounds like you handled it well. Good job resisting the candy temptations!:cheer2:

Happy Easter Peeps!!!!

You are both beautiful!princess:

Happy Easter Peeps!!:)

Today I tried to make better choices than I normally would have on a holiday. I drank my water and I tried to keep my portions under control. My husband and I ran to the store to get groceries. I am stocked up on healthy food. I also got a balance ball and a scale :scared1: . So, I weighed myself when I got home. I know it wasn't the best time to do it since it was at the end of the day and I had already eaten Easter dinner. My total may be off somewhat but I think it is close. I will do it again tomorrow morning and compare. I ended up with a pretty plain scale. I was just at Walmart and they didn't have a big selection. Some of the things I got to eat:sf/ff Jello pudding cups, light string cheese, gardenburgers, 1pt english muffins, turkey, 100 cal. Breyers ice cream cups, apples, strawberries, lean cusine meals, salad mix, spray dressing, ff pringles, Walmart brand Crystal Light (cherry, orange and apple), South Beach Diet oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I am stocked up and I feel like I CAN do this. :yay:

Happy Easter Peeps!!!!

Girl, your skin looks amazing (and you look smashing)! How do you do it? You'd think that being in my 20's, I would have killer skin. nope, blotchy, uneven skin tone and very prone to breakouts. I'm envious! Norah is a cutie-patootie!

um.....does anyone know the calorie count for a very, very small sliver of chess pie??? :rolleyes1

i can't find it at calorieking.com. any ideas?

I was going to ask what the heck chess pie is, but you all answered it for me. Holy sugar batman. I'm not a big fan of pecan pie either, except my DSIL does make a chocolate pecan pie that is pretty yummy.

Oh, I didn't realize you were tlaking about work out shorts! I need some of those too! I also want a capri version. When it gets hot here, I don't want to pass out while I'm walking Jasper! Let me know what you find. Ya know, my Old Navy jeans tend to get big in the waist before they get big in the booty too! You are not alone! ;)

The same thing happens to me with my Old navy pants/shorts. I have a lot of them because they are usually cheap and they come in my size. Anyway, regardless of if I have lost anything or not, once I wear the pants a few times, the waist is completely stretched out and falling off me. Very annoying. I need suspenders!

Hope everyone had a very Happy Easter! I totally blew the diet today. Can you say candy? I can't because I have a mouth full of it. But I'm getting it out of my system and Monday is a new day. Has anyone noticed my ticker - only 8 days left til I'm on my first ever cruise!

. So, for now we dont go to church because I am having trust issues. I still pray daily and still believe. I hope you all have a blessed Easter (or whatever you celebrate) and stay skinny;)

Praying for this all to work out for you. Something very bad happened to DD at our old church, and DH lost faith altogether. After much prayer by family and friends, he went on a men's retreat and renewed his faith. We have selected a church together now, and one of the best thing's is, it's walking distance. We walked to Mass this morning, and it was beautiful. Walking hand-in-hand to church and back was also a witness to our neighbors. I am very happy about our choice (it's also the church where DH was baptized 18 years ago on Easter).

Wanna see my bunny cake?
bunnycake.jpg

beautiful. you are so talented!

He put our 10 LBS. Ham in the freezer! My ham was frozen solid! I put it in the sink with cold water for a few minutes, so I could release the wrapper from the ham. I then looked up several websites and got info on how to cook a frozen ham...

I then went to get myself some ice water, to bring with me in the car and a 15 LBS. bag of ice fell out of the freezer on my foot.

We didn't make it to church:guilty: :sad1:

What an Easter... I have got to keep out of the jelly beans now!

don't let it eat at you (or you eat at it). Holidays are so hard because we have such high expectations. Hope your foots OK.

I was supposed to wake DF from his nap 20m. ago to head over to see the in-laws. I am evil. We were supposed to leave 6m. ago. Ugh..I dread seeing future SIL. I wonder how many more "rules" she will say I have today? If I don't eat much for dinner, and she says something, I will tell her that's another one of my "rules." How I live for controversy!! MWHAHAHA! :lmao:

You're twisted, No wonder I like you!

Good choices!:thumbsup2

I ate a few little chocolate eggs and 2/3 slice of coffee cake from Hobee's. that was the worst of it. For breakfast, I had 2 Van's multi-grain waffles, 80 calories a piece, with FF Cool Whip and 1/2 c. mixed berries from Costco. Yum.

At Hobee's I had the lowfat egg substitute with veggies, no cheese. And the infamous coffee cake I mentioned above. I think I'll have salad with lite dressing and a chicken breast for dinner. I'm still hungry.

Enjoy the rest of Easter. for those who had disappointments today, I hope it improves.

I really want to buy the movie Shag now! It is $10.88 on DVD at Walmart. I just might have to order it! :happytv:
I belive the DVD version is different from the VHS version. Not alot, but if I remember correctly the last song where they win the contest is different! That is a major difference. I cant remember what they change it to, but now I have to go watch it too.

Happy Easter Peeps!!!!
You look fabulous!! Her dress is so pretty!

There was some cheesecake at the in-laws today...I resisted that. Then saw 4 of those dreaded Cadbury Mini Eggs on the cookie plate. 4 is better then the whole bag I ate in 3 days last month! lol
Those eggs are the devil I tell you. My best friend and I eat them when we scrapbook. We stock up after the holiday so we dont run out. We even bought some after christmas- did you know they made them at christmas too?!
The good thing is you will burn those off with pre-wedding stress in no time this week. I remember my wedding week vividly. It all hit me on thursday...you plan and plan for so long and then finally you are ready to actually DO the things you were planning- like the rehearsal and dinner and getting ready. It was all so fun and went so fast once it started:sad1:

Thanks for the welcomes! I've known you all about 10 hours and i like you already. Whoever made that bunny cake gets major kudos! It's amazing! Was the mold from William's Sonoma?
Actually it is a very old pan my mom gave me, a Wilton pan.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. Sometimes I think my stuff is great and then I wonder if other people see it as I do, you know?
R.I.P bunny cake. I made my sister cut it, I couldnt do it :rotfl: He was yummy though! That is really all I ate, along with about 3 cadbury mini eggs. I cant even believe it. I usually crave it all and cant stop eating all the candy and this year I could have cared less. Thanks to you peeps I think. I knew if I blew it I would have to come back here and fess up to it!

We are church homeless right now. I am becoming disillussioned with the minister/pastors and the whole financial aspect of it. I was raised Methodist. Our church was tiny and from the 1700's. I loved the place and the people.Unfortunatel as older folks passed on not enough new folks joined. Then the treasurer stole from the church and long story short it was sold to make condos. We went to a new church where a lot of former membrs went and there were so many hippocrites. I knew of several people having affairs including a fellow choir member and the pastor. I just felt it wasnt right so we left. We hopped around and I finally felt we found a church where we were at home. It is a Congregational. The minister is from the South and was a little more conservative than the old pne but I still enjoyed his preaching and the kids seemed to be learning in Sunday school and liked youth group. Then things began to change. We became part of a large cluster which is much more conservative and much more cultish. The Sunday school teacher began teaching my kids things I dont believe or agree with. For example thier relatvies who dont come and are not born again will burn for eternity in damnation.Nice. Way to scare the kids. Telling them they will go to h-e-double toothpicks if they watch certain tv shows etc. Bad stuff. I met my husband and began spending time away because he was from another state.Consequently I missed severel of weeks at church.I didnt know about the upcoming vote for pastor and youth pastors to get a raise and the pastor to buy the parsonage at lower than assessed value from church. I was contacted by deacons and told I had to resign my memebership to temporary associate status because they feared people who dont attend regulary could vote against them on these two issues. I was so mad about the way thus was handled that I have not been back in two years. I feel that if someone would "fix" a vote they are evil and liars and I will not have liars teaching my kids the word of God. So, for now we dont go to church because I am having trust issues. I still pray daily and still believe. I hope you all have a blessed Easter (or whatever you celebrate) and stay skinny;)

Snow - just know that God loves you, and your relationship with HIm can lead you to a better church where you can learn and serve and be a part of a family...

Would you mind letting one more WISHing DISer join your thread? I'm looking to diversify my workouts so I'm looking for suggestions in that department. If you're looking to buy shorts, I just bought my first pair (non-gym) in over 6 years at old navy. I didn't want to spend a lot on them b/c I'm not sure how comfortable I'm going to be in them. I'm going to try them out in WDW in 2 weeks. I'm very nervous! I just hate the when you sit down, you leg expands, and it gets suffocated by the leg hole on the shorts!

Here we call that the Stuffed Sausage look...and I fit that mold with my arms and my thunder thighs... ugh

You married thhe Easter bunny?!:rotfl: :lmao: In my house I am the easter bunny and I only gave DH a box of jelly bellys and some white chocolate reeses eggs:eek:

I'm not telling what 'present' the Easter Bunny gave at my house;)

i should've been smart and saved my cheat day for today! but no....i had to do that friday! see, if i lose more than 1 pound then i allow myself a day where i don't count calories and i did that on friday.

i'm actually doing okay right now. i'm at 1192 for today. but i have a feeling that chess pie is going to put me over my 1500 limit and then i'll have to go to bed with no snack!!!! i cannot live without my after dinner snack......oh, the horror!!! :scared:

:lmao: I read that as Shaved my Chest today!!!:lmao:

P1010103.jpg

Not sure if you can tell or not, probably not since it came out so small here, but right before we went to my moms house she walked into the corner of the ironing board and gave herself a nice shiner under her left eye. Poor baby! I still have no clue how she managed to do that!

Happy Easter Peeps!!!!

Must add my gushes - so gorgeous, talk about beauty - you are fantabulous! Thank you for sharing - the look in your eye, its pure mamma luv!! (and I love your highlights - I'm so not daring - ) your photographer gets kudos, they have captured the love and beauty so well!!

My friend from Boston laughs and calls chess pie "sugar pie". He says "In New England we can afford to put berries in our pie."

:rotfl: My cousin makes chess pie for her dh, I'm with the poster that said it was like pecan pie w/0 pecans... only more custard like... custard pie... thicker than a flan - or creme bruelle... but good!!
I make a really yummy apple pie and pretty good pumpkin pie but chess pie is a new one. We tried Shoo Fly pie in PA but I didnt like it. It was like sugar in a pie crust. I wonder if it is similar. I am off to check it out.
Shoo fly pie is more like pecan pie imho (no pecans) and its shoo fly because flies love the sugar and people were like "go away fly, shoo fly!!) seriously!!( gotta luv the research a 3rd grade teacher has to have !)

Thanks for the welcomes! I've known you all about 10 hours and i like you already. Whoever made that bunny cake gets major kudos! It's amazing! Was the mold from William's Sonoma?

I think she said it was a Wilton? You can get it from Michaels - and making those star points is a lot easier than I first thought - - I bought a circular mold to make a soccer ball cake - I thought the cake decorating was easy - but I really didnt care for the cake - it was a pound cake - not that I'm picky!! :rotfl:
chess pie = good!

it's sort of like the filling of a pecan pie but without the pecans. so delectable and good!!!!!!!!
Hah - I did quote you!!! *grin!!

Holy cow ya'll, I've been looking at this thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=773269

WHY? Bad idea. No wonder I ate so fast @ dinner. Yikes! I think my hiney grew a little while reading through that.

That's commonly known as the "Food Porn" thread!! I have tons of food pics, but never posted them... gotta luv food!

Easter Bunny here was such a champ as I collapsed into bed early (11 pm dd and dh still up talking and reading! EB thought I needed not one, but TWO 3.53 ounce smooth milk chocolate DOVE bars!! and 2 truffle dove eggs!! but we are all devouring the cadburry eggs!!

My oven died... so I had to cook the City Ham in my crock pot - I watched Alton brown, and have found a ham to be so much more flavorful with the skin on it (as opposed to the super easy spiral sliced hams!) and at 89cents a # $10 bucks was a HUGE bargain... it worked out ok - I made the baked beans Sat (great recipe - butter beans, baked beans, hamburger meat, molasses, brown sugar..) and then I forgot to put the beans on the table... so sad only 3 of us tho.................

:dance3:

I LOVE  the bunny cake - so talented... beautiful!! I'll bet the kids LOVED it too!!

I have to say again uma - that picture is so mesmorizing!! Neither of you looking at the camera, and yet both of your eyes are so expressive!! so beautiful!!
