I know you've been avoiding fried foods, sweets, etc., but do you have some favorite foods that you feel help with the weight loss? Or is it pretty much the exercise?
This is what hunky trainer and I have come up with for me... YMMV...
1. I exercise daily... not always strenuous... a walk in the park is exercise.
2. I drink an average of 1.5 gallons of water a day... no sodas/colas, no coffee, no alcohol (but those are personal preference anyway).
3. Fat-free or reduced fat dairy products. Fat-free cottage cheese and skim milk... feta and fresh mozarella have 1/3 less calories than cheddar.
4. No beef or pork. I eat turkey, chicken, and fish. I eat ground turkey instead of ground beef. For fish I prefer tuna steaks and salmon fillets. And I also eat eggs and reduced-fat peanut butter.
5. My pans don't require oil.
6. Fruits and carbs are mostly consumed earlier in the day... afternoon snack is a protein or nuts... dinner is protein and veggies or salad. (I eat 5 times a day now.)
7. Salads get a quick spray of extra virgin olive oil (usually) and a sprinkle of whatever vinegar I'm in the mood for (balsamic, salad, red wine). Sometimes I skip the oil (I have a cool sprayer from Bed, Bath, and Beyond)
8. Whole grain breads and cereals (when I eat them).
9. As little salt as possible... there is salt in Emeril's Essence that I use... but I don't use a salt shaker for anything.
10. Almost everything I eat is "fresh"... don't eat canned stuff or prepackaged anything (okay, I'm a realist, I know everybody can't do this... specially with kiddos). Dinner usually takes 10-20 minutes to fix... longer if I'm using the rotisserie for my chicken breast, but that's automatic... no maintenance/turning, etc required.
You know, I am the only one who gained this weight overnight..

. I want to see results overnight also!
Hunky trainer asked what my biggest hurdle was yesterday... IMPATIENCE!
Bee, I hope you enjoy your Y as much as I enjoy mine... there's really a "good" feeling about the place. Much success and happiness to you.
I just might have to try our local Y again... I'd love to have a cute trainer!
I think I need to get me a hunky trainer dude too
It definitely helps in the motivation department... I think I go more often and stay longer just so I can watch him...
Do you want to borrow my teenage stylist? She is really good- She gave me a make over yesterday. I got some cute clothes and I let her get a hold of my hair- she said I should "tame the mane" - its not the 80's mom

I didnt let her do the makeup though- not ready to go there yet.
Now all the young'uns want straight hair that lays there all nice and serene... my 80's hair I worked hard to get it to stick up and be "wild"... that is when I didn't have it like Chrissy on Three's Company...
I WISH today was weigh day!!!! ((hint hint))
I have been one the best diet for two days!
Maybe you've heard of it? The Strep Throat diet?
It ROCKS!
OUCH!
Dene... You are getting healthier...
Confirmed by my new doctor this morning! Blood test results won't be back for a couple of days, but my blood pressure was 122 over 80!!
Hey Peeps, signing on here breaking the rules to let my Peeps know that I got the test results back, my thyroid is goofed up and whatever test they did came back abnormal. I go Monday to discuss medication and options and what it all means...I'm a little spooked right now because I have been reading and the scary things always stick in your brain, so I will try to not panic til I really get to know what I am dealing with. It's not gonna help to worry anyways and I do feel a little better that I know its something
Having a diagnosis... even if it isn't your favorite diagnosis is better than not knowing. Hope this is something that is easily fixed AND makes you feel tons better when it is fixed...
Dene - so glad you got to report to the hunky trainer.

..I too enjoyed some eyecandy last night, I have a favorite row of ellipticals that I like to use because it puts me right at this certain machine that provides a very nice view

I notice that alot of the guys at the gym are wearing long sleeves and I couldn't help but think - when is the gun show?
Treadmill/elliptical choices... better tv channels or better view of the free weights where most the guys are... hmmmmm, which do you think
I choose?
