Thanks for asking!! I was able to avoid her most of the night. Since the in-laws house is so divided she was downstairs with the older relatives while we were upstairs with the bridal party. So no idea what she said. We certainly enjoyed the cake!! At the wedding someone approached the DJ, we don't know who, and wanted an annoucement made about Ray's b-day. Luckily he asked us what we thought first and Ray was against it. Said we celebrated his b-day the night before and the wedding was not the time/place. I bet it was his mother or sister.

Thank you!

Time for bed Peeps....only 9.5 weeks until Disney for me!! :wizard:

I'm glad that it worked out for you! Great DJ for checking in with you first! It is getting closer! Are you going to do a trip report?

Hi everyone I am Kelly and I am new here. I post on the open mike thread where I ran into Wendy and saw that she was on South Beach. I PMed her about posting her before I did.

I am 32 and married. I have 2 sons ages 8 and 3. I was on bed rest with both. I had put on some weight with the first and had lost most of it when i got pregnant with the second. Since then I have yoyod around.

I have been doing south beach again and until I lose more weight I am keeping myself on stage 1. Whenever I add in bread or eat pasta its bad.
I walk during the week plus do denise austin. I have her DVDs and I love them. I also get that fitness tv and sometimes do stuff off of that.

I need to lose around 50 pounds. I want to do this for me so I can be healthier and happier.

I love WDW and we go several times a year. I have been 5 times in the last 7 months and I am always looking for a reason to go home to the world.

Thanks

party: :welcome: party: This is a great group!!

EXERCISE CHALLENGE
Belle - is there really that much of a difference in the crystal light and wal-mart prices where you are? Here they are about 7 cents different.
I like the wal-mart apple juice one and the crystal light sunrise orange.
I wish they would put the ruby red grapefruit in the on the go packets! Then I'd be in heaven!

I'm sorry, I'm not sure of the price difference. I know that I like the way it tastes! Cherry, apple and orange are my favorites. I haven't tried the ruby red grapefruit. I will have to look for it.

just a flyby to say.....
what gets me through it is i consider it the one hour of the day that i can clear my head and i don't have to think about work, cleaning my house, bills, any of that yucky stuff!

AND.............

MY TICKER IS IN THE TEENS!!!!!!!!:woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

have a great day everyone! :)

That is a good way to think about excercise. I will have to remember that! and :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: for being in the teens!!

Well, I was pleased that I have just lost 35 lbs, but he had seen me when I was smaller. (Granted that was a LONG time ago!) But he had seen me at this size too, so whatever. One thing that was weird...he seemed shorter! I am not any taller than I was then, and I could have sworn he was taller than he looked the other day, but maybe that's just the way he was standing. I WAS having a good hair day though! :thumbsup2

This chance meeting inspired me to read my diary from high school! :rotfl: (I knew it was filled with stuff about this guy, and following the weirdness of the meeting, I wanted to refresh my memory.) This is funny reading ladies! :lmao: Oh my! I am not done catching up, but if I find anything particularly funny and not too embarassing, I will share a snippet. And I will have to post a picture of me from high school to go along with it!

Old diaries are funny to read aren't they?? I always think if I knew then what I know now....;) Did you like the Boca corn dogs?

Just checking in.

Ok- today is the big challenge: I have to take the girls to dance and it is usually an eat out night with fast food in the car. I'm at the studio from 5:30 to 8:30 with a 40 min drive to and from- So dinner from town is the norm- I will need all the PeeP power available to say no to Sonic, Zaxby's, Milos, McAlisters, KFC- well you get the point.
My plan is to pack a lunch with my new found favorite - the flat out wrap! And of course  my water:thumbsup2

So someone spank my hand when I reach for that French Fry! Oh, and speaking of spanking- if I had a hunky trainer dude I wouldnt mind a little motivation ;) (hope that wasnt out of line- JK you know!)

You can do it!!:cool1: You will be so proud of yourself for it too! I had a Flat Out pizza last night. So good!!:woohoo:

Thank you everyone for your prayers for Joshua. I think that we are at then end and are beginning to see some light. He has been on meds since Sunday night and he is much, much improved. Now we are working on getting him to sleep again by himself. He cried only for 1.4 hours at bedtime last night and then woke again around 3:00. I let him cry it out after I checked the video monitor to make sure all was well.

More news--DD plays rec. soccer and we had city tournament this weekend--well was supposed to be but because of rain we played one game Friday night and won. We played last night and won as well. Tonight we play for 1st place. Then this weekend we start District Games--we will play 2 soccer games on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. Hopefully they will do well and we can go to state. Last nights game was very close 0-0 until the last 5 minutes of the game. DD plays defender --she gt the ball and made a run up the line and went past mid field. She passed the ball off and the two that got it scored. I was so pround of her--she did not realize that she made the goal possible. We went on to score one more goal to win 2-0.

I go see the Dr. today and should be able to the heartbeat  I hope that everyone has a great day.
.

I am glad to hear that your son is doing better. :thumbsup2 That is awesome about your daughter! :cheer2:

I need help! Tomorrow is weigh in at WW, and I am retaining water like crazy. My ankles look kind of elephantish. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of the extra water by tomorrow?

I'm not sure if it is true but I have heard that drinking water can flush out your system of the excess it is holding on to. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. :confused3

Hi Peeps!:goodvibes I hope that everyone is having a good day. I have stayed within my points today and I have the rest of meals and snacks planned out (I have to have something to munch on during Idol:happytv: ). It is gorgeous outside today! It finally feels like spring.:flower3:

I thought it might be helpful if everyone could post their top five foods that help them to stay on track. Mine would be:

1.Walmart Sugar Free Drink Mix (cherry, orange, apple)
2.Boca/Morningstar products(corn dogs, chicken patties, burgers)
3.Light String Cheese
4.Fiber One Chocolate Oat bars
5.Light English muffins (1pt)

4. Applegate farms chicken hot dogs
5.Guilt Free butter pecan ice cream bars:woohoo:

Thanks everyone for the ideas on my bloaty ankles. I am going to try everything everyone suggested ( except maybe th beer since I have a meeting at my church with our priest and Religious education leaders from all over town, drinking a couple of beers would at least make the meeting more interesting:rotfl: .) I will let you know how it works out. Thanks peeps!!!

Hi All!

I'm slowly coming out of lurkdom here. :cool2:

I feel like I 'know' many of you from other threads and the roughly 500 pages I've tried to read here (OK, I confess, I'm lost on a lot, but I am trying to keep up) popcorn::

What I do know is that I love all things Disney, we trek to the World to donate all of our cash to the mouse at least twice a year, AND I have weight to lose. Lots of it. So I really enjoy hanging out here.

I've been on South Beach since January of 2006, lost 30 pounds, but have plateaued and am rather discouraged about it. And when I say plateaued, I'm talking 6 months now. I really believe in the program - my eating habits have changed considerably and I no longer wander into the kitchen to stare into the fridge for no apparent reason. Cravings are gone and I feel great about the things I do eat.

BUT - I still have at least 50 pounds  to lose and can't seem to get the scale to budge.:sad2:

I'm self-employed (I was a graphic designer for 15 years before my company decided to move to Austin TX. Now I'm a conference planner but still do all of my own marketing.) I live in front of my computer. :surfweb: Occasionally I actually do work (This DIS thing sure does infiltrate your life, doesn't it?? Don't you wish we could use smilies in real-life emails? :rolleyes1 )

Here is my top 5

1. imagine organic creamy tomato soup
2. WW sweet and salty bars
3. Kashi go lean cereal
4. Applegate farms chicken hot dogs
5.Guilt Free butter pecan ice cream bars:woohoo:

This sounds like fun. Mind if I play too?

1. Tomato juice (not for those with bloaty ankles.) (Sorry, Mariann :sad2: )
2. South Beach Diet Bars - Maple Nut, Nut Creations and my favorite: Peanut Butter. I sprinkle the top of the PB ones with about 10 dark chocolate chips and zap for 10 seconds. Voila - one gooey peanut butter and chocolate mess. Great with half of a sliced banana. (And yes, I use a fork. Too adventurous for me to try to eat with my fingers.)
3. Wasabi Soy Almonds :p
4. Light String Cheese with Low Fat Triscuits. Great heated.
5. Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper :cool1:

Finally, to those who have just been as profoundly affected by the events of the last 24 hours as I have, my prayers are with you -

:grouphug:

I have four daughters, all living away from home, three on college campuses. I sent 'hugs' to all today. Not one accused me of being a dorky mom. (Now that was a first!)

Welcome to this end of the Dis! I know you'll get rid of the weight!:yay:

Just popping in to check in while dinner is cooking....

hear ye hear ye!!! someone still looking for a roomie for the peep meet, i believe a new peep maybe interested.
We dont need another roomate per se, but we can accomodate one if sharing beds is not an issue. You can PM me if you want to, or the mysterious peep who may be interested can :rotfl:

I need help! Tomorrow is weigh in at WW, and I am retaining water like crazy. My ankles look kind of elephantish. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of the extra water by tomorrow?
Stay far away from salt, and drink tons of water. I have yet to try the lemon water trick but it cant hurt. I was told the best thing to do is keep drinking water.

Long day here today. I was good for breakfast, had my WW smoothie. But lunch was on the run...Burger King, ick. It has been forever since I have gone there and now I know why. I feel bloated and sick still. And then, because I wasnt feeling fat enough, I went shopping. I have to find a strapless bra for my sisters wedding in june. I hate those things and can NEVER find one that will support me and not become a belt within a few hours. What a fun day! the dresses are super pretty, so I am excited about that. It came last week and I was psyched because it fit, and may be a bit big!!! :woohoo:

WELCOME KARENELL

so glad you peeped in, and introduced yourself... when I first saw your post, I thought I must've missed your intro, :hippie:

Yep, I'm a dork too (didya see what I had ds do on his birthday at roadhouse? :rotfl2: what a good kid!!) I called my boys.. just to say hi and I loves ya!! I love hearing when my boys say it out loud "I love you too Mom" it brings tears to my eyes sometimes... like yesterday... and its hard to read Aldisney's sig too...(the one in memory of MJ a Dis'er who passed away unexpectantly, and too young!!)

I posted again a new survey on DisMeet thread!!

Beka - Thanks for the link. I've been on obesityhelp before (it's one of the requirements of my aftercare), but I like my DIS friends better. :) I read your blog - congrats on the body fat %!! And your fajita story is scary as all get out. What do you think caused it? Just the beef itself being too hard to digest? I haven't tried beef yet, but I'm not really craving it yet either.

OH is great for WLS related questions, but I like this board better too! Nothing like some weight loss with Mickey Ears on, right?

I think the fajita incident was a mixture of too-tough meat, and a too tough tortilla. It went down fine the day before. I tend to stick to ground meats and fish. Rarely some pulled pork. (I don't dump much off fats, just sugar. Sometimes a combo of both.)

Have you measured yourself? If you ever hit a stall, just measure yourself, and you'll see the inches come off. I swear I'm the same size I was a Christmas, but I've gone from a kind-of snug 14 to an 8. :confused3 My mind plays tricks on me!

Have you found a protein you like yet? I have some suggestions if you haven't!:cheer2: Dang I'm happy for you!!!

Did you have open or lap? RNY or the band? Or something else? I could talk all day about WLS!! Good thing, since I want to be a bariatric coordinator and am going back to school to get my RN!!

************

Well guys, I miss my pilates class tonight. WE had a meeting today at work. It's been a crazy day. (I schedule MRIs for our clinic) Our MRI tech just moved his mom down here to a town about 20-30 min drive away (so she's safer from the hurricanes I guess). HE couldn't reach her for 2 days, and send someone over to her house, and they found she had passed away. :sad1: So I had to reschedule all of today's patients, and reschedule Thursday and Friday. I was really looking forward to pilates! Oh well, I'll drag DH to the gym and hit the treadmill for a while.

aaack No ciggies! We need to get HEALTHY!!! (and why is it beer adds weight faster than chocolate??)

Ok I'm a dork for knowing this. Chocolate has sugar in it right?
Sugar = Carbohydrates
Carbs = 4 calories per gram

Alcohol = 7 calories per gram

Fat = 9 calories per gram.

Alcohol is almost as high as fat! Yikes!!

Well I did 75 sit ups and I feel like someone set my tummy on fire!
I had to wait 15 min til I did the rest
Maybe I need to add the denise austin tummy stuff to my routine

does anyone take spinning?
I was thinking of doing this.

Spinning will kill some MAJOR calories! I personally hate the bike, and the seat leaves MY seat... well... let's just say that I didn't realize that part of me could hurt for so long...

I love doing abs! Great challenge!

Dene good observation, I had a health teacher that said Aunt Flo and the cycles of the moon were what "pulled" it out of us!! :rotfl2: Now AF doesnt visit (thanks to an obgyn) but PMS does11 :rotfl2:

Or add some weights to that crunch!! One that i find horribly hard is to lay flat on your back... lift your knees and your toes are pointed (how to describe knees up - legs parallel?? does that make sense?) So you want your knees and crunch up, then realease but dont let your feet drop, just have your elbows come up to your knees, then relax... I can only do about 25 of those...

Then I take (still on your back!) and lift my feet straight up (now perpindicular) One L shape - that's easy, now come up slowly hands on the side and up lift and relax, only dont lay all the way down, just short crunches... and fast - you can easily do 100 of these.... THEN when your abs are strong, lower one leg about 1 foot off the ground, and the other leg straight UP now hands still at the side (again off the floor but move forward and back fast...) I can do maybe ten this way!!

The ones that kill me... lay flat on your back, plant your low back in the ground to protect it (means you gotta suck that tummy in BIG time!) bring your shoulders off the ground, and your legs up, makes you have like a teardrop shape I guess...
o/_| something like that. Now, lower the left arm to a hover and your right leg to a hover , bring 'em both up at the same time and switch (right arm, and left leg).

Also, a reverse crunch makes me sweat like a  in church!

Start lying on the ground, now prop yourself up on your arms
O
|_\_/\_ (this is my sad little illustration)

Now using your abs, draw your legs (together, toes pointed - strong legs!) toward your chest and inhale. Exhale as you push your legs out, barely touching your toes to the ground (like you're drawing a like with your toes).

You can shift your weight to the left or right to work your obliques.

Clear as mud?:thumbsup2

2) Protein Drink
3) Pure Protein bars
4) Milk (is that food?)
5) Fish! I love it!

OH! How could I forget soy pasta?!? It's good too!

IF you would consider a Birthday Party Sept 25 at "1900 Park fair" (which is closed but the buffet and characters do appear at the Grand Floridian's other cafe area during refurbishment)

PLEASE go to the DisMeet thread and give me a tally (I need to know how many and ages of children under 18 - or if you'd prefer a different day...)

gaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!! i hate that i haven't been able to keep up with you guys lately! this trial is KILLING me! i think we should be done by friday. that means it will have taken 2 full weeks. the attorneys estimated one week. but i've learned through this job that "attorney time" and "real world time" are completely different things! (sorry pixie - i'm sure you're the exception to the rule!)

and this has really thrown a wrench in my workouts! i just don't have the time or the motivation to go to the gym after 9 hours of takedown in one day and it's really frustrating b/c i actually LOVE working out. i'm still trying to eat well, though. i'm sure i'll get back on track next week. :confused3

anyway, hugs, pixie dust and prayers to all that need it. i hope no one had any family or friends at virginia tech. my heart is going out to those people.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I ended up not going out today. This morning I had a little cold and now I have a big cold. I feel crummy. Not much appetite though:thumbsup2

Only had a slice of pizza and some cereal today.

Just got up to eat some more cold tablets- then back to bed.

I'm gonna have to ask for an excuse on the situps today. I'll do make up work- although forceful coughing does cause you to contract your stomach muscles- so maybe a few of those can count.

Going back to bed now:sick:

Just got back from soccer and we came in second place. The team we played was the hardest in the league. THey did get medals and they are soooo cute. We play in district this weekend. Hope everyone has a great night and good day tomorrow.

Heard the heartbeat and it was 159 beats per minute. Hopefully it is a boy--we will find out in June.

Hope your trial ends soon. The one I am following should wrap up at the end of the week too. Please pray that the jury makes the right decision.

There must be something in the Alabama air because I feel  too. I was sure last night that I wouldn't be able to make it to work today, but remarkably I woke up feeling some better. I want to be better tomorrow because it is my birthday, and I don't want to be sick on my birthday. :sad2:

Hope you feel better soon.
