THEN i notice that sherman has this gigantic bump on his head that's bleeding! :sad2: i put peroxide on it and it started fizzing like crazy. i decided to take him to the vet because i just wasn't sure what it was.....my 3rd vet visit in the last two weeks! the vet said it was a wart (ewwww) that he's somehow either hit or scratched because it's bruised and swollen and bleeding. he gave me a topical solution to put on it and told me to put anti-perspirant around it so that eli wouldn't lick it. so now sherman has a spikey-waxy-gunkified-deodorant-caked hairdo around his gigantic wart! yuck!!! :scared: the vet said that since sherman is getting older these little growths may start popping up and that it's probably been there for awhile....we just didn't notice it until it started swelling and bleeding.

so...how was everyone else's day? :rolleyes1
:rotfl2: I am sorry, but that is funny==makes me think of grimlens.

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!

Heather....How's Christi??? Is Ryan home? How's the baby?

HAVE A GREAT DAY, ONE AND ALL!

Ryan is doing great!!! He went back to school and is having a great time. His fisrst thing to do when he got home was to get on his bike and ride.

Rebekah is doing great. She is off the bili blanket, but still yellow. Sleeping thorugh most of the night--hopefully this is not a fluke.

Chrsit is doing the same. Still have not heard from Mayo clinic about what kind of tumor it is. She is still on a vent and they are now not sure when she will get off of it--there are many times when she falls into a deep sleep and forgets to breathe. As soon as I hear new information I will let you guys know.

Craig just called and he is bringing Joshua back home--he got sick in the car on the way to school---It is going to be a long day here. I better go so I can wash the car seat when they get home.

Good morning all!!

I've been a missing/lax peep for the past couple of weeks (thanks for noticing Melinda). Let me tell you what's been going on -- work has been crazy hectic and my laptop has been on the fritz (have one bug worked out, but that only revealed another perhaps more significant problem -- just an FYI, XP doesn't have a "Blue Screen of Death" it just shuts down and restarts with no notice. I have successfully gotten it to stop shutting down every 14 minutes and increased the time to 30 minutes. Now must find out what is causing this new randomness-- I hate windows)...

So anyhoo, the past two weeks I've been working on maintaining my 53 lb. loss. I know that I have a tendancy to get over obsessed on weight loss and calories to the point of bordering on eating disorder (I'm positive that I had one my freshman year of college, undiagnosed -- as soon as the stressor went away, I started to eat again) and I was noticing a tendancy to become too focused on keeping my calories low. Plus things were getting crazy at work and when I can't control one part of my life, I start to try to control the food (either binging or not eating)...you know where I'm going. Well I can proudly say that I recognized the signs and decided to take a break from dieting and focus on eating healthy foods and on maintaining. This gave my body a break and a chance to catch up to the loss I had achieved and my mind some time off of weight loss to focus on other things (like work -- ughh).

I'm ready to get back on the treadmill (so to speak) and start losing again. I'm commiting to a minimum of 1300 calories (max around 1550 on a non-"cheat" day), 30 minutes of walking, muscle toning exercises, and 125 crunches EVERY DAY. I will also take my vitamins, flax seed oil, calcium, and fiber religiously!!

Some exciting news -- during the past two weeks, I realized that I've brought my BMI down 10 points since April. I also bought some new clothes -- (I'm being brave here and putting this out there) I started in a tight size 26 and am now, for the most part, buying 16's and 18's.

(Side, side note: I went to my local Liz Claiborne outlet on Friday. They went from a retail outlet to a warehouse outlet over night (and didn't advertise it). I got 4 pair of work pants, 3 pair of comfy/workout pants, 2 work sweaters, and 2 long sleeve t-shirts for $100. Could have gotten winter jackets for $30 and blazers for $20, but I don't need them right now and don't want to waste my $$).

I've been trying to catch-up on posts, but I think it may be a futile process. So -- welcome back to the traveling peeps, whoo hooties to those with successes and celebrations (including new peeplets!!), welcome to the newbies, and prayers/hugs for all who need them.

I promise to check in more this week. I love my peeps and would never have come this far without all of you.

To 53 lbs down!! and a new start!

Smiles!

Hi everyone,

And I have one more to add to the list. Man, when it rains it pours right? While talking to DB this afternoon, he told me that his father in law (DSIL's dad) had a heart attack yesterday afternoon. He is stable and in the hospital and they put a stint (or shunt?) in. But this is his 3rd or 4th heart attack in about 7-10 years. So definitely not good (not that one heart attack is good). He lives down here as well. About 10 minutes from my house actually. Anyway, add him to the prayers and pixie dust list please.

Thanks Peeps! You're the best!
 What a true statement, when it rains it does Pour!

wow.....where are all the peeps lately???

Poor Sherman! That does not sound like something fun to have, or see for that matter! I hope it heals up quickly for the poor baby! Speaking of dogs,
Chief ( our black lab) had me up all night last night with his weird "dreaming"..i swear he chases squirrels in the night, all i hear are muffled "woof woof ruff" and the scurry of his little feet kicking on his dog bed. Then of course i got worried when he was totally quiet and made him come up on the bed with me..( greg was at the station)..i think that was chief's ploy to snuggle..sneaky boy:sad2:
Hope everyone has a great day...:)

What kind of laptop do you have? We had an HP that finally died this past weekend... if you have a warranty, I would recommend calling. Although, first I would try reinstalling Windows if you have the disk... it could also be a RAM problem. Laptops are so hard to troubleshoot! Ours we are pretty sure the motherboard went (again, this is the 5th time), and since it was 2 weeks out of warranty, it is relegated to the dead pile and we had to buy a new one.

Congrats on the 53 lbs!! I am a bit like you in that I tend toward over-obsessed... I am either completely controlling on my diet/exercise, or totally let it go to heck. I wish I could find a happy medium... it sounds like you are well on your way!!

Great job on the shopping!! I was happy with my clearance rack at Belk, but yours blows mine away.

Hopefully this week will be better than last week, and no tires will blow, and no laptops will die. Although I had a coworker whose next-door-neighbor's child shot an ARROW into their A/C, I can't top that one!!

I Got My Meds!!! :cool1:

I had DH pick up the meds yesterday, since he was out early yesterday. Took one last night and one this morning to get them back in my system. Thank-you for pushing me yesterday and stating the obvious. It's amazing how fast your thyroid goes back when you aren't taking the meds. But, now I am!!

Tara...Sorry about your dog. My Winnie had those warts all over her, as she was 14yo. They can get gross, sometimes oozing white "stuff". :scared: Nothing you can do about it, but they aren't pretty by any means.

Prayers for all those that have asked for them. :cloud9:

Definitely going to do Turbo Jam tonight. This body needs the exercise! I need to get conditioned for Disney! :woohoo:

The darn thing is a Dell with a super-de-duper 4 year "at home" warranty. Only when I call them, they make me do all the trouble shooting with an overly polite, often incompetent CSR telling me what I need to do. I had the same problem 6 months ago. It took multiple phone calls of multiple hours, a live tech coming to replace my mother board (unnecessarily as it turns out), me tearing apart my computer (on their say-so), much frustration and repetition of the phrase " and exactly how would I do that," and Dell calling me back to check on the status -- Greg in Canada and I got to be good friends -- to finally resolve the problem. Basically we never did figure out what was wrong, but when I finally got "Eric" to help me (nice guy, didn't make me go through all of the crap the others did and believed me when I said that this was an actual problem) he updated my system bios and all was good for 6 months. He also sent me my windows cd (as they don't give you those unless you have a problem).

All was well until a few weeks ago, but I didn't have time to research it until yesterday. Well turns out there is a problem with one of the time servers that microsoft uses and if you turn off the sync time to internet server option, you stop shutting down every 15 minutes (figured this out with some googling and the event viewer last night). My newest problem happens after 30 mintues of activity and I think has to do with the McAffee software I have installed. SO tonight we uninstall and reinstall and hope not to get a virus in the process. If that doesn't work, I'll be back on with my friends at Dell. Although I am tempted to take it to a local computer guru and let him trouble shoot and only call dell if it is a hardware issue.

Any way... I don't think it's a hardware problem... although it could be, but at least I can dis for a few minutes before it goes kerflunky.!!! Thanks for the advice1

Hey Peeps! I am back from my trip. :sad1: We got home Sunday evening. I'm back at work. Doesn't reality just suck sometimes? Anywho, we had a great time, met a LOT of DISers, and we are worn out.

We have laundry to do (started last night, but ran out of detergent), suitcases to unpack, and new stuff to put away (I've started this process.).

I have a few more pictures to upload off the memory cards, and I have added graphics to my Photopass photos. Although when I click on a couple of the pictures, it looks like I'm missing a graphic in the spot off to the right where you choose one. Anyone else have this problem? :confused3 I think it was on the ones of us in front of the food and wine festival signs and the ones of Melinda and I in France. There's a blank square before the squares that have graphics in them. It happened on the Remy & Emile pictures the night before last, but when I logged on last night, their autographs showed up in those spots. I will log on again tonight and see what I find. Just don't want to miss out if there is supposed to be something there. But I also want to order my CD tonight if possible. We'll see, I guess.

I am slowly getting back onto the wagon. Yesterday when I came back to work, they were having a food day and brought in BBQ for lunch. I am trying to be better today. Not perfect, but better. Then, I'd like to be back on track tomorrow completely! I also need to get back on the bike, but it will probably be Thursday before I can do that. I will be running Jasper through the agility course this evening (So I'll be getting some activity there!), and tomorrow my friend is coming over to order more pictures. I NEED to get back on track too because the numbers on the scale aren't pretty! I'm hoping there's a lot of water retention going on. So I'm drinking a lot of water. And I'll be taking this week off from weigh in (for my sanity). I hope to report prettier numbers next week.

So, how is everyone doing??? I missed you all! I read some while gone, and I read the last couple of pages. I'm sending :wizard: , , and prayers to those in need. Congrats on the new Peeplet Heather! :cheer2:

Way to go on the weight loss and isn't it exciting to get new clothes. That was a great deal that you got. I so inderstand about the compulsiveness of the weight. I tend to obsess over things as well and when i am really trying to lose weight that is all I can focus on and that is not a good thing. A couple of years ago I lost around 40 pounds and it got to the point where DH was making sure that I was eating. I was doing the diet pill thing and WW --but it just consumed my life. Then we found out we were expecting Joshua --last year I lost 20 pounds and then we foiund out I was expecting Rebekah. I told DH I could not go back to dieting until he was fixed :rotfl2: since me dieting equated to another kid :rotfl2:

UPDATE ON CHRISTI----yesterday was a very emotional day for her DH--she has just been sleeping a lot here lately so when he would actually get in to see her she was asleep or very lethargic. Well last night she didher best to communicate to him without being able to talk. It just gave him so much hope. I just got got a phone call about 10 minutes ago that they have taken her off the vent. and she is doing well. She even SPOKE!!! Praise GOD!! They still have a long road to travel, but from going from we don't expect her to make it out if surgery to her speaking WOW!! She is no longer in critical condition but what they call guarded condition--not sure what that is--she should be in ICU for at least another 10 days if not longer. They are trying to get her left side stronger. Still have not heard from MAYO CLINIC.

RYAN is coming to visit this weekend :cool1: His dad wanted a weekend to rest, but Ryan was persistant that he come and visit his Hattiesburg family. Gotta love that kid. I am soooo excited to get to see him this weekend.

Well I need to go. Have a good one.

Good morning all. I got to the office on time this morning so I know it's going to be a great day. I'm still sending out my pixie dust to all who need it.

Thanks for noticing I'm not nekkid anymore. I did try to pick a thin avatar so that it wouldn't add much weight onto me. I'm obsessed with those scales.

Way back in the day, I was in the Air Force. I loved it, I was a law clerk for the defense attorneys and it was very interesting. Anyway.....I gained a lot of weight when I joined up. I'd never been exposed to all of those yummy high carb, high fat foods before and I loaded up and paid for it. So the Air Force put me on the "Fat Boy" program. That's what they called it, even for us women. And for further encouragement, they had us do our weigh-ins in the hospital lunchroom at lunch time. They would line us up like cattle and then bark our weight out for the diners viewing pleasure. Very humiliating (I became anorexic after this--gee, I wonder why). I would stand in that line and be stripping off every extra item I had on (bobbie pins, my beret, my name tag, etc) to try to get that weight down an extra ounce or two. It's a habit that stuck with me through all of these years!!!!

TMI, I'm sure. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

so let me tell you about the day i've had...:scared:
WOW, what a day!!! I will fill you in on mine in a bit. Pretty bad here too:rolleyes:

Some exciting news -- during the past two weeks, I realized that I've brought my BMI down 10 points since April. I also bought some new clothes -- (I'm being brave here and putting this out there) I started in a tight size 26 and am now, for the most part, buying 16's and 18's.

Great news on the BMI! And I feel for you on the computer stuff. I have been having a few issues here too. I have become fast friends witht he #800 techs, and it has been a waste of time really.

I have a few more pictures to upload off the memory cards, and I have added graphics to my Photopass photos. Welcome home! The same things was happening to the photoapss site with me the other day too. Weird.

Well I need to go. Have a good one.
That is so encouraging! I bet the family is thrilled.

Pixie dust and continued prayers to all that need them. I know I must have missed a few along the way

got a busy day today only 10 more days before our trip . but wanted to jump on and say hi"
i will have to catch up on post a lil later
Prayers to those who need them
everyone have a good day..
(Shameless Plug) Go read UtahMama's TR if you have not already :goodvibes

I wasnt going to come here and ramble...but I had a horrific day yesterday. As most of you know I babysit some kids in my home during the day. Well, one of them just turned 5 and she has been such a difficult kid pretty much since the beginning of when I started watching her 6 weeks ago. Her mom and I are at a loss as to what to do next, but Friday was bad and yesterday was worse. So bad in fact she had to leave work to come get her because I was terrified of her (YES, I know...she is only 5!!) and is keeping her home for the next few days until we can be sure she can control herself.

To give you an idea: Yesterday, she tried (unsuccessfully, thank goodness) to kick me in my belly 3 times but did manage to get me in my arms and legs. When she missed my stomach, which was her goal I am sure because she knows I am pregnant, she went after my sister (who comes to help me and teaches the older kids some preschool) and she got her in the back and in the chin. My sister then had to sit on the floor and hold her arms and legs from behind (kind of by giving her a big hug if you know what I mean) so she wouldnt hurt anyone or herself until her mom got there. Her mom is going to part time status starting next week but I dont know that it will help this or not. And she knows I cant continue to have her come here and act like this. I have seen Amanda start to mimic things she does and it makes me very scared to think she is being influenced by her so much.

Her behavior is worse than I have ever seen in the over 10+ yrs I have been watching kids. (And I have had some doozies over the years.) I have NEVER met such a smart mouthed, rude, disrespectful 5 yr old in my life. In recent weeks they have taken away all her toys and even taken her door off her room....she seemes uneffected. I dont even think Supernanny can help this kid, it is far worse than anything I have ever seen her deal with. I really feel for the mom because she took her to a therapist a yr or so ago and they said she was 'normal'. This is so not normal guys. I am exhausted just thinking what they go through at home.

Sorry for rambling, but it has been a rough few weeks. At least the next few days will be quiet for me:rotfl:

Wow Pakey, that would be utterly humiliating!! It is bad enough to know the number myself.

Dance, how awful... so glad that she didn't hurt you or your baby, though! I hope that the situation works out for both you and her mom.

MJ, hope they resolve your laptop situation, sounds like a nightmare! I know all the trouble that we had trying to get HP to replace our motherboard. I write software for a living and DH has run a side business in building and configuring computers as well as worked as PC tech support for 2 yrs (before getting utterly sick of it), so having to go through all their stupid do-this, do-that, plug-it-in, restart, definitely gets old for us!

I somehow missed the ooky dog story... thankfully I haven't started eating lunch yet!!

All is well with the tire, it was put on this morning (for $20), and we are back in business. Yay for craigslist and a $15 tire!

All I can say is WOW!! That is not something that you should have to deal with. Hopefully things will get straightened out and mom can get some help for her child.

My sister has a lump on her thyroid and is scheduled for a biopsy next week. Thyroid cancer is what my brother survived and has led to all of his other problems, so it's a little scary.

Well, since you asked: The rats I heard on Friday got into the classroom over the weekend, ate a book, parts of our alphabet, my partner's photo of her daughter, and various other items in the room. We were afraid to have the kids in there, so we each had to take our "show" on the road. We went to a neighboring classroom to teach. I forgot some stuff I needed to test one little boy who hasn't been there every time I have been testing, but who was there today. The exterminator came and said he thinks it's many mice, because he only sees little droppings, but our custodian saw one peek through the hole in the ceiling, and he said for sure it was a rat. It's creepy and disgusting, and I'm tempted to take one of our neighborhood cats (ours is too much of a wimp) to hunt these critters down.

Wish me luck that the traps have been successful. Have a terrific Tuesday!

good luck with your sister's situation. my best friend's sister had to have a bit of her thyroid moved a few years ago and is doing great now...hope it all turns out okay! :goodvibes

and rats????? yuck! good luck with that!

Punkin....Poor poopies! I'm glad Sherman's gonna be OK. (dogs and kids...so expensive!) ;) I hope you are never called upon to type up that trial! We forgot and left our nearly 16 year old doggie who is confined to the back room of our house. Bless her heart there were accidents to clean up. :sad2:

i'm just glad eli didn't bust open his dog food bag. he's been known to do that!

I was thinking nekkid? what the heck did I post last night?

:lmao:

Good morning all!!

I've been a missing/lax peep for the past couple of weeks (thanks for noticing Melinda).

hi, MJ!!! sounds like you're doing well and have a good attitude. congrats on the BMI! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a great day...:)

sherman does that, too, and it's so sweet! until he wakes me up (he sleeps at the foot of the bed) and then i have to start kicking him to wake him up so he stops dreaming! i have a friend who has a black lab named chief, too! but they're from kansas city and her husband's a huge football fan, so that's why.

Hey Peeps! I am back from my trip. :sad1:

welcome home!!!! :flower3:

Thanks for noticing I'm not nekkid anymore. I did try to pick a thin avatar so that it wouldn't add much weight onto me. I'm obsessed with those scales.

:rotfl2: you're cracking me up today!

got a busy day today only 10 more days before our trip . but wanted to jump on and say hi"
i will have to catch up on post a lil later
Prayers to those who need them
everyone have a good day..
(Shameless Plug) Go read UtahMama's TR if you have not already :goodvibes

:yay: your trip is so close!!!

i can't get the link to work to UM's TR!

I wasnt going to come here and ramble...but I had a horrific day yesterday.

i'm no expert, but it sounds to me like that's more than just bratty behavior. maybe something mental is going on? either way, it's time to move along when she's physically trying to harm you and your baby! hope it all works out soon!

We are very close to 20,000 posts!!!:cool1: I am looking at allears to see how I can do the trip in June cheap. Looking at the cheaper places to eat. Which are your fav. counter service places?

i've only been twice in my adult life, but so far my favs are wolfgang puck express, casey's, sunshine seasons and tusker house. although i think they're making tusker house into a TS restaurant? :confused3 oh, and last trip we tried flame tree BBQ and it was good too. although the ducks were not fun for me....i have a phobia of birds!

Hey Peeps! I am back from my trip. :sad1: We got home Sunday evening. I'm back at work. Doesn't reality just suck sometimes? Anywho, we had a great time, met a LOT of DISers, and we are worn out.
Welcome back!! We missed you..and can't wait to read about your trip! :)

WOW!!! That is scary behavior..i really hope her mother gets her the help she needs..i agree with Dawn, that sounds more serious than just bratty behavior...

:confused3 oh, and last trip we tried flame tree BBQ and it was good too. although the ducks were not fun for me....i have a phobia of birds!

Ducks don't bother me too much ut other birds FREAK me out. I especially hate when they line up on the phone lines and just sit there...i swear they are planning on dive bombing at that point...yuck. heebie jeebies i tell ya!

am i correct in thinking that if we're on the DDP, that ends at midnight on the day of checkout? so if i'm checking out on a friday morning, i can use my DDP points until midnight on friday, right?
