Why are guys like this??? It's like he sensed you were pulling away, and nooo, he still wanted a little attention. On his terms. Guys are definitely from Mars. How is matchbook working ? After reading some of your other posts, I told my friend she should give it a try. She hasn't been in the "dating" scene in quite some time. Where does someone go to meet a nice man? Really feeling a loss here that I can't help her. Where ARE nice men looking for nice women nowadays? Anyone? There needs to be a niceman.com registry. Maybe have some sort of qualifiers, like recommendations from x amount of females, a doctor's note stating sound mental health, stamp of approval from the boss, you know, all the good stuff. Really though, I would like to give her some ideas  , if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to pass them on.

Thanks...that is exactly what I thought! He knew I have been avoiding him and not giving him attention and he missed it. Well he can either have all of me all the time or none of me.

I have no idea where to meet men. My match subscription ran out a couple weeks ago and I didn't re-new. I was emailing a guy for a couple weeks and then they stopped :confused3 . I'm also on eharmony and I think I annoyed when guy when I said I don't go out clubbing every night and getting wasted isn't a priority for me. Again :confused3 . I'm also chatting with another guy from eharmony but he stinks at writing emails/sharing info, etc. Like from my huge 3 paragraph email where I share things and ask questions, he will comment on 1 thing and nothing else. And I'm not quite ready to chat on the phone.

so my friend amanda (who's also a photographer) took pics of me, my sister and my brother for my dad and my ex-stepmom (who is also my sister and brother's mom) for christmas. just thought i would share these. give me your opinions on which ones you like!

Just took a quick glimpse but didn't get numbers. I really like the black and white ones. And the pics that are zoomed in more.

I went for my 6 week check up this morning. The scales said I lost 30 pounds since just before I had her. I jsut had to tell some peeps.

That's great! :woohoo:

Shannon and HopingGina I was married to a real jerk once upon a time. He left me and our 2 year old son for a college student who was 15 years younger than him. He also cleaned out the bank accounts before telling me he was leaving. And he's never had an interest in his son (who is now 26). But for every jerk out there, there's a nice guy waiting to take his place. I've been married for 23 years to the greatest guy on the planet. Don't get discouraged and don't settle for anyone who isn't going to treat you like the princesses you are!!!

Thanks for the encouraging words. It comes and goes with me. There are days, weeks and months that I am perfectly fine being single. And then there are times when I really want a boyfriend and wonder if I will ever find someone and get married. I seem to be in one of those phases lately.

Has anyone seen Jen/Dance lately? She hasn't been on here much that I've noticed. :confused3

I forget if I've mentioned it or not, but I'm getting my hair cut and colored on Thursday. Getting rid of all the blonde and going natural. And I'm thinking of shaking things up a bit. Here is a pic of what I'm looking for - Rory from Gilmore Girls (the girl on the right). My hair is not quite this long yet but still past the shoulders.

Shannon, sorry about your boy situation. Online dating is a pain. I met a few nice ones that way, but mostly they were :scared1: .

pigget, hope your household gets better soon!

Okay, I have another recipe... This was dinner last night and leftover lunch today.

Shepherd's pie:
1 lb 96% lean hamburger (580 cals, 18 g fat)
1 chopped onion
1 jar mushrooms (30 cals)
1 can beef gravy (125 cals, 3.5 g fat)
1 can sweet kernel corn (150 cals, 2.5 g fat)
4 servings mashed potatoes, made w/out butter or milk (320 cals, 0 g fat)
1/8 cup shredded 2% milk cheddar (40 cals)

Pan fry hamburger (teflon pan w/ a bit of cooking spray) w/ chopped onions
Spray down casserole w/ some cooking spray, add cooked hamburger
Add can of gravy and mix
Add layer of corn
Add layer of mashed potatoes (make them before hand)
Sprinkle cheese on top
Bake at 350 for 20 min or so

Total for entire thing: 1245 calories, 24 g fat. I get 4 servings out of it, YMMV.

You could also add celery and carrots if you wanted into the gravy/hamburger/onion mixture, I hate carrots and I don't usually have celery so I pass.

My name is Allie. I live in AL, but I grew up outside of Atlanta. My parents still live in the house I grew up in. It was a great place to live, but the Olympics showed the world what a great town it was, and they ALL decided to move there! ;) :rotfl: DH's family lives close by here, so this was a good move for us. A smaller town to raise our kids in.

I am 39 years old and have been married to DH for 18 years. I have a DS (14) and DD (9). I also have two dogs, Shadow and Trixie. They are both rescue dogs. Shadow is a Border Collie/terrier mix. Trixie is a Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix. Those of you who were around in Jan. should remember that she locked me out of my car, while pumping gas! :rolleyes1

I am a helper at my church's preschool program. I help the 4 year old class. I help the kids go potty, do crafts, etc. I love this job! It is only 4 hours a day, three days a week. It is a perfect part time job. I am also the 4 year old Sunday school teacher.

I did WW when DD was about one. I lost 28 lbs., and became a lifetime member. Well I have gained that weight back, lost it again, and gained it again plus some. I joined WW again in August. So far I have lost 13.5 lbs. I was a skinny minnie growing up. My grandfather used to tell me that I would only need two dr's growing up, a skin doctor and a bone doctor. Well, that isn't the case now.:sad2: You have all been an inspiration to me. I am not perfect, but I am trying. I know I don't have as much weight to lose as some, but I am struggling right along with you. We can do this together.:cheer2:

Oh, I know some of y'all wrote what you liked to watch on TV. Well, I have Tivo (love that invention), and I watch a lot of reality shows. I love Survivor, Amazing Race (I want to do this with one of my former coworkers), and American Idol. I also watch ER, Two and a Half Men, Cold Case, CSI (the original one), and anything on Court TV. I also LOVE the Dog Whisperer. I strive to be the leader of my Pack. I don't think Cesar would be to happy with me since my dog locked me out of my car. :rotfl: DH and I went to go see him in person. He is AMAZING!

I enjoy watching my kids play in their sports. DS played hockey for six years and this year he decided he wanted to try basketball. :sad1: I miss going to the rink but I don't miss the price. He is currently 6'1", so I guess basketball is a better sport for him. I STILL LOVE HOCKEY!!!! Jaromir Jagr would be my freebie!

DD is a softball player. She has also started piano lessons, and has her first recital in Dec. Our music teacher at preschool is her piano teacher. She is enjoying it. We scored a free piano this summer when my neighbors moved out of their house. :thumbsup2 I am also a room mom for DD's class at school. I volunteer there in my spare time.

I have enjoyed getting to know the rest of you PEEPS! Please help me stay on the wagon.

Oh just an interesting tidbit, my best friend in the whole world has my very same birthday! I met her here in AL, and our kids are the same age, and we are so much alike. Well, at least I won't have to turn 40 alone! DD and I are celebrating my birthday early next year by doing the 5k in Jan. It iwill be a mom/daughter ONLY trip. We are looking forward to it.

Ok, I guess this has gone long enough. I also love to talk! Can ya' tell? ;) :rotfl: Oh yeah, no pics because I am photobucket challenged. :sad2:

pigget - i thought i quoted you but i guess not! congrats on the loss! :thumbsup2

thanks for all your comments on the pictures!!! i'm waiting for my sister to call me and tell me which ones she likes.

The one in the huddle was really unique :thumbsup2 .

the huddle is a no-go because, one, it makes me look like i have more chins than i do and, two, my sister's crotch is in the picture. she's not big on crotch shots. :rotfl2:

Dawn Eli takes appetite supressants? You'll have to fill me in on these. Paris Hairless Hilton has a weight problem (which I find hysterically ironic). We take both kiddos out for a long walk each night and PHH eats low fat dogfood with her lean turkey but she gobbles hers up fast then runs over to Andy's bowl and pushes him out of the way. I try to monitor it but sometimes I get busy and forget.

i took eli to the vet for his yearly shots back in september and i asked the vet to check his thyroid because he's soooooooo fat. he's a almost 3-year-old beagle. our other beagle, sherman, is 10 years old and not nearly as fat as eli. eli is more active than sherman AND he eats the same amount, so we can't figure out why he's so fat. the vet told me it would be a waste of money to check his thyroid because he's young and not lathargic. most dogs who have thyroid problems are older and more lazy. so he put him on an appetite suppressant. it's called slendrol and i have to give it to him once a day. it's a liquid and i just measure it with a syringe and shove it down his throat.....he hates it! he lost 2 pounds the first month but this month he gained .7. the vet says to stick with it.....we shall see! we don't have a problem with him eating sherman's food because sherman will growl at him if he gets close to his bowl!

Ok I was going by the #s on the top of the photos so my 30 and 32 actually translate to 14 and 15 using the #s under the pics! Sorry for the confusion. I was wondering why no one else liked the same pics as me.:rotfl:

i was wondering because the first two you posted were pictures of my brother pretending to be a model!!!! i think i'm gonna get wallets of the one of him with his hand up towards the sky and give it to him as a joke for christmas.

I like the sincere smiles on your brother. He looks like a prankster!

his smile is so goofy! and prankster is an understatement!!!

hope everyone had a good day. i found out this morning that my uncle had a heart attack last night. they put a stint in today and he's going back in 2 weeks for open heart surgery. my other uncle (his brother) had open heart surgery about 5 years ago and my grandfather (their dad) had it in june 2006. PLUS my dad had it in february 2006 and his dad died of a heart attack when my dad was 17. scary stuff!!!! i know it's more prominent in men, but i guess i should start getting my cholesterol checked and stuff pretty soon.

:hug:s to everyone with a sick baby, or who is sick herself.

Welcome to Mic & Min.

Danielle...Any news on your sister and/or your brother?
DSis is good, good good! the biopsy was benign. I still wish she would quit smoking. It scares me.

I went for my 6 week check up this morning. The scales said I lost 30 pounds since just before I had her. I just had to tell some peeps.
Woo hoo! Great job!

Parent teacher conferences started today. So far, so good. I need prayers for tomorrow. I'm meeting with a mom whose child is repeating kinder, who does not get him to school regularly, who does not help him with homework, who never returns my calls, who does not respond to notes. I had to call her at work to pin her down on a conference time. I hope she shows up, and I hope she starts taking her son's best interest to heart. I'm tempted to tell her if she keeps up this attitude, her child will be 31 before he finishes high school (if he gets that far).

LUCK!!!! :goodvibes

I like 14, 24, 34, and 37. Although, they're all great...I'd have a tough time choosing just one...maybe y'all could get her to do a collage :)

Thanks!!! I have actually had NO side effects from the Alli so far, even after the fried chicken. I am only taking it twice a day, since my b-fast (if I eat it at all) tends to be < 100 cals and little to no fat. If anything, it has actually solidified things a bit (TMI). This is day #4, and I am down 2 lbs.
Well, I'd say that I'd get the rest of what my mom didn't take, but can you believe she just threw it all away?!?

thanks for all your suggestions! i think 14 is a winner at this point. i also like 9, 39, 36, 34 and 24 (if you're going by the # under the picture). i'm sooooooo getting #'s 31 and 41 framed as a joke for my dad! :rotfl:
14 is a good one! :) Those pics of your brother are hilarious!

Wow..thats pretty sweet. I am still a bit nervous about taking Alli, but it seems like its doing the trick for you!

Morning

Regarding the pictures I like 15, 2, and 11, and I like so many. But those are my top pics. A great looking bunch you guys are.

It's a good thing we type here cause every other word doesn't come out. I think I may have laringitis. However you spell, not looking it up.

Regarding the boy and the new silly girl wanting to be your friend: I think it's because she doesn't trust him. She knows what he did to you. She knows what he can do to her and she wants to keep tabs on him and you. That's the only way she can by pretending to be your friend. She's just as bad as him.

Anyone here cooking a turkey? I am attempting my second one.

Have a big losing day.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Yippie for your sis! I have a smoking sister too. It drives me crazy and scares me. Our Dad died of esophagial (sp?) and lung cancer from smoking.

How is your Mom doing?

Good luck on that conference today! SHe probably won't show :sad2: . DOes it make you just want to take the kid home and raise him yourself, or what?

That is not good. It seems to be running rampant among them. My husbands family has the exact same issues. Grandfather and oldest brother and one sister died of heart attack, this February the 2 remaining brothers (one my FIL) were both in different hospitals at the same time, getting thier hearts worked on. One had had a heart attack and went to the hospital, and the other went to his doctor because he was feeling bad, and the doctor made him go to the right to the hospital. They called each other from thier hospital beds to see how the other was doing. Thier other sister had open heart surgery a few years ago. (there were 9 siblings all together:eek: ) It's definitely scary. I don't cook any fried foods, (which my husband hates) and I try to cook a lot healthier than I did when I was younger. The older we get, the more I notice these types of things. They take alot if vitamins now, and fish oil (yuck). But my FIL STILL smokes! :sad2:

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! :sunny:

I did not have time to catch up fully but did catch the smoking conversation.

DO NOT SMOKE!!!

I watched my MIL die a slow, miserable, humiliating death from emphysema.

AGAIN I SAY....DON'T SMOKE....EVER!

That's your PSA for today.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!

i smoked for about 6 months when i was 17. then one day i couldn't find my car keys and my mom was helping me look for them and she found my cigarettes in my purse. she asked me about them and i told her they were my friend's. i felt so guilty about lying to her that i threw the pack away and never smoked again. thanks, mom, for the guilt trip!!! it was a good thing, too, because i met DH not too long after that and i found out a couple weeks after we started dating that he would never date a girl that smokes. his mom and sister smoked all his life and he just refused to deal with it. thank goodness they quit a few years back when his nephew developed asthma!

well, i think we decided on these.....(i have the CD now so i can upload them to photobucket!)

these will be a mixture of 8x10s and 5x7s......

thanks for all your opinions! i think i picked some that you guys suggested. you have good taste! :goodvibes

lynda - i'd love to have your (honest) opinion of these since you're the professional photographer of the bunch! isn't there someone else here who dabbles in photography?

i'm off to fight atlanta traffic. i've got to meet my sister's boyfriend at 285 (the big loop that goes around atlanta) so i can give him her birthday present because i won't see her before then. i don't want to mail them to her because i'm afraid they'll break. am i a good sister or what? ;) then i'm going to go buy the last christmas present i need to buy! :woohoo: and THEN i'm going to eat dinner at loca luna's and after that see my favorite artist of all time, tori amos, at the best venue of all time, the fox theater. i just absolutely adore her. if i was stranded on a desert island i'd have to have "boys for pele" with me or i'd go nuts. if you don't know who she is, here's a bio....

hope everyone has a skinny day! :flower3:

Morning

Anyone here cooking a turkey? I am attempting my second one.

Have a big losing day.
Yes, I am cooking one. This will be my 4th year to cook one. I just buy the bag and put it in there and follow the directions for temp and time and it turns out great.

Parent teacher conferences started today. So far, so good. I need prayers for tomorrow. I'm meeting with a mom whose child is repeating kinder, who does not get him to school regularly, who does not help him with homework, who never returns my calls, who does not respond to notes. I hate parents like this because you know it is all YOUR FAULT at least that is what they think. I hope all goes well for you today.

Sorry to hear about your uncle. My DH family is the same way. His dad had quad heart bipass at the age of 40 and died in his late 50 from congestive heart failure. His grandfather died of the same thing--so it is always on our minds. Hope he recovers soon and the surgery goes well.

Waiting on the pediatrician to call back. Joshua is only better as far as the fever goes. He slept a lot yesterday and is already asleep today. He fell asleep during his breathing treatment--which typically wires him majorly. He has never slept like this even when he has had pneumonia. Rebekah woke with goopy eyes---what fun!!

I love hockey too (hence the screen name!!). I was a huge Pens fan when I was in high school, and remember when Jagr was drafted... now that I am in NC, I root for the home team here. Also, DH and I both play ice hockey, and I feel your pain on the expense!!

And, strangely enough, my MOH in my wedding and I also share the same birthday, Dec 24th. Fun, isn't it? :goodvibes

I am with pigget. Oven bags are essential!! They keep you from having to baste the turkey, cut down on cooking time, and the turkey turns out moist and wonderful. I usually cut the bag away for the last 30-45 minutes, just to crisp the outside skin.

isn't there someone else here who dabbles in photography?

I think that's me! :cutie: You picked out some of my favorite pictures out of the group. Great composition! Whoever gets these pics will love them!

Another thank you to everyone for your warm welcome. I would love to post a bit more, but I need to feed lunch to my little one.

Have a great day! :goodvibes

How coincidental is it that the ad banner at the top of the screen is from ebay featuring Jaromir Jagr trading cards and bobble heads?

Hmmmmm, I think our posts are now being scanned by advertisers.
