Disapointed

I really wish the OP would return and be more specific about the disappointment with the attractions. I really don't get that. The other complaints I can understand, but not the attractions.

I I guess you see this anywhere you go, but I could go to Europe for less than the price of Disney.:scared: :

I really don't think so :sad2: There is no way you can go to Europe for less than WDW.

Our trip was planned, and to my suprise, planned quite well.....our reservations worked perfectly and we even made one change while we were there....

Listen, I don't mean to come on here and bash Disney for those that love it and I hope you continue to love it....I just don't get it.....I'm not trying to insult anyone.....

I had no beef with the weather, as it was PERFECT weather everyday but one......No beef with the lines, as we didn't wait more than 1/2 hour in any line!

Soarin was cool. Aersomith, Test Track & Space Mountain are fun. Monsters comedy was very good and I enjoyed the 3D shows. Nothing else was good as far as attractions. We do enjoy the characters. Just seemed like a bunch of french fries and pins.....next vacation will be a an all inclusive family resort.....

OT-but DH actually put down a hefty deposit for an Italy trip for our 5th anniversary. He had checked into it, and got prices for it. I refused because I didn't want to leave DD and decided on Disney instead. He said it was more than the Italy trip would have been.

I'm sorry I just don't believe that it could be cheaper. The flight alone will be a considerable chunk of money. It sounds like he just wanted to go to Italy (and who could blame him?). We have taken many WDW trips and stayed on the concierge level on some occasions, stayed for up to 12 days, eaten at some of the best restaurants and it hasn't approached the cost of a European vacation.

I guess it depends on the type of Disney trip you do. We are 2 adults 1 child (3yo) staying at Pop for 5 nights, 6 day hoppers, flights, dining package for around $2100. Flight and hotel alone to Italy would be more than that for us.

Also, the Italy trip did not include the kids. Whatever we do will always include our dd, unless *MAYBE* we did one night locally somewhere. We are on a tight budget and love Disney, so our vacation budget goes there for now. When I go back to work after all of my kids are in school, maybe we would consider other places.

Hmmm, it sounds like your family enjoys the coaster/fast type of rides, and if that is the case, then I can see your point about the rides/attractions in WDW. Have you tried the Universal and Islands of Adventure parks? Those may be more geared to your likings.

We are a family that has been taking our twins to Disney since they were 7 months old, so we enjoy the fantasyland-type rides (twins are now 4) and all the imagination, creative, and sea creature sections in Epcot, and all the animals at AK totally fascinate the twins and we love seeing them discover new things. I should also point out that perhaps your trip experience was not to your expections because you didn't enjoy your resort. Personally, a resort makes or breaks our trip. Being that our kids are young, we spend a lot of time at our resort. Beach Club is our favorite, mainly because of the location. Did you check out that area (the Epcot resort area)? BC is an Epcot resort and located next to the Boardwalk and within walking distance to both Epcot and MGM. The boardwalk is really fun at night with entertainment on the boardwalk, ESPN Club, surrey bikes to rent and ride around the lake, watch Illuminations from almost any spot, nice restaurants too. By staying in that area, you have several fine dining options within walking distance, including all the Epcot countries. To us, this area is like a vacation within a vacation and we sometimes forget we are even in Disney.

ditto...we bought into the vacation club at the beach club for this reason. I seriously think the resort can make or break a trip. I do think Disney is moving toward more shows and other types of attractions rather than roller-coasters.

I understand....we have had a trip or two that was not that great at disney...it happens...and i know it is not cheap we have a family of 5! a trip to the bahamas is cheaper than disney for us....

French fries... hmmm, I think we had french fries twice on our trip. If you're into the big stuff, WDW isn't probably the best bet. Our first trip was a bit of a pain but for totally different reasons. My kids are chickens, we had almost no money, and we were trying to deal with what other family members wanted (which conflicted with our tastes/needs). Maybe if you do go again, it should be just for a day or two with hopper... jump around to the few things you like, then head to Universal or the beach for the rest of your vacation.

btw, I know people who have visited Europe for several weeks for far less than a Disney trip... just depends on what you want and need. People with kids or older adults cannot reley on hostels and hitchhicking. Then again, some people actually .... camp... at Disney! :scared1: :rotfl:

100% correct...this last time (we returned Monday) from WDW and for the $3,800 we spent in WDW we have gone to Europe several times for less. This still holds true for the weak dollar. This past fall 10 days in Ireland for less & early last Spring Italy & Spain for less.......

I am amazed when people walk through Epcot and believe that is the essence of the country & the people it represents:confused3

By the way no hitchhiking, hostels for this gal & her family. I didn't even travel that way in college.

I agree! We went to Italy for two weeks, and it cost considerably (barely over half the price) less than our upcoming 7 days/6 night Poly trip!

That really sucks; I'm sorry the trip was disappointing. We were fortunate (?) enough to not have to deal with any rude CMs while there, but it would've left a very sour taste in our mouths if we had.

Oh gosh, I hope no one thinks the Canada pavilion represents Canada in any way whatsoever; particularly those horrible cast member outfits. :sad2:

We've only been once before, and everything was magical. The people were polite (CM's and guests), the service was great, the fireworks were awesome, etc, etc, etc!

As you can see from my siggie, we're going back in less than two months, and I can only hope and pray that this trip will live up to the last one.

I already know that this trip will be completely different. The last time we took our DS (5 at the time) and left the little baby at home. The little baby is now 3, and he's going this time. So that will be different. He won't be able to do the rides my older son will want, he'll also probably need a nap most days, and we'll probably end up having to split up a lot more than I'd like. Me with the youngest, going slow, riding tea cups, back to the AKL for a little rest, while DH and oldest will be riding the mountains, test track, rockin roller coaster, etc.

That will probably make it seem a little less magical for me, but at least everyone will be doing what they want to do, so they'll be happier that way. I'd rather split up than have my 8 year old be upset that he didn't get to do something he wanted because the 3 year old needed a nap, or was too short, or whatever.

Sorry to the people who have encountered rude CMs. I have yet to encounter a rude CM on any of our Disney trips. (rude people in general, yes...but not the CMs). The attitude of the CMs is one of the reasons I return to Disney yearly.

I think the rude CM discussion needs a poll.
Going to do one now...

We went for the first time as a family in July. I had went one other time as a children. It was ok but it wasn't a place I would want to visit yearly.
It was so expessive. We went several hundred dollars over budget. We even received a $75 gift card for doing a survey and packed our food. It was amazing how much everything cost and how fast things fell apart.
Only a few things really stood out in my mind from the trip. One was my daughter and me at a character meal (Princess). It was so amazing and I still tear up when I talk about it.
We loved Nemo. That show was great and my whole family loved it. Dory even sang to my son.
The last was my son and I riding Everest. We raced to the ride and was able to get two set of fast passes. We later picked out a couple waiting in line and gave our passes to them.
We are a family of 4. My husband and daughter are so slow (they are the turtles). My son and I are faster (we are the rabbits). We ended up not being able to spend much time together at the parks because of how different in speeds we are and the age difference of the children.
I would like to go back one day when I win the lotto.

We have a family of 5, on our last trip the kids were 15, 10 and 4. We go every year and rarely ever split up in the parks. Not that I think there is anything wrong with that if that's what you want to do. But, I just wanted to make sure you knew about the child swap option. One adult takes the tall enough child (or children) on the ride while the other adult waits with the small child. The one waiting gets a Child Swap pass (looks and works like a Fast Pass except without the time limits) Then, when the riders get off the ride, the non riding adult can go on throught the Fast Pass line, taking up to two aditional people with them. My older kids LOVE this, because then, they get to ride TWICE! And, I like it because we all stay together.

If I told you about all of the events during our last trip you'd probably think it was a disastrous vacation, but it definately wasn't so for us. It's all about perspective. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry it wasn't as you expected :sad2:

I really don't think so :sad2: There is no way you can go to Europe for less than WDW.

My sister spent 5 days at a 5 star hotel in Paris, air included, with a friend for $600 per person.

She booked a package through Expedia in November. It was $180 per person just for air from here to Orlando and back in November. So it is possible.

We are looking into using our DVC exchanges in Austria in the next couple of years. One major obstacle for me is I hate to fly. The 2-1/2 hour flight to Orlando makes me mental for a week beforehand. I can just imagine a flight to Europe...over water...

To the OP: It is unfortunate the bad outweighed the good for you. While some of us have a love of Disney that could be viewed as almost pathological, we DO understand that not everyone feels that way. My oldest sister would rather gouge out her own eyes than go to Disney. :) i have a friend who went in July and said it was hot, crowded, and she did not love it, but it was okay and I get that. However, it is VERY disappointing to hear that someone had just a BAD time. Sorry to hear that. :guilty:
