Now that we are home, I have been able to compare our Silhoettes by Bonnie with the one my son had made at school. While they are cute, and she definately has a 50's syle about them... they aren't really us...

Especially compared to the one DS had made at his school, which is a perfect likeness!

Anyone been dissapointed?

And for those of you who have them done at DL, have you ever had them done anywhere else?

Maybe we will have to try a different artist next time.

Edited toadd that after all this time I realize the style was just different. But the one done at DL really was a great representation. I just didn't see it at first because I kept comparing it to the one DS had done at school. Don't miss out on this keepsake if you are planning your trip!

Hmmmmm, all of mine done by Bonnie have been a perfect likeness. Dont know what to say about that one.

We have had Sylvia do our silhouettes almost every time. Bonnie did ours last year. She definitely has a different style and her silhouettes look much different than the ones Sylvia has done for us. We prefer Sylvia's style and were happy to see her there this year. :goodvibes

I had my boys done about 4 years ago as my Mother's Day present, and I, too was quite disappointed in the results. I don't know who did ours. My older DS kind of looks like him, but my younger one's just looks very generic - in fact even he, at age 7, said that "it could be anyone."

But, I still hung them up in my bedroom and look at them fondly!;) I keep thinking I should do them again - with Sylvia since everyone speaks so highly of her - but my older DS now has a buzz cut and would probably just look bald and my younger DS has long "skater" kind of hair and would probably come out looking like a girl. :lmao:

I am not sure who did our in Disneyland but i like them.

However, we had them done in Disneyworld last year and they are horrible. We had one done for each of our girls and you can not tell them apart! My girls were 5 and 8 so there should be some difference.

Sylvia did my kids silhouettes 2 years ago and while I liked them, I didn't think they looked exactly like my kids. Like someone else said, they could have been any kid:confused3

I did buy the frames and they are hanging on our wall in our family room.

I had my 3 girls done a few weeks ago. The older lady did them, is this sylvia or bonnie? They look like the girls a little, but not exactly. She made my oldest girls hair look funny in the back like she had a little tail when her hair is all one length at the shoulder, it bothers me every time I look at it.

Sylvia did ours as well, i plan on having them done again this year.. Maybe I will make sure Sylvia is there when I have them done..

I'm going to have my DS done this next trip. I've seen other peoples and quite frankly I think they all kind of look like they could be any generic kid but I still want to have it done.

I love the ones we had done of the girls, I gave my Mom the other one and she loves it as well. I thought they turned out really great and yes, I do think they look a lot like my girls.

Each artist has their own style....some people will like one style, others the other....that's just human nature.

The best thing to do is to watch the artist doing someone and check whether you personally think the work they're doing right then matches the child. If so, make note of the name tag or have your child done right then.

If not....come back later or tomorrow and watch a different artist.

We do these once a year....a great way to watch the kids grow, lol.....and after a couple of them that we were happy with but not thrilled....we started watching before jumping in so that we got an artist that we could be thrilled with their work.

I love having portraits done of my children at various stages in their life (and having identical twins it's really neat to see the GOOD artists ability to distinguish each girl from her twin)....and the quality differs everywhere we go. Personally the absolutely best one I have on my walls was at a beach in Northern California in chalk and cost me $5 each! He captured their individual personality so well that even non-family members could tell the portraits apart....alas the next year we looked everywhere for him and never found him. Such is the life of street artists.

We had ours done YEARS ago when I only had 2 kids and my oldest was 6. (she is 19 now!)

On our first trip to DL in 2005, I wanted them done with all 3 of our girls. (ages 14, 10 and 6) They turned out horrible! They didn't look anything like our girls, and my youngest's head was bigger than both of her sisters. (i got them all 3 in one frame)

All this time, I have never wanted to say anything because everyone here raves about how wonderful they are....:confused3

I would like to try again though. :thumbsup2

Yeah, the more I look at DH's it could be anyone and although DS somewhat resembles him the one he had cut at school by a local artist is AMAZING... she perfectly captured DS including his personality.

I hope we get to try Sylvia next time!

My brother and I had them done when we were kids and I still love them - I can tell that it was he and I. They are so good I could almost guess what we were wearing. My son's had theirs done in January 2008 and I think they look great. I'm not sure who did them for us, but it is still my favorite souvenir.
