Disapointed with Decorations

Well, we've never been there during the Christmas holidays, but did finally manage to go in November this year. We didn't do any resort tour because we were only there for the first weekend that Osborne lights were on...and weren't sure any decor was up at the resorts yet.

However, we really liked the decor & holiday Christmas windows in the shop windows & such at MK and DHS (loved the Osborne Lights and the Mickey-head rockettes in the store windows-really cute) Epcot tree was pretty, too...we thought it was all very nice, and some was spectacular (loved the castle dripping icicle lights, too)

Guess it's all relative-we thought it was great, but then we never saw it before, so then we couldn't be disappointed by--or miss--what we don't know is missing, if that makes any sense, lol.

are [/B]people who are thrilled with what they see when they walk into the parks. I'm in the parks every day, and every day I hear people say how amazing the decorations are on Main Street or how they were blown away by the Osborne Lights. I've even heard people who thought the decorations at Epcot were lovely and who thought the Epcot tree was really beautiful.

That would have been us last week. I have never been to WDW during the Christmas season before, and I thought the parks looked beautiful.

I have to think that the powers that be at Disney are banking on having more new guests than repeat guests. More people like me who think what they are seeing is beautiful, and fewer people who are comparing things to the good old days.

Kind of like how the last time I saw Hallowishes I noticed parts were missing, but I'm betting the vast number of guests though it was great.

We have never been during Christmas either and we thought everything looked great but have nothing to compare it to over the years. Osborne Lights were amazing. Main St in MK was really pretty and the Castle looked stunning. Epcot was done up really well and AK lacked a little bit but the parade was fun and their tree was nice. The resorts (we only visited the deluxe) were beautiful. The weather the first few days (we were there 12/12-12/17) was the only downfall but it did get better as the week progressed and by our last 2 days we were in short sleeves during the day. Not so the first few days. We were in quadruple layers and that wasn't even enough. Walked on almost everything with the only real wait being Toy Story Mania (45 minutes). Soarin' was under 20 minutes and we followed no touring plan at all. Got to most of the parks by 10am each day.

Got back on Tuesday. MK, gorgeous as usual (of course there is a hard ticket Christmas party there so they have to do it up). DHS was actually somewhat festive even outside the Osborne lights (believe it or not I really miss their cheesy Christmas parade though). AK...I like the trees in Camp Minnie Mickey (didn't see them but a friend took photos of them) but I think the parade is pretty much just slapping some tinsel and Santa hats on the parade they use all year and adding a different song. My poor Epcot, it gets no holiday respect anymore.

If you are looking for Christmas decorations and spirit go visit the GrandFloridian . They the best decorations of any of the Disney hotels. A huge Christmas tree in the lobby, the gingerbread house, live holiday music, lots of poinsettias in the landscaping, etc. They are also giving out roasted chestnuts and hot apple cider.

Agreed, along with the WL. They both are very pretty. I do Love the live fireplace at the WL though:rolleyes1

Just back yesterday and we didn't notice a huge difference in the amount of decorations from years past. The only thing we noticed lacking was the archway in Epcot. Other than that, the deco was beautiful at all of the resorts and the parks! We had a wonderful time and will absolutely go back at Christmastime!

Hi! The Lights of Winter at the EPCOT World Show case entrance used to be my favorite light show! It was spectacular to say the least. Why they took it down is beyond me! Now the entrance is totally bear. Not good!:sad2:

We were there Dec 11-18. I was not empressed. I as well didnot get that christmas feel as I walked down mainstreet. Even the flowers in front didn't get my juices going. The best show to see during the christmas season IMHO
is The Bear Band show. You come in and the stage is decorated with colored lights and the trees on each side. They did not switch over to the christmas show. I asked the CM what the problem was and they told me it was to much money to switch over so they left it at the regular show. That alone took the sails out of my christmas stay at DW.
We always go to Cosmic Rays for lunch. The food was pretty bland this year.
The hamburgers where juciy and moist before but they were dried out and taseless this year.
I don't know I think WDW has taken my majic away from me. I don't feel anything special about disney anymore and this is a person who has been to WDW and Disneyland Calif. many many many times.
Oh! I went to see Captian Eo I had missed when it was first there and I like SciFi IMPO it tottaly Sucked. The only thing I liked was captian eo's ship. I would skip this not unless you are a michel jackson fan

Dan-tot:sad1:
