The disapalooza was blast. Rode TSM like 5 times in a row. My problem was the $4.00 a can coke.
I know they are there to make some money but the idea that I spent $16.00 for 4 cans of Coke turns my stomach. I will come back next year. But I'm bringing my own bottle water.

That is terrible for a can of Coke! However, I suspect it's a Disney thing. We were at the DVC Member Mixer and DVC was charging their members the same $4 for a can of Coke.

I suspect once Disney caters an event they set the prices and thats the price no matter who the customer is. It is probably like the $1,500 minimum they wanted to open a merchandise shop for the DIS event last night.

I just need to let you know that the drink prices were not set by the Dis or the Dis Unplugged podcast.

Also.....neither the Dis nor the Dis Umplugged podcast recieved any money from the sale of drinks.

The prices and the profits were all Disney's.

Sounds like the same pricing Disney uses for all catered events - I know that was the pricing for soft drinks when we were planning our Disney wedding. At least there was the option to bring your own drinks - there isn't for most other private events! Even at $4 per coke, I would have loved to be at DAP!

$4 a CAN? Wow, I didn't think even Disney would try and pull that off...

Disney did indeed set a minimum amount that must be met.

If that minimum sales figure was not met.... and I don't know if it was....the Dis Unplugged was responsible for making up the difference.

Again, this was Disney's policy and not ours.

I had a blast at DAP. Just the coke things was nuts. And caught a few people of gaurd.

yeah, they use that same stupid ticket system they used at Motion over gay days, and the 4 dollars cash only was hard to swallow. The guy asked William if he wanted a glass and he said yes and the guy poured a glass of coke plus gave him the can for 4 dollars so we ended up basically with 2 drinks. Next time, we'll bring our own though. I was so dehydrated after my 10th time on TSM:lmao:

$4 a can, maybe isn't just for the coke. Probably goes into the catering cost? Like to pay the CM serving the drinks? Don't know how that works at all at Disney, just a thought.

I would happily pay $4 for a can of coke if it meant I was at DAP. :goodvibes

Paying $4 for a can of Coke at DAP is better than paying $4 a case in snowy, cold Washington State! :thumbsup2

I paid the $4.00 a can, no big deal at all!!

I had the time of my life and I would give anything to do it all over again!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I asked them 2 times for a glass with just ice and they were happy to give that to me. I just went over to the water fountain and filled it up a couple of times. We did buy 2 water bottles and your right after the 10th time on TSM we were a little parched!

It's actually a pretty standard catering markup. I work in event planning, and when my employer caters with an open bar, the canned soda is $3.50 for can. So slightly higher, but not much...granted, I'm sure Disney has a bigger profit margin than my employer does, given the volume of soda they can purchase at once compared to a "normal" caterer!

Hey DAPers!
Why are you surprised about the Coke prices?

I didn't get to go to the Toy Story Party and I knew that all the beverages would be priced high. It was mentioned on the podcast and somewhere on the boards. You should have expected it. And perhaps followed the advice I read and brought your own water bottle.

On the other hand, I'd feel kinda bad for the DIS team if the drink consession minimum was not met and they had to pay the difference.

And that's supposed to make us feel better?

I would feel better if the DIS did make some money from the $4 cokes. :goodvibes

The event was first class all the way. I was impressed at how many CMs were there working the party and escorting us at the exit, etc. They have to make the money up somewhere.

If you were looking for a bargain, Disney is not the place to go. Pete, John, Kevin, and the rest of the team no doubt worked their "behinds" off to give you a good time, and the best thing you bring to the board is a complaint about a lousy $4 can of pop?

Sheesh....
