Disabled accomodations at the resort?

Hey guys!
My little girl is 7 and is Autistic. She also has a condition with her feet, that gives her trouble walking and has to wear leg braces. She walks independently just fine, is just a little slow and gets tired easy. We know about things inside the park to help her get around, but what about at the resort? We are staying at Coronado Springs Resort, and I hear that it's gigantic, and if you get stuck on the outskirts, the walk to the pool/playground area can be a bit.
Does anyone know if they have rooms to accommodate disabled guests which are a bit closer to the main area? We will upgrade to preferred if we have to, but would rather not spend the extra money if there is another way to go about it. My husband has also mentioned just putting her in the car and driving her to the pool and back, but it sounds like such a pain already! My daughter is a fish and a swinger, so I know she'll want to do both a lot. Just curious about our options!
Thanks!

The handicapped accessible rooms are scattered all over the resort, so not necessarily closer than any other rooms.
Unless you need the features of a handicapped room, you probably don't want to request one. The fully accessible rooms have a roll in shower, but also have a raised seat toilet. This can be difficult with a child because the seat is quite high. There are other handicapped accessible rooms which have a tub with grab bars. In some resorts, all the first floor rooms with tubs do have extensive grab bars and some have raised seat toilets as well.

Because of the way CSR is arranged, the rooms that are closest to the main pool are not very close to the food court/shop/lobby area. So, you may want to look at th different areas and figure out what is important to you. The feature pools of resorts tend to be more busy. If your child would benefit from a less busy pool, several of the areas have a 'village' pool that may be close and also work out for you well.

You might also want to look into renting a special needs stroller for her. Even though she can walk, the distance at the resort between things is large, plus you will be walking 6 to 12 miles per day on days you go to a park.
There is information in post 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread about renting wheelchairs and special needs strollers. You can find that thread near the top of this board or follow the link int signature.
