I’m sure this is a common question but I’m used to Disneyland’s Disability system.
we are going to Disney WORLD in May and heard there is no fastpass lines which is basically how the disability card works. You are given a time to come back and go in the fastpass line but with fastpass lines closed how is it working?

It works the same as it always has. They are not doing fastpass, but the lines are there and being used for DAS, rider swap, Club 33, Golden Oak, and any recovery fastpasses.

So no going to a “station” and get a return time you go to the actual ride? Get card at first services?
Where is the disabilities board?

DAS does work somewhat differently at WDW vs the California parks. We have a lot of information the disABILITIES Forum and helpful folks with answers to any questions. You may want to check out the WDW - Disability Access Service thread; you only need read the first post and ignore the rest of the long discussion that followed.

i read it but honestly it sounds the same. Get your DAS card at guest services go to the ride to get your time to come back then come back.

Yes, you'll get the DAS at Guest Relations. With COVID restrictions, I understand they only want your son and 1 parent, not your whole party, as they are limiting the number of people inside.

I think the biggest difference WDW vs DLR/DCA is that WDW does not have kiosks and you must go to the attraction for a return time. Many folks report doing a lot more walking at WDW with DAS because attractions are more spaced out -- there is walking to the attraction, walking to somewhere else to occupy your time, walking back to the attraction.

Also WDW has very few attractions with an actual "alternate entrance" and nearly all have FP+ queues, so you will be using the FP+ queue for entrance. FP+ is not currently in operation but that queue is being used for DAS, VIP tours, Club-33 and some guest recovery FPs that may be issued.

Feel free to ask any specific questions as you plan!

About having to go to the ride. I was at WDW 3/5-3/12. I was able to get return times at the Blue umbrella Guest experience stands in both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. I happened to stop at the one in HS one day to see if Slinky was up (had gone down earlier when I was trying the line). It was and I asked if there was any way to get a return time (seriously had tried earlier but there was no way I could handle trying a second time) from the cast member and he said of course and took care of it right then. I was able to do the same at other guest experience umbrellas in both HS and Epcot. I never saw any of those areas at MK or AK so no idea if those would have done the same. I knew from reading here that people were having to go to the rides, but asked just because I was there and having a nice conversation with the CM.

So helpful to know the Blue Umbrella Guest services are still available.
Its another one of those “advantages” that are so easy to walk past just like the Cooling Station locations.
Thanks for the reminder . Best advice is to study the maps before you arrive for your trip. Or grab the guidemap as you enter ! They usually offer the guide maps in the resort lobby. So you kinda know before you go!

Thanks! Good to know they have at least some back. Reports earlier had indicated there weren't any due to social distancing.

I actually had been meaning to post to let others know that I was able to utilize them in the 2 parks a couple weeks ago. I had seen the reports about them not being available and I seriously just asked out of curiosity at HS and the CM was more than willing to help and said of course like it was done everywhere so I tried other places with no issues too! I was happy to see them being used again too. Especially Epcot which is such a pain to go from one side of the park to the other with the construction right now!

I’ve seen on posts in other places that the blue umbrellas are kind of inconsistent. They may not be in a consistent location or out every day/all day.
I‘ve also seen reports of ‘Blue Umbrella’ CMs in their distinctive uniforms, but roaming an area of a park rather than being set up with the umbrellas.

So, if you see either, you should be able to make a DAS Return Time.

2 of the parks have blue umbrellas at the moment (the other 2 have the cast members just roaming). I know DHS is one of the parks that has them, and MK is one of the parks that does not (I want to say Epcot also has it, but I'm not positive)

Also, Look for the cast member holding an ipad. Sometimes they are right at the entrance to the ride and others are much further down towards end of the line. This way, you might not need to walk all the way to the actual ride entrance. For example, in HS, there was a cast member with an ipad near the large Woody, where the lines for Slinky Dog and Toy Story Mania went past. He was able to give a DAS return for either ride (but not both at same time as you can only have one at a time) without having to go all the way into Toy Story Land.
