I'm planning a special trip to DLR with my Mother in mid-Sept. She hasn't been to DL since 1985 so she's really excited to check out WOC !!!

I worry though because she has a bad knee. We were thinking of getting the dining package so we could catch WOC up close.

Does anyone know if there is special disability seating at WOC??? She may or may not have a wheelchair. I don't know that she could stand like that for 30+ minutes

Thanks!!!

We did the dining package last year and in our sections were benches for disability seating. I don't know if the people that sat there had special cards but there was seating.

if you have the time get one of those guest accommodation cards even if she is not going to need to use it for any rides. a few years back we took my mother who used a wheelchair, her sister (75) and an almost 90 year old aunt that walks like a question mark, but refuses to use a wheelchair.

the show was still relatively new so perhaps their protocols were still being tweaked but the cast member wasn't going to let the two seniors sit on the bench because they didn't have the cards. we told her we didn't get them because they weren't going on any rides that needed them. also when we made the dining reservations no mention was made about that even though we specifically asked about wheelchair and senior seating. we asked to speak to a supervisor and she said "oh go ahead and sit" and then walked away in a huff.

I booked a WOC dining package yesterday and enquired about the benches, they said to get a DAS from city hall and make sure we get there early to ask a cast member about a bench. I am also taking a chair cane so if I don't get a bench I still have a seat or at least a cane to lean on.

Be careful with the Cain chair, I have used one twice there and at security they will argue with you about taking it into the park and tell you to get a wheel chair. As long as you tell them you will not use it to sit inside the park you should be good to go.., they don't want you using it as a seat because you might sit somewhere that will A cause congestion and B be a hazard for people who aren't looking and then trip over you..

That makes little sense. Cane chairs are allowed into the park, but using them as a chair is prohibited.

The disability WOC preferred seating is near the top center. It has a limited number of bench seats available. It is definitely better than the blue section's disability seating. Get there early to claim a bench. Any companions may or may not be able to share the bench, depending on the number of disabled that require a bench. Standing area is behind the benches.

are you posing this as a question??? or are you restating the fact that I made.??

Im just letting her know of my experience two years in a row, of using my cane chair. both times I was told get wheelchair. after arguing that I didn't need a wheelchair I was allowed in using the cane, but told not to use the chair...

Was given the reason as its a hazard.

Just to update the info you posted:

The old GAC was replaced last October with the new DAS. Under the new DAS mobility issues do not qualify and Disney's response is to use either a wheelchair or a ECV.

If you need any more info on the new DAS, there is a great thread in the disAbilities section. Just make sure you read the one specific to Disneyland as WDW deals with the card in a slightly different manner. (DL/DCA has kiosks and WDW does not)

I went when I was 7 months pregnant and by WOC time, my feet were killing me. So my husband asked the CM standing up at the top area (against my wishes because I did not want to take anything away from other people) But she gave me a pass thing that allowed me to sit on one of those benches and there was plenty of room. They came by a little before the end and took them up.
