We’re travelling to DLC in October 2022 - our youngest “child” (he’s 14) meets the criteria for Disability Access pass and we plan to apply for this on his behalf however just wondering about other people’s experience using DAP at DLC? How many people can tour with him (we’ll be a party of 6)? Not sure if we should also invest in Genie +?

Currently, it is my understanding that the maximum size party for experience a DAS pass is 6 persons (the DAS pass recipient plus 5 more persons attached to the reservation party). I may be wrong and DLR may have changed this maximum party level. I strongly recommend you research this issue on Disneyland's website. It has very good, updated information. You can also pre-register for DAS and that may eliminate time waiting inside the parks.

Also, there is a Vlogger, Chris Provost, who hosts Provost Park Pass. He has several informative DAS videos Disneyland related where he tours DL and DCA with a young man with cerebral palsy.

Last year, at DAK in WDW, there was a group of approximately 20 people trying to use a DAS pass to get the entire group through the lightning lanes. I personally saw this group twice while at DAK. The first time was at Navi River Ride and the CMs let the entire group go through. A woman in front of me with her husband and two disabled children turned to me and said I thought there was a 6 person maximum. I nodded and said that was my understanding too. She was perturbed. Interestingly, the second time I saw this 20 person party was at Kilomanjaro Safaris. This time, there was an animated discussion between the DAS pass party and the CMs off to the side, because it was clear from the few seconds as walked by that the CMs were not going to allow 20 persons to walk through the lightning lane and they were limiting the DAS pass party to 6 or less.

Frankly, it appears to me that you should be fine. I bring this example up because it appears that the DAS pass party size can be modified by CMs, but I do not like guests putting CMs in a position to ask them to break Disney parks rules. I think that is terribly unfair to the CMs to ask them for permission to break the rules, let alone the other guests that adhere to the rules.

Whether you need/want Genie+ in addition to DAS will depend on whether your party might want to ride any attractions separate from the DAS holder.

We've done 2 trips this year (January/June) with just DAS and it served our needs well. On the first trip we did get Genie+ for just one of the adults so we could have the photo pass and then I used that it go on one ride that my child didn't want to do.

You can always get Genie+ once you get there if it needed due to crowds or your party splitting up. I probably wouldn't buy it in advance though.

When we went 2 weeks ago we used both genie+ and DAS together, because I had already purchased genie+ and found out after we got there I also qualified for DAS. Having both really allowed us to go on our favorite rides multiple times, plus the photopass. There were a couple of days out of the 5 we went that we took it a little easier, and maybe didn't utilize genie+ as well, but it was good to have IMO.

Thank you so much for that information and I will definitely check out Chris Provost vlog. Frankly I think 5 people in addition the DAS pass holder is more than generous!

Thank you that’s helpful. My husband and I will probably spend all our time with our child who holds the DAS pass ….and we’re planning to pre-registers through video call before arriving at the parks. It might be helpful to purchase the Genie + for the 3 older kids as they’ll probably do things separately from us.

We have used DAS and just registered again for an upcoming trip. It is still good for the pass holder and 5 guests. The pass holder must go on the ride. We waited in the queue for a few hours to pre register, but once through, it was extremely easy to do.

My family was at DLR last month and we utilized a DAS for the first time for our 16 year old that suffers from severe anxiety and panic attacks. She was uncertain whether she would feel comfortable using the DAS service but after some discussion we decided to pre-register for the DAS knowing we wouldn’t need to use it if she wasn’t comfortable. We also had Genie+ because we had purchased our tickets with that option at a much earlier date.

If you plan to always be with your child who has the DAS, Genie+ is really not needed. However, in our case, our daughter needed time back at the hotel to decompress and that’s when my husband, older daughter, and I would use Genie+. There were also times when our younger daughter didn’t need a complete break back at the hotel but did need to find a quiet spot to re-center herself and at least one of our family would stay with her while the other two would try to use G+. In the end, having both was really helpful. We would miss our Genie+ rides at times when our daughter needed extra time, but the DAS times don’t expire so we could take as much time as she needed even if it was several hours before we could all return to the park (and in the meantime, my husband and older daughter would try to find a Genie+ option to ride).

I have to say, having DAS was a real trip saver for us. Yes, it does give you an advantage for saving time in lines, but this was really the first time I’ve been at the parks with a family member with a disability that kept them from being able to tour from dawn to dark like we used to do. Without DAS, even using Genie+ would have made for a rough trip with very few rides actually experienced. As it was, we rode fewer rides over the course of three days than we ever did before, but it was such a relief knowing we had a ride waiting for us when my daughter was ready. She’s always loved Disneyland so much and I so appreciate that she didn’t have to feel like she couldn’t enjoy herself and didn't feel regret about the time she needed to re-balance and re-center herself throughout our trip.
