We're taking out first family trip to WDW this October, myself, DH, DS4 and my mom "Grammy". Our planning so far has been all about DS4, who'll celebrate his birthday on the DIS cruise after our 3 days at WDW. But I want to make sure Grammy has a good time too, and that the 3 days at WDW don't take too much out of her. She's moderately active, but has the usual aches and pains; occasional trouble with her knees. She won't want to be in a wheelchair or anything like that. I've thought of taking the little outdoor stool (tripod shaped that folds up with a strap to throw it over your arm) so she can rest while we're in line. Also thinking of timing in some rides on the trains, etc. to pace ourselves (DS4's into trains so he won't complain). Any ideas?

I'm taking my parents this September, and they've been preparing themselves by taking an hour-long walk around the neighbourhood each morning. As time goes by, they increase their length. They feel this will help avoid exhaustion while they're at Florida. It also helps them break in their "walking" shoes.

My parents are going to tour on their own and go their own speed. If you're mom is going with you the whole time, make sure she gets lots of quiet breaks. (i.e. Have her sit on a bench in the shade with a snack while you run around on the rides. Or let her have some time alone to stroll through the shops.)

I am going with my parents as well. They will be touring with us, as I think they find it most enjoyable to see my dd's face light up when she see's new things...that said..they are still pretty young. 46 and 52. But just to be nice..hubby and I booked them a foot massage at The Grand Floridian late one afternoon midway through our trip. So Hopefully they will enjoy that. I also booked one for hubby, but he dosen't know yet!! :teeth:
Maybe your mom would enjoy the same. :wave2:

I hadn't thought about a foot massage. What a great idea! Also good idea (for all of us) to put in some miles walking before the trip. Thanks for the tips!
