DIS VIDEO: Enchanted Tiki Room - Love it? Hate it? Update it?

Love it! It's the attraction that most reminds me of going to Disneyland as a child over 45 years ago! So it has that nostalgic feel for me. That said, a couple times over a four or five day trip is good. Of course it's the perfect place to escape the heat and enjoy a Dole Whip!

LOVE IT!!! For all the reasons mentioned above by @Butterfly123! It was one of my grandmother's favorite attractions and it always reminds me of her. I finally took my DS8 and 3yr old nephew in there last December and they loved it too!

Love it. Leave it untouched as one of the very originals that stay original. I have always loved it as a kid, my oldest adores it and I can't wait for my youngest to fall in love with it too.

I could go with love it or update it. It has the nostalgic factor, but it also always seems a bit long and boring to me. It's a great place to take a break if you want to sit while you have a snack and it's a good place to get out of the heat. I did love it when I was a kid.

Hate it. The hard to understand birds, the old fashioned animatronics, not understanding what in the world it is supposed to be about. I've only been in there 2-3 times and the last time I don't think that things that should have been happening were happening. At the very least I think they should update the birds and decorations so they look decent and get a better sound track even if it is the same words/music. This is the my top attraction to avoid.

Saying that one of the great things about Disneyland is the variety to suit all tastes. Obviously this is well loved by some people . . . I can easily skip it and they can easily go to it. Happiness all around. :)

Love it! We may only do it once a trip...but that once, is a must. It is so iconic to Disneyland, and the history of Walt's presence in the park.

You can always tell who is a first timer in there when the tiki gods start chanting and drumming. :rotfl:

I am quite honestly bored with it. I loved the WDW version when it was "Under New Management", before Gilbert Gottfried made his horrible joke and they reverted it to the original story.

Love it! Don't change it!

Practically, it's a nice break from the heat to relax and cool down for a while. It's nice to sit in a dark room, with music, and maybe take a power nap in the back corner.

Other than that, it has fun songs, it's great to take little kids to, and the animatronics are a great testament to the imagineering that came up with it.

Love it. I'm nostalgic. Keep it, but update it. It was Walt's intention that the park evolve, and there's only so much real estate, so sadly, sometimes when a new attraction comes in, an old one must go. The tiki room doesn't get visited much early in the day, so I hope that doesn't affect a decision on replacement.
Oh how I dearly miss the Country Bear Jamboree!!

I don't care about it one way or another, frankly. However, I dispute the CM who told us that it is "completely different" from the WDW version.

Alright!!! I thought I was the only one who thought this way. The original is sooooo boring. When it was Under New Management, we went at least once on each trip to WDW because it was funny and the kids related to some of the birds from the Disney movies. I laughed. They laughed. And there was always a line of people to see it. Then they went back to the original and the lines changed to what you see at DL - nada, zip, no-one, literal-walk-on. Since we've started going to DL in 2013, we've only done this twice out of 5 long trips and three short trips. And those times were just to fill up some time while we waited on FPs.

While I appreciate that this is one of Walt's originals, it's just not up to snuff anymore. All the clicking is ridiculous for a Disney attraction. And I want to shoot myself every time I hear "Let's all sing like the birdies sing: tweet, tweet tweet, tweet...aaAAAHHHHH." The talking among the birds is terribly forced. The music track is more painful than Small World. Yip. It may not need to be replaced, but it needs a lot of updating. IMO.

We adore it as it is! Pair it with Dole Whip Floats, and the kids and I will always be enchanted by it, as one the aspects of DLR that we love most is its history.

There's an audio-animatronic bird you can actually operate, too, at the Walt Disney Family Museum, and the kids never miss an opportunity to make the bird do things and watch the black-and-white film clip where Walt is introducing the birds to the public and explaining audio-animatronics.

And I thought *I* was the only one who liked the newer version. It was funny, had a story, and must better songs! One of my friends was like 'But it's one of the attractions Walt touched!' To which I replied, 'No, the one in Disneyland is the one he touched.'

I only use it to fill up time waiting for fastpasses, as well as to relax a bit, and a place to eat the dole whip. For those reasons, it's worth keeping.

I dont find it boring, but it isn't up to the current Disney standard. I wouldn't get rid of it, but update it.

Unfortunately, if they update it, it would probably be their 'new' technology of a video overlay on a static bird face... I think those look horrible. They've made leaps and bounds with audioanimatronics (Ursula, the Cars in RSR, and Mr. Potatohead) and they're reverting to video on a blank face.
