Looks like Apple is going to give the live stream of Tuesday's DIS unplugged recording some competition for eyeballs. Both are scheduled for 1:00 pm on 9/10.

I have to watch, I work for Apple and it's part of my schedule. But honestly, I prefer the DIS.

I don't really get why Apple makes such a big deal about this stuff every year I can see if they are releasing something brand new like the iPhone or the iPad, but why make such a big deal about an update to them. You don't see Sony or Samsung doing huge webcast every year and announcing small changes their products.

These were not small changes. iOS 7 is the biggest change to iOS since....ever.

And a new lower cost, colorful iPhone (5C) and the only Smartphone out there that is 64 bit for the new iPhone 5S. It was a big deal.

I still say that's small compared to announcing something completely new.

Actually, Samsung does hold big events like this, but they don't get the coverage because they don't have the devoted fan base of Apple.

Yes you do.... Samsung just had a big press event last week for the Note 3.

Sony also had a big event to launch their new phone, and the QX100 camera.

The big difference is people actually care what Apple has to say.
