I am wondering for you transportation experts out there what is the bus route like from DTD to the Swann? I don't know what time we have to be at the event by, but say it's 1030.

You'll be taking bus 2. Just get off wherever it stops first.

It's only a couple miles away...shouldn't take long.

Depending on what "event" you're asking about, check in procedure, etc. I would think arriving to the DTD bus station by 9:30 should be ample time.

Thanks! I have never used Disney Transportation (only SoG) so that helps. It's a 2-day cheer competition this weekend at the Swann. The event hosts has stated parking may sell out so use Disney Transportation or carpool if possible. We plan to drive our car, but if we show up and they are sold out I will have DH drop us off and then he can loop back and take Disney transportation.

If Swan/Dolphin parking is full you may also want to consider valet parking at either the Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach Clubs, then just walk over to Swan.

Yup. Parking is really limited at DtD during construction. Valet parking at th Swan or one of the other nearby resorts is a much better solution.

You could also park at DHS and walk or take the boat. If its a really big event the other resorts may be full or have long lines to get to Valet.

Parking at DTD and taking the bus is a crap shoot if you need to be somewhere at a certain time. If your DH drops you off and he plans to then park at DTD and take a bus I would say give him at least 60 or even 90 minutes or more to get back to you.

As for the cost at either a resort valet or at at DHS, you were going to have to pay to park at the Swan anyway.

Well you are in luck. The Swan is the first stop going back from DTD. However, be aware that there are two stops at DTD, the second one often serves as a shift change location for drivers sometimes resulting in delays as the new driver goes through their checklist and adjustments, and if Typhoon Lagoon is open, the bus will probably stop there first.

He could also end up waiting around 20-30 minutes for a bus to arrive.

Thanks! Our hotel is in DTD, so he can park at the hotel and walk over to the Marketplace. That would be our last resort option because then we all have to find our way back or DH leave early to go get the car. I just needed a back-up plan since the event host mentioned they may run out of parking. I guess a taxi is another option. There are 125 teams on the schedule (12-32 cheerleaders per team) and not sure how many spectators. I didn't think this competition was going to be that big. Her team doesn't perform until close to 5 p.m. but the first team in our gym goes on before noon. We will find out tomorrow what time she has to be there to support the other teams in her gym. Some of the early performing teams will have family start arriving probably before 7 a.m. I remember those days when my DD was younger and always had the early morning performances. We never had parking issues having to arrive before 7 a.m. LoL.

I like the PP's idea of parking at DHS and taking the boat or walking to the Swan. That would be way faster than parking at your hotel or DTD, especially when everyone needs to get back to the car when the event is over.

For the cost to park at HS, you can park valet at the Boardwalk and be closer.

I was the one that brought it up just in case this was a big event and others had the same idea of valeting at another resort and it either also full or just hard to get to.

They can park people pretty quickly and easily at DHS.

Thanks for the info! We were able to park for FREE both days!

On Saturday, DH was just going to drop us off at the Dolphin and go back to the hotel with DS for a few hours. DD had to be there at 1030 (but didn't compete until 4:45) and as expected parking was already sold out at the Dophin and Swann. Cast Members were directing people to the Boardwalk. So when DH came back at 2:30 he went straight to the boardwalk to valet park but was redirected to a self-parking area that ended up being FREE. There was a few reserved "Employee of the Month Signs" in this parking area. LoL. Basically instead of turning left into the Boardwalk Parking, there is a parking lot at the light on the right that folks park at. Plenty of people (cheer and just guests) were parking here. Then DH and DS just walked over to the Dolphin. This is what we repeated on Sunday. There was no parking fee or area to even pay for this parking lot. This was or first visit to the Boardwalk in a very long time (we went once just to check it out years ago) and I did not know the walkway was there connecting to the Dolphin and Swann.
:cheer2:
