Dis snobs. What kind are you?

I will admit to the USO vs WDW snob. And the subcategory of I will take Universal's FOTL anyday over WDW's Fast Pass. (How's that for stirring things up on a Disney board )

And more significantly, as I get older and crankier, my membership in the "What Ever Were You Thinking" snob association has been upgraded to Platinum Plus. This club has a broad definition - including screaming babies in late night shows, very little and impressionable children at Halloween Horror Nights, parents who let their young girls run around in Hooter shirts, and anything else one could sigh, roll their eyes and shake their head at. (In order to be platinum plus membership, you must master doing the sigh, eye roll and head shake simultaneously.)

We were trapped in Halloween Horror Nights with Children in 2004. We went to Universal as part of a private group that had rented out the other parts of the park.
When we were leaving we were told we HAD to go through the horror nights to get out. I was furious. People were staring at us like we were child abusers. And my kids were terrified. I was angry with Universal and the convention that booked the event.

I see this is a huge thread - so Im no sure if it's gotten nasty while I post the snob I am - and it's not Disney related.

It's called the hair snob.

The thought of anyone using Suave and Pantene on their hair makes me cringe. I see the fuzzy haired people walking around - I know what youre using. You blame it on coloring ( I color like crazy! I went to Beauty School, Im obsesses!!!) , you blame it on you water ( I have the same water as you!), you blame it on genes ( I have terrible hair genes!!!) but the fact of the matter is, you may as well be using Laundry Soap on your hair if youre using Suave. You may as well not wash your hair at all - in fact, it would be better for you.

This weekend, I about had a small stroke while walking past a - I think - BoRics, who were selling off all their XMas sets for 75% OFF the price. We're talking sets of Matrix, Bed Head, etc!!! For a few dollars each - this ended up being cheaper then Pantene, for crien out loud.

My hair is shiny, my hair smells good....ahhh!

And please, I beg of you. No more scrunchies. No more claw-clips. NO MORE! Please...

ANd thats my snobbery.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I use good quality shampoos and conditioners, and still have fuzzy hair. Turns out, DD and DS have the same fuzzy hair as me too. You wouldn't be able to tell DD and me apart from behind.

I agree with you about the prices. Even paying full price for salon shampoos, in the long run you're still paying less per ounce! A long time ago I figured it out. A 1 liter bottle of Nexxus was something like $3 compared to $3.50 for a 1 liter bottle of Pantene. This was a few years ago, so I'm not sure what it would be now.

DisneyPhD, I agree with you on the R rated movies. Kids should be much older than 5 to get in more along the lines of 17. I just put 5 years old because I was thinking of those people that bring their little ones into the late showing of an R movie thinking they are too young to understand anything anyway.

Those are a couple of my biggest ones!! I have stayed away from THOSE discussions for a couple of years now!!

Spelling is another one. I don't normally call anyone out on it unless I make a typing error and they try to say I can't spell........THEN I will search their posts until I find and error and point it out to them!!!

I totally know what you mean. It is the I would rather pay a movie ticke for my kid then a baby sitter syndrome. Not a bad plan when you go to a G or PG moive. Not a good plan for PG 13 (Harry potter for example, supper scary.) and R rated movies. Especailly 4 and 5 year olds, they are so impressionable.

Plus as an adult getting a nice evening out, who wants a young kid with you in a adult movie?

For all the people whom spelling and gramer bothers but you don't tend to point it out. Thank you and I am very sorry! Glad you like me anyway! (or at least are nice about it!)

No way would I bring my 6yo to an R rated movie. He is so intrigued with the whole movie rating system and always asks, "what rated is that movie?". I always have to translate for non-family.

There are a few PG13 movies that I have allowed my older children to watch at home when they were young. IE, Jurassic Park and Titanic. They could leave the room if it got too scary or we could turn it off, but never in the theater.

My 12yo did watch Phonebooth a couple years ago and that is rated R for scariness and language, but he was old enough not to repeat things.

Jake, my 6yo, is WAY to bright with too good of a memory to watch anything with bad language or adult scenes. He's not one that wouldn't pay attention.

I think that Jake would like Jurassic Park now, but he'd probably argue with me that he's not old enough, so I don't think I'm going there with him.

I am a big "Why must you use the smallest font size and most "eye hurtin'" colors when posting" snob!!




I have noticed that the main one has increased the size and most of the time the color and I do greatly appreciate that!! My eyes are pretty bad though and they are not getting any better. Getting older sucks when it comes to my eyesight.

I'm pretty much a rule follower snob, but I do live and let live where that's concerned.

This is me too. Many people think you are a snob if you don't tell them it is ok for them to break or severly bend the rules. Sorry I will be a snob about this everytime.

I agree about the too small to see text and the images that flicker and make me feel sick to my stomach so I have to scroll down quickly to get them out of my line of sight.

I like correct spelling and grammar but don't worry when someone isn't using it, I make plenty of typos myself.

I am a take your child out of the restaurant, movie, show if she isn't behaving snob.

And a don't break the rules when it will teach your children that breaking rules is fine snob.

Fun thread. I'm primarily a grammar/spelling/usage snob. But, I only correct people I know. Plus, I know I make mistakes, so I try not to be too hyper about it. Overall, I'm probably an intellectual snob. I can't respect someone in authority who is less intelligent than I. It makes working for my current boss very difficult.

I'm not really much of a snob about Disney things - except a "take care of your bratty kids" snob. On that note, I'm probably a parenting snob, too. If it's worked for me, it should work for everyone, right? I'm trying to curb that snobbish behavior.
