Apologizing in advance for not submitting a NEW picture...This is an old picture of youngest DS with the American flag that was at the Twin Towers on 9-1-1.

I knew I couldn't hold it steady at 1/100 so I rested the camera on a picnic table
that's Cedar Point left of center
Most of my patriotic/summer pics for July were posted in my Sampson State Pk thread, but I'll put a few different ones in here...
Summer sky... this was taken with a Sears 60-300mm F4-F5.6 (K-mount, auto-aperture) that I picked up locally a few months ago for $30. My initial reaction was that it was a waste even at that price, but I tried it a little more on this trip and was surprised that I actually got some pretty sharp photos with it. The contrast is a bit flat but that can be tweaked pretty easily in Lightroom. I guess it'll do until I get a 300mm F4 prime.
Some military music...
Icy drinks while waiting for the rain to stop...
I'll try to get some new pics done specifically for the assignment!
Finally got around to processing and converting from RAW my fireworks shots. Taken July 5, 2009 from Negley Park overlooking the Susquehanna River and City Island, location of the Harrisburg PA fireworks display. It was a reasonably calm night with not alot of air moving to clear the smoke from previous fireworks.
Harvey Taylor Bridge and the Susquehanna River after the fireworks
Hi everyone, I just found this thread and thought I'd share a few pictures from the Great Circus Parade. It's an old Milwaukee tradition that finally returned after a six-year hiatus. It's such an amazing parade and is just as grand as the Rose Parade and Macy's Parade. There was one part of the parade that was called the Patriotic section so I thought I'd share a couple of those. Hope you enjoy!
Have you ever seen the movie Toby Tyler? This wagon was featured in the beginning scenes!
I actually celebrated the 4th on July 6th since that is when the local Fire Chief who works at camp was available to shoot the fireworks off! Yes, I was at Goshen Boy Scout Reservation, Goshen, VA last week and loved it!
We walked almost the entire camp over to a hill above the lake and some local residents came in for a beautiful fireworks display. Here are a few traditional, but very patriotic fireworks shots.
