Dis Old Fogies Clubhouse – Six of One, Half Dozen of the Other. Makes No Difference!

Last night we had dinner at the new Long Beach location of California Fish Grill. I had the Mahi Mahi dinner with rice and grilled zucchini. Fran got a bowl of clam chowder and let me eat half of it then I ate as much of my Mahi dinner as I could. She had a fish taco for her dinner and then finished off what I couldn't from the chowder and Mahi.

With me having a glass of house wine the total bill was around $25. You can't beat that for a dinner out! Thanks Bret for clueing me in to this chain and I'm so glad that they opened one so close to our house. Fran is going to be sending me there for takeout often!

It was a great quality dinner and really affordable!

Planning is always good. I'm good with any place and I'd be happy to have company if Jo and Bret would like a ride. I'll put my thinking cap on for places.

Antioch is in between. If you'd like to check out the armpit of CA! Seriously there isnt much inbetween the City and Sactown, except maybe Bezerkley.

Not much in between, but Sactown has Bacon & Butter. :lmao:

Walnut Creek.

And we would be looking at the weekend of the 21/22nd March. DH has to be there for work starting the 23rd. Nothing is cast in stone; but that's the potential date. We would be there until the 27th.

My work is inching ever closer to a decision about launch dates. I'm still running with two project plans right now. It. makes. for. interesting. discussions. :faint:

I've been there. The Indian food is not bad. Even did me some sari window shopping. :rotfl:

A work colleague of mine was "missing" last week. Sadly, it did not end well. They found her at her parent's holiday property. No foul play.

I've worked with her off and on for about 10 years. We don't socialise outside of work; but she's fun to have as part of my team when she gets assigned. She has 2 young children.

The memorial service was today. I am so sad. :sad1:

Her husband said she had been battling depression for about 7 or 8 months. I saw her just before Christmas and had no idea. There were a number of work colleagues present and we were all shell-shocked.

Nice to read that you and Fran ate at the new California Fish Grill in LB. Your welcome. Glad that my DB and his GF told me about the California Fish Grill during our trips or I would not even know about it. That reminds me that when I do come back down to SoCal for another DLR trip, I will have to stop there for lunch.

The quality and price is really good for seafood dishes.

If you are planning on coming down that week in March it will be perfect for me since my next basketball tournament weekend in March is on the 28th to 29th.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend PiO.

Oh my that's so sad. Sorry to hear about your friend PIO.

PIO I'm so sorry to hear about your work colleague. That's just so sad for her family.

I knew Walnut Creek was a more equidistant point. I won't be able to join you as that weekend is our concert. We won't even come up until the 23rd. Also my ex-husband lives in Walnut Creek, so I'd rather not go there!

Thanks everyone.

It was a very sobering day at work today for a few of us. I'm just glad the day is over.

It doesn't have to be Walnut Creek. And given what you've said, I think we can rule out Walnut Creek.

Besides, I expect we will arrive on the Saturday or Sunday of that weekend. If Angela, Bret and Jo are free mid-week, that would be better for me.
And I'll be close to where you are; hopefully with a hire car.

Tuesday and Wednesday of that week I'm in a training class. I could do any other day.

Most likely we will be driving up Tuesday the 24th. We'll need the 23rd to recover from the concert (although not as much as we used to. :teeth:), but we'll need that day to pack, we'll probably drive the 24th and Fran will be tired on the 25th from driving.

Angela, if you're OK on the 26th or other days, PIO what's your potential schedule if this actually pans out?

Bret do you have a day job that ties you to Sacramento? Jo, I think you're kind of available pending no medical issues right?

I do but that is mostly on the weekends. My basketball season will be over in mid February. I will have a DLR trip on March 8th to 10th. During the weekdays will be okay for me (unless I get an unexpected call from my work) except the 28th and 29th since I have a basketball tournament that I need to run.

Right now, I have no schedule. The 26th would be better. We are likely to be flying home on the 27th.

Here we are planning....and I still don't know if this trip is a 'go' or not! :lmao:

That's the fun of the DIS to plan what we don't even know can happen! :thumbsup2
