DIS Meet Dec 8 07

Hint Hint: Don't forget we have a House in Winter Garden, FL and they have a TON of Houses for rent, and Apartments.. AND... there are CMs Apartments really close by ;)

I think that I've picked a couple of apartments to look at in Winter Garden. My main ones I've picked out are in Clermont. Cagan's Crossing is my #1 pick so far.

OK guys...need good thoughs tonight and for the next few days. DH had a job interview today. To say we need this is an understatement!!

IT jobs are hard to come by these days where we are :(.
Tell Hal that Jim and I wish him good luck! And don't forget to let us know how it goes.

Beth

Merryl - We wish your DH all the best. I am sure everyone has their fingers crossed and are blowing lots of pixie dust your way. :wizard:

- Jennifer (& Family)

Sigh...pixie dust missed :(

Thanks for the good wishes though. It was much appreciated..

:confused3 I'm so sorry Merryl. :confused3

Is your DH out of work or looking for something better? Bill got his foot in the door at Microsoft through a company that filled spots (kind of like a Temp, but in IT). He was a contract employee for about six months before being hired full time by Microsoft. Is it possible for your husband to work on a contract basis? I am sure there are companies like that in your area. Worth a shot. Please give your DH our best. :cheer2: We're rooting for him.:cheer2: Bill works in IT too. I don't know where he'd work here if it wasn't for Microsoft. Dell is Austin was laying off people left and right last year. :headache: This is why moving to Washington state is always an option for us. Moving to Redmond, WA means more opportunities.

:goodvibes Hang in there. The right opportunity for DH will present itself.

Dh is getting laid off :(. He has been on the "beach" for the past month. He is a contractor...I hate it too...once a cllent doesnt want them...then hopefully on to the next one. They have been trying to find him something else..but nothing has worked out. He is currently a project manager..but he is will to go back to lead developer again.

You would think being in NJ and within commuting distance to both Manhattan and Philly there would be jobs all over the place..but there isn't. It really sucks. I actually put my resume out there again..but I am a COBOL programmer that hasn't coded in 7 years!! I wonder how many nibbles I will get.

We are looking all over and figure we will probably have to relocate. ANyone want a house in NJ?? Really high taxes come with it too :rotfl2: !

It sucks, since all our family is here..except for DS who lives in CA. Next week I guess I will find out what COBRA will cost us this time. Sigh..this isn't the first time we have been through this..but I was finally feeling safe again...DH spent about 3 years under employed after 9/11 and here we go again :(.

ANd this time the economy is really in the toilet too. Now to find a city that has jobs and inexpensive housing and good schools...

;) You make it sounds so enticing. :worried: Sorry your DH is getting laid off. That really does stink and especially with the way the economy is.

I was behind a truck at the gas station the other day. He spent $100 and I assume that didn't even fill it up. We can't complain too much about gas around here, I paid $3.78/gallon the other day. I know it is worse is other areas of the country. That is another reason Bill is looking into a motorcycle. His H3 isn't a gas guzzler like the larger SUVs. But, it isn't as economical as the Civic he use to have. He has a friend who traded in his H2 for a Mini Cooper. His friend lost money in the trade. :headache:

:goodvibes During our April/May WDW trip, I bought Bill a monorail set (early birthday present). He was suppose to buy me the Cinderella Castle on our upcoming trip. I sometimes buy the kids clothing at resale shops. Can't beat paying $3 for a new $10 Gap shirt (one of my great finds recently). I was in one a few weeks ago, my eyes lit up when what should I spy on the shelf, but a WDW Cinderella Castle. :hyper: I was so giddy. I paid $24.99 for it and it came with ALL the pieces. I was so proud of my find. :woohoo:

Hey... I'm glad we are not fighting for a :pirate: because the Posts are all messed up.. The long posts are showing up after the short posts.. Reguardless of the time the long posts are being posted..

Sorry to hear about the job loss. :worried:

If you're really thinking of relocating, think about going south! And that's not just my roots talking. ;) The Raleigh/Durham area used to be quite the growth area for tech. I haven't checked into it for a few years, but it was in the running for us before we moved to CA. The cost of living should be considerably less than NJ or CA too.

Here's hoping he finds something wonderful locally though and you two can stay put. :wizard:

Merryl,
I'm sorry to hear about the lay off. It must be so stressful. We are thinking good thoughts for you!!

Wendy

Thanks!! It is very stressful..but we shall see what happens. We were going to try to cancel the EB, but we didn't meet all the conditions. I guess that is good in one way..and not in another!

We did have a really nice day today. It was really hot and we had to go to a meet and greet at the kids camp. I then wanted to pick up a "few" items at Sams club...wow..I have to remember.... NEVER go to Sams with DH. OMG..you don't want to know what we spent. I will say we did need pool chemicals, and that alone was 160.00!! We wanted to get more chlorine tabs before Sam's started putting out their snow blowers, :rotfl2: .

We then got home had lunch and we spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool! It started pouring at one point, but since there was no thunder (like a summer storm in FL), we stayed in the pool. I just moved the towels so they would stay dry. It was a really nice day with the 4 of us. Hal is usually busy and he came in and swam with us too. So it was a really nice and relaxing day :). Haven't had one of these days in a long time!! :goodvibes

Well another cruise Flew by with me NOT getting a High Tea or a Brunch for our Group.. :sad2: I think for now on, I won't even bother trying..

All I did was book our excursions.. which I know basicly Never fill up

Sooooooooo who is ready for the severe thunder storms with hale and damaging winds??

Best Wishes all.. especialy the east coast.. I heard it is suppose to hit us hard
