DIS Meet Dec 8 07

Thanks! The best part is that the tickets were a Christmas gift from a co-worker, so I didn't even have to pay for the tickets. I haven't cashed them in yet, but I'll probably get six more scratch-offs. That's how I'll get the money to buy my yacht and helicopter. I will invite all of you on the maiden voyage!

Beth

I am all packed and ready. You still have our phone numbers, right?

Oh, oh! Don't leave yet, I'm not packed. It will only take 5 minutes though!!
I still have all of your numbers programmed into my phone. I'll call you as soon as I have the title to the yacht. Don't I wish!:rotfl2:

OK, I've got work to do, and the storm is bad enough that the power will probably go out before long. We have high wind and torrential rain, lots of thunder and amazing lightning. It's warm, and it's much more like late April than mid-January!

Beth

I just read PLUM LUCKY by Janet Evanovich. I think all you Jersey Girls would enjoy it. (The non Jersey Girls too.) Her books are amusing.

We had a tornado :scared1: yesterday. It was across the bridge in Vancouver, WA. Very, very unusual for this area. We have had a few funnel clouds over the years that we have lived here, but never a full blown tornado that touched down and did damage. It was, of course, the only thing that happened yesterday if you watched our local news! :rolleyes1

Stay safe! Scary January storms. All storms are scary but weird ones in wierd seasons are worse. How house sale coming along?:flower3:

I saw this on the weather on Good Morning America this morning. I was wondering if you were alright up there! What a strange winter this is!

Well, it is listed and we have managed to keep it picked up all week. Hopefully we will get at least some lookie loos this weekend. We really are marketing it for the property (13.4 acres of perfect vineyard land) not the house, so it will likely only be shown in the daylight - which ends early this time of year. :sad2: We have done what we can and will just have to leave it in God's hands now. :thumbsup2

You know, this really isn't to offend anyone in the news business, but I really hate the news stations sometimes. They play up storms so much, and I know it's more because it is afterall NEWS, and they're trying to make people aware so that they will be safe, but I swear. EVERY time the news reports a storm I have people call me to report POSSIBLE damage to their roof and that they need someone to come look at it because their neighbor had damage! :furious: I wanna tell them sometimes, just because your neighbor has damage DOESN'T mean that you do, or just because the news said there was high winds DOESN'T mean that you need a new roof. Ok, that's my rant for the day. :thumbsup2

I'm going to rant with you. One of the services that my office provides is government grants for home improvements. We have more people who "think the roof is leaking and someone has to come out right now" than I can shake a stick at. One lady wanted me to come out and fix her roof today! I don't even work with that program any more (thankfully!). OK, back to your regular programming! I'm going home now.

Hi everybody! :wave2:

Have any of you used TourGuideMike.com for your trip planning? I just signed up today - and so far it seems like a great way to organize your vacations. I'm using it for my Sept trip to AKV.

Wendy

Wendy we used TGM for our last trip. It's a good site, it requires an initial investment of time, and I was pretty well informed to start with...I would recommend it highly to a newbie at the start of the process, not so much for someone like me (and you I'm guessing) with a million books and resources, and a little experience. It did help me pull things together. It'd also be good if you started it in time to use the planning features, like when to make your ADRs. But, for the price, it's certainly more valuable than a lot of the guidebooks out there, and when I followed his advice, it works out.

I have a friend who is considering using him HIMSELF on their March trip, first visit with 2 kids. He's, like, $1000 for the day. :scared1: And he says on the TGM website "these are all the same tips I use for my VIP escorted guests". :confused3 I'm ready to say to her, give me the $1000 and I'll plan your trip! (And I'll spend $20 for his subscription and an hour of long distance talking to her to fill out the questionnaire...:rotfl: )

We had a tornado :scared1: yesterday.

Yikes. Glad all is well. This is one wild winter everywhere (except maybe Belgium!)

Jennifer that's quite the adventure there! :rotfl: Glad you're ok. I have done that a number of times, to the point where I left a key outside at our last house...it's always embarrassing!

Road trip planning is proceeding, right now we've got about 20 hrs of driving required by our stops, considerably less than the 28 or so hours we spent just driving to and from the airport for our cruise trip...dh is thrilled, and considering renting an RV. So far it's looking like Great Smoky Mtn Nat'l Park and maybe Myrtle Beach, in addition to seeing friends in Raleigh NC. Anyone done those spots?

Sigh. I liked it better when we were posting furiously in anticipation. Seems I got into a Friday evening habit of coming here to post while dh made the pizza...

An RV would be lots of fun...IMHO...but then I am biased so don't do it on my say so. We have not been there yet, but plan to!! :yay:

LOL, Angie, I thought you'd be on his side. ;) I actually like the idea of an rvmyself if we can work out the logistics. The kids love the concept of camping but I won't participate without, you know, my own running water and clean sheets! princess:

We have enjoyed tent camping over the years, but I really am enjoying my own running water now! :lmao: I do understand!:thumbsup2

I feel your pain. Over Christmas, we were on dialup at my Grandmother's. It took 30 minutes to check in for our flight home :headache:

Yes, I really like his site. I've only done WDW twice since they had all 4 parks open. (Well except for this last trip) I was trying to figure out how to organize our week there in September, and once I found TGM's site it made it easier to start weeding things out. I like his philosphies, and the forum is smaller and easier to get around.

The only thing I miss in the states - well except for good Mexican food popcorn:: - is my camper. We have a 19' extendable travel trailer that I'm looking forward to using again.

I didn't know anyone HAD dial-up anymore!!! :lmao: I feel for you. I think if I had to wait on dial up I would do a load of laundry between posts!!
