JoAnne, the difference in cost is because August is high season. The kids (US anyway) are out of school. This cruise we just took was incredibly low priced for Disney. They were having some trouble filling the ship and so decreased those CAT12 rates to a crazy fare. August with a Double Dip (special itinerary) is going to cost you more. We almost always sail in the off season due to the discounted rates.

I always travel off season too. Was kinda hoping later in August might be slower, but dd is starting school after Labour Day so this year we're stuck. Guess we won't be on THAT boat!

As to whether you really have a ressie......if you can't find it on DCL site by looking up the ressie number then probably not. Even though we were with a TA for this last cruise, I could still pull up my ressie. I just could not see any of the financial info.

I can find the ressie with the number I was given, but it doesn't show any financial info. Maybe not a problem. I never looked for the financial info after we paid in full, so maybe it wasn't there then either... I just thought we couldn't book anything without giving them a deposit.

We transfered our reservation to Dreams. With the book onboard discount, Disney onboard credit and Dreams onboard credit, I figure we can't afford to stay home.

Sounds good to me. It is snowing here right now. They were calling for 15-20 cm and then 5 mm of rain, but have backed off that significantly...still...

So I'm puzzled. Maybe someone can clear this up for me. This is long, so please skip down to the question if your attenion is flagging.

I dropped my little piece of paper into the "future bookings" box or whatever on Friday, asking for info about a 4 nt CC double dip in August. (That's when we have our next time off scheduled.) I got a message during the night that she couldn't work up my quote but to leave a message where we could be reached and we'd get the incentives if we finalized after debarking. Sounded good (gave us some flexibility), but I knew we wouldn't be home for at least a week, which I told them. Message waiting when we got home, with just a phone # and res #, and I followed up today.

...So. We have a res with the discount and an OBC. But I haven't given them any money. I went into the "my cruise" section of the DCL website, and can't get any financial info. (Doesn't it usually show payment status/amount owing whatever?) When he told me the price for the 4 day I said cancel it! But they had automatically put it over to my TA so I couldn't touch it.

I'm kinda confused right now. I didn't want to book on spec unless we were pretty sure b/c I lose money on the international exchange through my credit card. If I give Disney a deposit and change my mind, they'll refund the full value but my credit card will charge me 5 cents on the dollar to give me my money back (actually they take 2.5 cents per $ on the initial exchange--any international funds transaction--then another 2.5 cents to give it back to me in Canadian. ) I like having a cancellable reservation but learned that lesson on our first trip to Disney in 05 when I cancelled some stuff and rebooked.

Ok, I'm rambling. What I'm wondering is this: do I really have a ressie if they haven't taken any money? And if that's the case, I guess I should try to hang on to it to keep my options open at least until they notice?

And, um, is it just me or does $3560 for 4 nts/4 ppl in a cat 11 seem insane to anyone else? That's significantly more than we paid for the 7 day...

Ouch seems high for a 4 nite to me. But maybe cause it is 08 and on tier 3 already?? We booked a 7 nite for August 09, 2 cabins and are paying about 2100 for each...cat 10's.

Hi all!

Just back tonight from Christmas at Grandma's in Alabama.

Ok... it took me 3 minutes to write that one little sentence above because my keyboard has gone all wacky. so... I'm not correcting anything else...it might look weird, but i'm just typing.

SO... CHRIstmas was good... the travel was bad, but it was good to see my family again... some of whom I hadn't seen in 2.5 years. Grandma is 92 and I really felt like we needed to make the trip this year even though we'd just gotten back from the cruise.

The funniest (ie: only noteworthy) thing about the trip was getting back on the plane tonight in New Orleans (we'd flown into NO and then driven a rental car the 2 hours to GRANDma's) was that one of the gate agents disappeared right about boarding time, then came back doing the whole "excuse me, excuse me" thing while she was leading someone along. I caught a side and back view and said to DH "Is that....."

SUre enough, we got on the plane and while walking back to steerage, we passed through FIRst Class and it was John Goodman. Looked exactly like him, no mistaking, just like he does on TV. The oddest thing about this is that about a year and a half ago, I ended up standing next to Roseanne Barr at a deli counter. Throw in a couple child stars and I'll have seen the whole cast of that show!

I can totally sympathize with that whole credit card exchange rate thing, what a scam! Anyways, if you can't see any pricing on your ressie that means that they've already transferred it to your TA. If your card hasn't been charged then immediately cancel the ressie and you can dispute the charge when it comes in. And yeah that does sound like a lot. My DSis is paying $2000 for 2 AD in a Cat 7 for 7 days in Sep 09!

Jasmine got to open most of her presents Christmas Eve so she could share it with her Dad via webcam. He sent her lots of cool stuff from Korea. Christmas morning she got to open her presents from Santa, and was soooo excited that she got not only the Hairspray DVD, but also the CD!

Stacy, sorry we won't be able to make your party. We decided to have a New Years Eve sleepover here. Most of the kids are out of town, but we have 2 girls and 1 Mom coming so far. We'll probably watch Hairspray and play her new Twister Dance game. We're going shopping today for goodies and sparkling grape juice.

Just out of curiousity I was looking at the prices for DCL Mexico next summer. $4000 for a Cat 11??? Yikes! Guess we know where DCL is getting the money to pay Pt Canaveral for missing their port calls.

Thanks Wendy, yes, I got an email from my TA and she has it, she said sometimes they will set up the ressie without any deposit in a case such as this...so, holding on to it for now, but probably not for long. We have already booked next summer to NC (seeing as Tx was a bad idea) and will travel from there, road trip! Might get as far south as Fl but that would be it. No more hair-raising winter drives for me...until I get itchy next year. Our side trip to Sanibel Island (which dd insisted on calling Santa0-bel) was wonderful, so I think we'll probably focus on longer at the beach in our next set of plans.

Glad Christmas has been going as it should in Belgium and Alabama.

All of a sudden I'm running out of pages on the calendar, I hadn't thought that far ahead! We're having some people in on Sunday...thinking maybe it's time to shop for food and clear out some of the lingering luggage...you think??

Before Christmas we knew that there was no longer a heartbeat but had to wait for labor to start. It was a very difficlut time made worse because I was on the maternity floor and had to pass the nursery every time I walked to the bathroom. Every year I relive that day.

We saw Hairspray on the plane going to FL and we LOVED it! From the title and description it is not a movie we would have likely seen, but like a few others that have surprised us, we really liked it. I am so glad they chose that one to play. We will likely buy it as well. We were lucky and had 2 movies on that flight. We saw No Reservations also. We enjoyed that one too, but it made our eyes leak a bit, which is embarrasing on a plane.

We saw Hairspray last month on trip home form Las Vegas. We want to watch it again. I am a Travolta fan=Vinnie Barbarino.
