DIS Meet Dec 8 07

Everything is good over here in our neck of the woods. All around us got it pretty bad, but the only thing that really happened in Jonesboro was really bad thunderstorms. The tornado sirens did go off, and we did get in the storm shelter, but nothing came from it. Mountain View, AR, Highland, AR, and Memphis, TN (all within an hour west and east of Jonesboro) all got it REALLY bad. Our prayers go out to all who had damage and lost their lives.

Tina and Robby:

We're glad you are well and the storm missed you.

- Bill and Jennifer

We've had the strangest weather here in Texas. It was in the 80's, yes 80's!, this past weekend and on Monday. Tuesday was warm in the morning. So, the kids and I played in the backyard. A few hours later, I went to bring the trash cans in (Tuesdays are trash days) and the temperature dropped about 40 degrees and it was windy! :scared1: I collected our trash cans and recycle bin down the street two blocks away. I seem to remember doing that last week on trash day too. Bill joked this past weekend about wrapping the palm trees to protect them from the winter weather and it was in the 80's. The kids kept asking if we could go swimming. We don't have a heated pool. So, that was definitely out of the question.

The tickets for the April and May Disney's Pirate and Princess Party dates went on sale today. However, we have opted not to attend this year. DS7 really wanted to see animals on his birthday. So, we are going to AK for his actual birthday. It is all a surprise for him. He probably thinks we are just going to the local zoo (Fort Worth Zoo). Boy, is he going to be surprised to find out we're going to WDW. :woohoo: So far we have the following ADRs booked: Tusker House (Character Meal), Crystal Palace (Character Meal) and Sci-Fi (DHS). I tried for the Yak and Yeti for his birthday too, but it is all booked. Does anyone know if the week of April 21st will still have Spring Breakers? All the restaurants are booked up now. It is crazy. :scared:

We contributed to the Hannah Montana movie this past weekend. Bill and Will went on a boy's day out on Saturday. They saw the movie and then played putt-putt. Then on Sunday, Emily and I had a girl's day out. We saw the movie and then went to Chuck E. Cheese. All the kids are into Hannah Montana. Since the kiddos missed the Hannah Montana concert when she was in town, I totally forgot to get tickets until I heard them advertise on the radio. Bill and I are trying to make it work and get the kids to her concert in Houston. It is in March. We've found some tickets on Stub Hub, but they are still expensive. :scared1: We may have to split up if we all want to go, because Cole will need a ticket too. It is hard to find 5 tickets together. We'll see how it goes. We haven't promised the kid's anything in case it doesn't work. We'll just take a roadtrip. They'll probably thing we're heading to WDW. :lmao:

Yeah, Robby and I are fine today after the storms. One of the great things about our house is that we have a storm cellar inside the house, but I had to make sure and get "necessities" before going down. I grabbed two blankets, my cell phone, and my Don "Ducky" Williams sketch that we had framed!! :lmao: Robby wouldn't let me bring it into the storm cellar because we were carrying too much. So what if I forgot the flashlight!! What do you really need to see in a concrete cellar?? :confused3

I love a girl who has her priorities straight!! :rotfl2:

Made our ressies for June at AKV (Savannah View :woohoo: ) and for September at OKV. I also made ressies for December 28th at SSR up to our cruise January 3rd. :thumbsup2

I also get to go for a week in April while DW is at a conference in Orlando. We will probably stay at Pop or CBR. :)

I'm going to get my money's worth from our AP's this year! :lmao:

Make sure when you check-in at AKV to ask for rooms NOT near the construction. Wendy told us what section to request, but I can't find my information on that at this time.

Wow, I've seen some of the footage from the tornadoes on the internet. I'm glad to hear that everyone is safe.

Judy have you heard from your aunt and cousins yet?

I hope everyone is ok too, terrible damage.

On the northern edge of that same storm, we got 14" of snow. Just about everything was shut down yesterday as it started snowing about 4 PM Tuesday and didn't stop until almost 8 PM Wednesday.

My granddaughter went to see the Hannah Montana movie over the weekend too. She says that she'd sell everything she owns except her Build-A-Bear animals to get a ticket to see her in person.

Tina, I'm so glad you have your priorities straight. You really need to work on Robby about this kind of thing! My "Ducky" sketch is still in its packing tube in a secret location in my house because we're still renovating and I don't want anything to happen to it. If any of the family find it, it will be hanging somewhere and get full of plaster dust, and that's not gonna happen!

We had strange weather too. The thermometer outside the window of my office read 75 degrees yesterday afternoon. The ivy on the building behind this one is all green and growing, and my allergies are starting to bother me. I remember when I was a kid we used to have real winters here in New Jersey!

Any of the Tri State Area Dis'ers going to the Memories Expo in NJ May 9th or 10th?? or Florida?? :rolleyes1 and want to have a Mini Dis Meet ?

:thumbsup2 The space launch we were suppose to see in December, finally went off today without any incidents. I am still sad we didn't get to see it in person. We drove all the way down to Cape Canaveral on the Thursday it was initially suppose to launch. Then, they said Friday. Good thing we checked the news before heading down for that one. It was scratched. Then, it was suppose to take off on the Saturday we embarked. We were the idiots on deck 10 looking at the launch pad waiting for "nothing" until some kind folks came over and told us the launch was scratched once again. I'll have to look on the NASA site to see when the next launch is suppose to happen. Once Will found out where we were going, the launch was going to be a surprise, he was VERY disappointed that we didn't get to see it.:sad2:

My Mom and Step-Dad are celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year. They are taking a cruise on Royal Caribbean that sails out of San Juan. I told her to say "Hi" to St. Thomas for me. That is one of the islands they are visiting. Wish we were going too.

Jennifer,
There's a shuttle night launch scheduled for Sept 18th right now. Are you going to WDW before or after the member cruise?
Wendy

I got Disney Mail!

Funny story though: It was a pre-cruise package for the May Westbound Panama Canal cruise! I also got the letter welcoming me onboard, blah, blah, blah....

Funny thing is that I'm not booked on the cruise. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Background:

When we were on the Magic in December I got an email from my TA saying that a stateroom had opened up on the sailing and they were holding it for me. I emailed back to say that I now have a work conflict in May, so she cancelled it for me and I never put down a deposit. :confused3

I'm definitely going to WDW for the Doll and Teddy Bear weekend on May 16 and 17. I'll be getting there on the 15th (I think) and staying until the 24th (my birthday is the 23rd and my friend's birthday is the 22nd, so we're celebrating!). We're staying at CBR.

If anyone's going to be there I'd love to meet. We're in the middle of our planning. It will be the first time I've ever been to WDW without Jim, so it's going to be a really different trip!

Judy have you heard from your aunt and cousins yet?

Thanks for asking, they are all fine (thank you God). My aunt is 82 so I worry about her. But she is fine tornado-wise but she has the flu. I always smile when I think about the part of my family that "escaped" from Chicago and moved to Nashville. We love country music and like to visit Nashville. I wouldn't mind living there some day, their winters are shorter than Chicago winters. I have had enough of winter, cold, and snow.
