DIS Meet Dec 8 07

Thanks for asking, they are all fine (thank you God). My aunt is 82 so I worry about her. But she is fine tornado-wise but she has the flu. I always smile when I think about the part of my family that "escaped" from Chicago and moved to Nashville. We love country music and like to visit Nashville. I wouldn't mind living there some day, their winters are shorter than Chicago winters. I have had enough of winter, cold, and snow.

Thankgoodness!!! I am glad they are OK :grouphug:

:goodvibes I am glad the storms missed her. I hope she gets to feeling better soon.:flower3: My grandmother was in the hospital last week with the flu. She is in a rehab facility this week recovering. She is also 82. She lives in MA. So, I wasn't able to visit. My Mom did fly up from VA to visit her and is staying with my grandfather this week at their home. He's 86 and feisty.

It will be the first time I've ever been to WDW without Jim, so it's going to be a really different trip!

Beth

Yup ::yes:: this is how I feel about my March trip.. First time to Orlando in 10 years without DH

I'm going to the house to have a Closet Organizer installed and a shelf system in the Garage..

This trip in April is my 4th where Annette is not with me most of the time. She has a conference in Orlando that will take up most of her days. At night she will join me at the parks. It was on a similiar conference trip for Annette to LA that I went to DL and met Dennis & Angie.

Ok so who got the gossip on the WDW Ride Fire? :confused3 I'm looking but I don't see it.. But it was on the news but we missed it..

UPDATED.... found it.... it was AK Killimajaro (sp) Truck engine

I was looking at a thread about the 2010 itineraries, and it was reported that overall most folks were disappointed in the 2009 cruises (count me in). The speculation is that we can definitely expect something "special" for 2010!

I just got my postcard back from DCL yesterday saying they have my waitlist on record. We are due to leave here in July 2010, so I requested a cat 3 for a June sailing of any Europe itin, or an August sailing for any other special itinerary.

The leave management is really getting critical now though. I just booked a 7-night Med on Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas for November. We'll hit 5 of the 7 ports we did on the Magic, so we won't feel pressured to go ashore like we did last time; instead we can have some time to relax and enjoy the ship. I want to do Florence, instead of Pisa, when we're at Livorno though. And it'll be nice to visit Rome in November rather than June (man was it hot!)

:thumbsup2 I have been on a couple of 2010 threads too. :sail: We are hoping that the Magic returns to Europe in 2010. I guess they were fined for not spending enough time at Port Canaveral when they went to the Med last year. I assume that is why the Magic isn't straying too far from Florida in 2009. How do you put in a request for a 2010 and beyond cruise? Can we do that for the new ships too?

Do you have any plans after July 2010? Are you getting stationed somewhere else or coming back to the states?

:surfweb: I priced flights today from Dallas to Orlando (thank you Stefanie for your information) for our September trip. We keep going back and forth on whether we are going to fly or not. :ssst: Emily still doesn't know we are going to be on the ship for her actual birthday. I'm thinking we may just surprise her and pretend that we are taking a quick trip to WDW. Then instead of driving home, we'll drive to Port Canaveral. We went to see the Wonder depart in December. So, they shouldn't be onto the surprise until we pull into the. :rolleyes1

I saw on the news about the snow in New York and the Midwest. I hope everyone is well. :cold: We had beautiful weather this weekend and on Monday. I even cooked hot dogs on the grill last night for dinner. But, it is a little chilly around here today. Everyone have a great day. :flower3:

It's snowing here right now, but it just started within the past 10 minutes. It's been brutally cold, though! I haven't left the house since Saturday. Our offices are closed today for Lincoln's birthday, so I took yesterday as a vacation day to make a nice long weekend. I'm glad I didn't have to take that two mile walk in the -9 wind chill yesterday morning. Today the wind chill today is somewhere around 3, so it's "toasty warm" compared to yesterday!:rotfl: I have to go out to a church dinner tonight, and I'm not looking forward to being outside for more than two minutes. It's hard to believe that less than two weeks ago it was 75 degrees here.

Beth

We are sick of winter here. We are getting more snow as I type. We had more days of below zero temps again this weekend. Where is this global warming thing we keep reading about? We have had less than 15 minutes of sunshine so far this month. I wish I was back on the Magic! :headache:

Up until this week we've had a relatively mild winter with very little precipitation. This cold spell is supposed to end soon, so that's good!

Yup, it's supposed to go up to 48 tomorrow...much warmer then today. But ya know what...we have had it lucky so far.

To be honest, I think they built the cost of the fines into their Med and Mexico sailings. Have you seen what they are charging for a 7-night Mexico??? If they come back to Europe, I'd suggest booking in June vs later in the summer, as those were the sailings that got discounted last time. I forwarded you an Email from DCL that has all the info regarding waitlists requests. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm debating whether or not I want to try to stay overseas after this tour. Jasmine and I talked about maybe going out to the Pacific after this. We'll see how we like Korea/Japan when we go there in April. I'll be able to retire from the AF in 2013, but I still have no idea where I want to settle. :confused3

You guys are so good at keeping secrets! I booked a couple nights in London over Easter weekend, and got tickets to Wicked! I was going to keep it a secret from Jas..... well that lasted all of 4 hours.

We don't really get a real winter here. It does get down to freezing at night sometimes. This morning was really strange though. It was 0 degrees celsius, there was ice on the cars, and it was so foggy you couldn't see more than 50 yards in front of you.

:goodvibes Happy Wednesday All! The day before Valentine's Day. Does anyone have any special plans for tomorrow? We were suppose to be at WDW this week.:sad1: April can't get here soon enough.:rolleyes1 The kids and I made Valentine cards for their friends and each other this morning. We are going to make Rice Krispies treats in a few minutes and then cut them out with my heart cookie cutter. Also, we are going to dip them in melted chocolate. I figure they can set overnight and be ready for giving tomorrow. Does anyone know if they sell Mickey head cookie cutters at WDW? I'd love to make Mickey RK treats sometime. :goodvibes

I'm sure they do. Check out the shop next to the Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney.
