Dis Health Check-In July/August 2005

Congrats to all those who are doing so well on their diets! I feel like i'm perminantely on a diet (but only half heartedly so it's my own fault i'm not geting anywhere!) Lost 2 1/2 stone a couple of years ago and felt great but, alas, it soon crept back on again! At the mo i'm trying to convince myself at size 16 i am average and shouldn't worry so much about what others think of me (which is my main paranoia)! The theory sounds great but i know when i'm lying on that beach in Cuba in 14 weeks time i may not feel the same :( so i think it's time to take a leaf out of your books and really make an effort once and for all! Fingers crossed for me please!!!

vabeth were with you 100% please keep posting on here each week, as the support you get and advice you get is great! keep going you'll get there, dont give up!
Jeanette :flower:

I think we're allthe same veronica, it comes off creeps back on and then we struggle again to get it off.
don't worry about dress size either, DW has a large frame and even when she gets the weight off she's still in size 18-20 and you see others in the slimming magazines who are heavier than her and at least 2 sizes smaller. She really gets ****** off, and thinks what's the point.

Jeanette, are you feeling OK now you are back in work? and not struggled in annd gone back too soon.

Good luck to everyone on their diets this weekend, it looks like its perfect bbq weather so repeat after me:

"I will not have that 7th hotdog I will not have that 7th hotdog"!!

:)

vabeth, do join us :)

It is so difficult trying to loose weight, isn't it?

If it makes you feel any better, I am larger than a size 16 but I know that in 14 weeks you could make a real difference - and if you feel good, that's all that counts isn't it?

Best of luck :)

Cheers

karen

Thank you all so much for your kind replies! I will definately keep posting and hope it gives me the boost i need! Off to Disney again November 2006 and want to be IN the pictures this time instead of hiding behind the camera!! I've decided tomorrow will be kick-off day so i will report back next week on how i'm doing! Thanks again! Veronica XXX

Berwyn,
I've been back in work since monday, i work in a high school for autistic kids, i've had to go back the docs to be signed off again, as the pain shooting down my leg and the pins and needles in my foot are getting worse especially by the afternoons there.
so he has signed me off today

 i know its for my own good, but i do love my job and the kids especially, and i'll miss them as i wont see them until september :sad2:

I'm reaLLY sorry to hear that. I hope it's not too painful and you get better soon.
I know what you mean about missing the kids, DW works in a day centre for adults with special needs and the school for the children is just at the end of the street, so she gets to meet them when they are young and then look after them later

Hello

I've only posted on DIS for a short time, although I've been lurking for several years. I think the idea of a weekly weighin is great and would be very pleased if I could join you.

I too am on a serious diet. I started at 110 kg (242 pounds) :sad2: in marts but with hard work I presently weigh in at 98 kg (216 pounds) :) . My goal is 75 kg (160 pounds) so I still got a long way to go.

I'm doing this through dieting but mostly by exercising.
I've always worked long hours and most days been too tired to do much when I got home. Since most of my worktime is spend at my desk in front of a computer I really did not get much exercise. So now I try to walk instead of taking the bus, swim twice a week and do some pilates as well.

I try hard - some weeks are better than others. My biggest problem is stress related. When I get too stressed I eat anything with sugar. I'm fighting the urge to eat but sometimes looses. One bad day and a week of hard work is down the drain :guilty:

Leaving for WDW in 4 days...

Welcome Thea - it's good to get to know you and WELL DONE on your fantastic weight loss already - nearly 2 stone is a great achievement!!!!! :cheer2: I also have a lot of weight to lose - I've lost 19 pounds so far with another 65 to go. Like you I find exercise helps a lot though I've never done much - I'm forcing myself to do some every day!!! The support on this board is a FANTASTIC help!!
Have a wonderful holiday in WDW - eat what you like and start the diet again when you get home!!! ;)

Hi Thea,
wow you have already done really well! Im sure you will reach your goal weight as you are obviously trying really hard and everyone here will give you loads of support.

I hope you have a great time in WDW, dont think about your diet there, whatever you eat is bound to be burnt off with all the walking you will be doing!

Have a fantastic holiday!

hi thea!
and welcome! :flower:
wow, you've done very well so far, keep coming on here, as the suport and advice you'll get will keep you going, even through your bad days! i have binges when i feel a bit depressed i'll eat anything sugary even if i dont like it!
dont worry about your dieting when your in wdw, just forget about it and enjoy yourself, you'll probably find that all the walking you'll do will help.
when we go to wdw i always eat whatever i want :teeth: forget about the dieting and always put on about 2lbs.. as i see it, your on holiday for only 2-3 weeks of the year, go and enjoy, as the other 49-50 weeks is dieting. :earboy2:

Thanks for the welcome

I plan to eat sensible but not dieting at WDW. Last time my weight actually went DOWN during the trip. Must be all that Walking we do at WDW :rotfl2:

We will be in Florida until August 8th, so until then have a nice summer :sunny:

Only 4 days to go......

It's great to hear from some newbies on this thread, instead of starting a new one I've just continued it into this week. There's some great advice on here. Well done to those of you that have lost weight last week and Good Luck for this week too.

Unfortunately I can imagine that if you are anything like me, who has been dieting since the age of 16 - life does seem to be one permanent diet, but with loads of encouragement and the incentive of a forthcoming holiday or event we know that in a matter of weeks we can make a difference in our weight.

Good Luck everyone

Mandy

Hi All

Another 1lb for me this week, which I am pleased with, slowley but surely.
Good luck to everybody else for this week, and a very warm welcome to all the newbies.

How true!!! I always think that if I'd never started dieting in the first place I'd be a lot slimmer than I am now because every time I lose weight and put it back on again I put a bit more on for good measure!!!
Can anyone explain this to me please? When I'm as good as gold I sometimes don't lose anything at all but this week, when I've been out for 2 meals (plus wine), I've lost 2 pounds!!! If going out for meals and booze is the secret to losing weight I've finally found a diet I can learn to live with!!! :rotfl2:

I was very "lucky" with my weight until the birth of my second child. With my first I actually weighed LESS 6 months after I had her than I did before I fell pregnant. i was only 20 though so I guess that helped! Stupidly, i thought the same would happen after my second child (maybe not lighter but I thought I'd have no problems shifting the extra weight). WRONG!!! and it's got worse from there on in - she's 5 next week :rotfl:

Anyway, I have to confess I didn't weigh myself this morning. I think I may have overindulged at the BBQ yesterday so I will work espcially hard this week and hopefully report a loss next week.

Well done to everyone - keep up the good work.

I have managed to loose 3lbs of the 4 i put on in Florida so i am very pleased with self this week. I'm finding it hard to stick to the diet though as we are both missing Florida :guilty: Well done everyone who has lost or stayed the same this week.

Good luck this week

Michelle

Now a diet like that suits me down to the ground!:rotfl:

Well done everyone who has lost weight.:goodvibes I have lost 1lb this week but feel fatter this week than I did last! :rotfl: I must admit I have been very half-hearted the last couple of months, it is now only 6 weeks to our holiday so I am going to start getting a bit stricter with myself starting tomorrow (if I had a £ for every time I have said that I would be a millionaire and would not need to worry about diets because I would be able to afford to have lipo and a tummy tuck!!!:rotfl2: )
