Join the club Tracy - there are a lot of us this week feeling like that. Never mind - we'll get there in the end (I hope!!!) :sunny:

Back on topic,
It's really disheartening Tracy, especially when you try so hard and get nowhere

Should we start a 'Dis Unhealthy Check-in' this week :rotfl:

It must be something to do with the time of year (longest day so we should feed our faces - yippee!!), so don't despair to those (including myself) that have put on or stayed the same

I'm looking forward to seeing Michelle McManus tomorrow night too, it makes me feel quite guilty when I winge on about 2 or 3 lbs, I couldn't imagine being 20 stone

Well done to those of you that have been lucky to lose some weight this week

Mandy :sunny:

Wow, lots of great tips and advice here :)

So what sort of diet is everyone doing? I know you WW people, but what about anyone else?

I'm just following a low fat diet (think Rosemary Connelly here - or actually, don't think of her, I find her most offensive ;) ) which has always worked for me in the past, just not shifting the weight this time like it used to. Any tips gratefully received :) Berwyn, you are a font of knowledge!

thanks Karen,
It all comes down to ds1 who will be 21 in Sept. being allergic to food colourings and a lot of additives when he was small so we had to be on the ball with our E numbers when buying food. It was hell if he had Calpol for example.
I am doing a cross between WW and Jason vale's Slim 4 Life book which is not so much a weight loss plan but a healthy diet to stop eating rubbish foods and as a consequence you should naturally lose weight if you need to.

Im on the "Drive past the Outback Steakhouse without stopping" diet....:)

But seriously..Im sort of following the WW points but throwing in a bit of Atkins (i.e have a slice of ham for a snack without the bread!).

Lost 3 stone with WW a few years back, but this time, nothing seems to be happening. That, coupled with the fact Im now exercising as well (something that Ive NEVER done, even when I was thin!) and STILL not losing any weight is thoroughly disheartening.

I did have a binge this weekend...TGI Fridays, Chinese takeaway, BBQ, plus a big share of DH's Fathers Day Toblerone and didnt put anything on, so maybe its sort of working, in a weird way??????

It's no joke though is it Allie? I have the same problem Last 2 times I lost the weight I did no exercise at all! and lost 3 stones. But this time it's coming off really slowly with exercise.

Hi! I reckon I've tried every diet known to man (or woman!!) at some time over the years - and they really worked as you can tell by the fact that I'm on this thread and bigger than ever!! Actually if I'd never started dieting when I was about 16 I think I'd be a lot slimmer now but it's a bit late to think about that, I suppose! So, in an effort to eat in a way I can maintain, I'm just eating "sensibly" - low fat/high protein mainly plus lots of fruit and veg. The only diet that ever really worked for me was WW but when I've tried it since the first time (when I lost 3 and a half stone) it doesn't seem to be as effective. In fact, sadly, nothing seems to be very effective these days!!! But all the ideas and support on this thread are GREAT!!!

Wow Allie - you must be my secret twin!!! :rotfl2: (apart from the fact that I was never thin to start with)! :sad2:

I know about that DI, 1st time we did low fat on our own, then F-Plan which I think is dangerous. I nearly passed out in work with that. (It wouldn't matter what size you were with that because you'd spend so long in the toilet nobody'd ever see what you looked like LOL).

Delicately put Berwyn!!! :rotfl2:

Was that the one that involved lots of - erm, Fibre? Hence the "F"?

Well it's supposed to be a "family" board so I thought I'd better be careful what I said :teeth:

Hi All

just fell across this thread while having a nose and thought id post.

Nov 03 i was rushed into hospital with blood pressure that high it was putting my heart under massive strain. i have always been a big lad and have struggled with trying to lose weight all my life and at 34 years of age i was 21 and a half stone.

The choice i was given was to lose weight or have major health problems so i had to make big changes to my lifestyle. So it started no milk, no cheese, small amounts of meat and it felt like anything with a taste had to go. Excersise was just walking.

I wanted to lose as much as i could for out WDW holiday in nov 04 and i was able to lose 6 stone by then in 12 months, and i must say it was the hardest thing i have ever had to do.

now 7 months l8r ive lost 6 and a half stone in total. its not really changed in the last 2/3 months.

even when you feel at your lowest never give up, if it dont work for you make a small change.

I found it easier to cut out everything that was high in fat rather than eat less of it. everyone is different.

good luck to everyone and never give up

rgds

Chas

Hello and welcome Chas :wave2:
That's really well done. It's amazing that you had the willpower to stick to it.

Well done Chas - that's really impressive. Please stick around as I think we'll be needing advice the way the diets are going (or not going) at the moment!!! :)

Well done Chas. What an achievement!

That should inspire those of us who are "stuck" at the moment!

!!

Natalie, I totally agree! In her first Hip & Thigh Diet Book she wrote in the introduction that "she knew she had to take action when she ballooned to 8 1/2 stone" Ballooned to 8 1/2 stone? I've never been 8 1/2 stone in my life!!!
